Yes, I agree the music is great. Nice colorful title screen is very fun to see. Gameplay is very smooth and responsive and brings me back to the days of Wizball :). Excellent game with a lot of depth there. Wobbly pause screen effects are terrific! Could have also easily been at the top spot in the contest. Just lots of top notch entries this year. Many thanks for bringing this to the A8!

Thanks for the download and thanks for making the game. It plays very smooth with a nice old-school feel and has cool parallax!

Wow, the slimmer sprites are very interesting. Nice that TIX has done that.

I only meant the ending screen.
I'll probably never see it 😁 so I didn't mind personally, but yeah, it is good practice to put ending screens in spolier tags.

Can you post a screenshot or phone picture of the untranslated words? That might help @drfloyd with the translation.

Great work there! Looking forward to playing it after the contest!

There are definitely different ways.
However since this machine is exhibiting no issues, and Hatari crashes exactly the same way in exactly the same configuration tells you that the machine is not the issue.
Seems to be related to TOS 1.04. On my real STE and hatari STE (TOS 1.62) with 4MB it doesn't crash. With hatari ST 4mb (TOS 1.04) it crashes as you have shown.

Super, thanks for the new video!

I just like to run all hdd games from the game launcher I am working on, that's the reason. Plus it allows save states ;).
-
I made a version which uses PPera's HAGE system so it can run from the AUTO folder and it works now on my STE. HAGE loads a full TOS1.04/AES into high ram and then autoruns the program. The only caveat is that the HAGE version needs minimum 2MB instead of the 1MB for the normal version.

Could be true. Far as I know he used the original GFA which can have AES/VDI calls internally used by various commands. Soon as you use such commands the compiler will include the AES/VDI startup code. In the end the app will then rely on these parts of the OS which of course do not work from the auto folder. I don't have access to the source code, so I'm only guessing. 😉
Traced a little in hatari. It crashes in this trap #2 so there is an AES call:
0004b592 223c 0004 b6a4 move.l #$0004b6a4,d1
0004b598 7073 moveq #$73,d0
0004b59a 4e42 trap #$02 -
Ah, if I launch from the AUTO folder on hatari it crashes also.
I am thinking this games use GEM/AES calls and has to be run from the Desktop?

ok,
for now you are the only person with this problem (the game exists since sevaral month with the french version)
Need someone else with this problem to start checking.
@drfloyd see above, there is a second user confirming a crash - @remowilliams.

Are you seeing the crash only on real hardware or hatari also? Here it is only crashing on real hardware, hatari at 4mb runs it fine.

Did you make a disk image from the disk version, or trying to run the hard drive version?
Hard drive version via game launcher.
-
Yes, @drfloyd, my STE has 4MB installed.

Has anyone tried to run this from a real ST? I am getting 2 bombs when the program starts on my STE. Running from AUTO folder so maybe program uses AES calls?

This is really fun. A good system of interaction and the detailed ascii graphics are well done. The map feature is very handy and I find that it gets a lot of use :). Thanks for releasing it.
