  1. It was always Phoenix for me too. I truly enjoyed the arcade version and found the Atari translation to be pretty good. I do have Demon Attack and enjoy it too, but Phoenix is my go to game.
  2. Space invaders was made by Tatio, not Atari...except for the VCS. So one can only assume this is the one they are talking about.
  3. For the longest time I was a fan of the Darth Vader...I thought the black made it look sleek and modern. But I was never a fan of the picture quality...Lots of ghosting. But I then got a heavy sixer which looks good too and the picture quality is so crisp and clean. So now my favorite is the heavy sixer.
  4. Mine came in and I am quite impressed by the quality. Nice looking and nice feeling shirt. Highly recommended.
  5. Happy Halloween to everyone.
  6. My daughter buys from Hot Topic all the time. She has nothing but praise for their merchandise. So I bought in confidence.
  7. I agree. I have paid 30 or more for a movie related shirt at Tee Spring. So I ordered one.
  8. Mine is Missile Command. I know it's a poor version compared to the arcade version...but for some reason I keep getting back to it. I can play other games, but I always end with Missile Command. I had a friend who cracked a million on it, so I guess that's always been my goal.
  9. I was in my early twenties when I got mine...I bought it for Space Invaders. Little did I realize I would get such a collection of games. But I had a friend back then who came over and we played the heck out of that thing. To the point that we actually started getting bored with it. We would make comments like "we have the latest in computer entertainment technology and we're bored..." We still played it however getting re-interested with each new game I got. Adventure kept us busy for hours and days. I was a victim of the great Atari loss of '81. My left firing switch was stuck in the fire mode, no matter what joystick you used, so I took it to Sears to have it fixed. Turns out that a few weeks later, Sears lost mine and about twenty other games between here and Sunnyvale. It took weeks to settle the situation with Sears giving me a brand new system. Talk about withdrawl. But once I got the new one we were back at it again. It was gone for so long it was like the games were new again. It was only within the last year that I pulled out the old system and hooked it up again and recaptured my youth playing these great games all over again. But the left difficulty switch was stuck in the advanced mode on this old thing, so I bought a heavy sixer to replace it. But that quit on me and it was living the sears debacle all over again. But I got it fixed and I am back at it again. It's a lot of fun and I am glad these things hold up over the years.
  10. That's a tough one. I have his email address, but he hasn't responded to my emails, nor to any messages left through here. I just figure keep trying personal messages through here.
  11. I just got my heavy sixer back from mojoatomic and boy did he do a great job. The thing runs well, and the picture looks great and clear. Nice to have this classic up and running again. So thank you mojoatomic, I will be forever grateful.
  12. I have a 53 inch rear projection TV I have my Atari hooked up to. Being an analog set, that's all it's really good for these days. But my dream as a kid was to play these games on a large screen TV, and now I am. I have a second one being repaired...using a VCR, I might hook up that one to my LCD TV. That's a 53 inch too.
  13. Aside from Combat which came with the unit when you bought it...the first game independent of that was Space Invaders. I bought the unit so I can have Space Invaders. I was nuts for that game when it first came out.
  14. I have the same problem with my Sears Telegame light sixer. It's the second player switch that is stuck in the expert mode. Are these easy to take apart and clean?
  15. Well...I was just notified by Atari2600.com that their repair service has been discontinued. Now I'm stuck.
  16. No...it was on a small table in the basement rec room. It happened during play...nothing was touched or switched during play. It just stopped working.
  17. I thought about it. I have fixed a lot of stuff over the years and it probably is not beyond my abilities. BUT...I don't even know what's wrong with it or where to start. I have a good soldering iron, a volt meter and the like, but I never fixed any circuit boards or anything before. My aptitude lies more in the mechanical, not electrical.
  18. I was hoping that maybe someone on the message board had experience in fixing these consoles and would take it and fix it. Anyone here do this in their spare time?
  19. I did my best to search my area and came up with nothing. It looks like nobody here works on Atari's. Looks like I'm SOL.
  20. Oh...the power adapter is fine. I had a darth vader Atari and plugged it into the same power adapter and it works fine. I think it is something internal.
  21. Is there a business that fixes these things I can send it to. My mechanical aptitude is poor. I wouldn't know where to start on replacing the power supply or the "wall wart" on this thing. I don't even know what a wall wart is. And would it be an expensive repair. Being a heavy sixer would be great if it worked...so would it be worth fixing.
  22. She was playing it for about an hour when it happened. I went back to it a few days later and I couldn't get it to work.
