  1. Alright, I am in build mode - I have a couple more questions for you. I am using 6mm x 6mm x 12mm buttons - do you suggest I use a different length or is this alright? I also see that you didn't populate R6 in the photos on the Github, should I not be doing that or is it okay if I do? For the Teensy 4.1, do I need to connect the USB Host/Ethernet or the other holes near the MicroSD on the board? Or do I just connect the outer holes to the vias?

Thanks so much! Will report my results when finished.

edit: do I need to name the SD card anything specific when I format it? Thanks

  2. I installed the libraries and after loading everything I received this message:

    Opening Teensy Loader...
    Memory Usage on Teensy 4.1:
      FLASH: code:55216, data:12204, headers:8352   free for files:8050692
       RAM1: variables:14432, code:52184, padding:13352   free for local variables:444320
       RAM2: variables:476800  free for malloc/new:47488

Sorry for so many questions, but can you confirm if this is correct?

  3. Ok, followup questions: I am programming the Teensy 4.1 with Arduino IDE. I added the Teensy Installer, but when I go to upload, I get the error message:

C:\Users\\RTO-Cart-main\RTOCart1.1\RTOCart1.1.ino:20:10: fatal error: Adafruit_SSD1306.h: No such file or directory

I assume I need to download this file and add it to the directory. Do I need to obtain other files to add to the directory? Sorry If this is a dumb question.

    Thanks

if you uploaded the gerber1.1a.rar you found in my repo, you can be easy, they worked for me. Sometime the jlcpcb preview are not accurate.

That's what I did. Then I tried uploaded with only one set of those files each. I suppose, worst case, I could drill the holes myself if they aren't populated.

Thanks again for all the help. Will report back with my progress.

edit: Do I want the vias tented or untented? Thanks!

Yes the default value are just fine, sometime i choose different color for the PCB, but it takes some more days in fabricating.

I printed the shells with my Entina 3D (i designed the pcb and shell to be into my 12cm limit! ;) ), but black resin should be good, i used it for other computer's part!

All sounds good. My last question is related to the drill holes. When I load the gerber files on JLCPCB, it shows those holes as filled. Is this going to pose an issue? Is there a way for me to make it show those holes in the preview? I tried it by making zip files only using the PTH.drl files and the NPTH.dril files.

Thanks again for all the help!

    hi,

resistor are standard through hole, and decoupling capacitor too, so you could fit almost any type if the size is not the exact one.

Anyway, I can upload the BOM generated by Kicad automatically, it's not checked by me so ask if you have any doubt.

For the PCB, i always use JLCPCB, and time deliver depends on wich courier do you choose (more you pay, faster the service).

I use jlcpcb for 3d printing large stuff too (my 3d printer has 12 cm as max printing size), but if you are looking for someone in USA, i can't help you.

Thank you for that! I was actually looking to print the shell through JLCPCB, do you think I should do the PCB from them as well? For the shells, when selecting the materials etc., do you just select SLA(resin) and Black Resin? For the PCB, do you leave the Base Material settings, or change anything like the PCB thickness, copper weigh, or Via Coverings? Sorry for all the questions, but I am pretty excited to get started on this and I am used to printing materials that can range in size and thickness and still be usable for my projects. I will also let people know if it is a success and if I have any extra materials for making more.

    Thanks again!

  7. Could someone post or PM me a BOM for this? I want to know the capacitor and resistor sizes (if you can tell me how I get them off the Kicad that would be fine too). Also what kind of buttons do people prefer? I ordered the remaining parts and plan to have the PCBs printed, as well as the shells. Are there any preferred PCB fabs with a "fast enough" turn-around time? I was looking at PCBways, Gerberlabs, and OSH Park (but I feel like the OSH Park PCBs would be too thick). Any help would be appreciated. Same if any suggestions for printing the shells (my 3D printer is currently in storage). Prefer shipping from within US if possible. I modded an Intellivision for RGB earlier this year and was looking for a flash cart - this is awesome! Thanks in advance.

  8. I just wanted to pop back in and say that my issues have been resolved. I retraced all my wires to the 8-pin PCB and everything was wired up correctly, but I still had the problem. Switching the R G B channels, as suggested by Crayon King, fixed everything right up. Also, using the OSSC at the settings suggested greatly improved noise. Turned out to be a great gift for my friend (and I already pulled out my Inty to mod for myself). Thanks again for the help - super quick to respond to every private message and worked with me on here and over eBay.

Thanks again! This mod is fantastic. Pics are included (the two different title screens are the two palette options using the switch). Also, check the CRT pics for comparison to original RF out. I WILL be getting more for other consoles!

  9. Hello all! I purchased this kit off eBay a little while back and attempted the install last night. Picture looked sharp for the most part (some interference is present occasionally - I did leave in the RF unit, not sure if this is causing it) but the colors are completely off. I'm away now til Monday evening and can't share photos of the actual mod til then, but I was curious if anyone could tell what is wrong just from these photos? My guess is I have a couple of the RGB lines crossed (also, I realize the image is dark - I am using a csync wired 8pin from Retro-Access and am too lazy to remove resistors). The game being played is "Horse Racing". You can see some of the interference in the border of the last image.

    Thanks in advance.

How and where can I get a couple of copies. Been trying for years - followed main site but never saw updates - realized two late that I missed out on batches through forums. Thanks!!!

  11. Looking to buy a Non-Tendo R.O.B. cart or for any info on if the ROM was ever released publicly. I know we are not allowed to request ROMs for distribution but I figured it was okay since it is Homebrew. I contacted the creator but he has not been on since August 5th so I am just posting a general question/Want to Buy thread for it. I couldn't find any other info online so any help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

  12. Alright so the 64gb USB is already FAT32. I tried clearing it and loading one folder with a GDI image in it and all the .bins etc. Did not work. Still said no files on drive. I cleared it and was using 'command prompt' to format it as FAT32 again (I have Windows 7). Currently it is verifying that the drive is FAT32 (8% and slowly crawling). I don't really think this will help but I am hoping for the best. Is there anything I should know about the types of drives to use?

Meh I just wana DC off an HDD!

  13. That's what I was planning to do. I'm using a v1, us-ntsc, Dreamcast. I set the 300 ohm resistor and they are .GDI, good dumps. Ssf2x is jap and sf3 is us. I'm using a 2gb usb (2.0 I believe). I tried a 64gb (2.0 also I think) and the games didn't even appear on the drive (although I had all sorts of files in there with them)

  14. Hey anyone want to lend a helping hand? I installed my board and tried running a couple games and had MAJOR slow down issues. I tried Street Fighter 3 and it took over a minute for the game to start.. The audio played at about 2x the sloooow frame rate of the video, but once the match loaded it played fine. Super Street Fighter 2x just stayed slow. Took nearly eight minutes to start a match... Then it kept playing slow/choppy
