  1. I'm left handed, and I prefer the left hand on the joystick or trackball. In cases where the controls are not ambidextrous, I would actually cross my right arm underneath my left arm so I could still play. It looks strange but I really have to do it that way. I think the standard is joystick on the left with buttons to the right, or centered joystick with buttons on both sides, so it's not typically a problem for me, but there are cases where I need to do the crossed arms method.
  2. Well don't get too bent out of shape, as even the Confused adds +1 to that user's imaginary internet social reputation points.
  3. You ALWAYS see one. The moment one is about to be cycled off the board, a new one appears. Someone craves attention is all that I see. I don't really care about the content, but it's the attention seeking behavior and spamming which is annoying. I get a kick out of random things most people post on the status updates, on the other hand I don't need to see a constant stream of the same thing when the site has options that facilitate discussion way better than bumping the status bar constantly. I also agree with you, why do I care so much? I know, it's stupid to care, and I feel stupid bitching about it. But, it's also really annoying. And I am aware that my bitching about it is also annoying.
  4. Or, could it be a collapsible module like the other sections of the forum?
  5. I'm having trouble finding the game list for the Defender partycade. A1UP doesn't even have it on their website. Could you list them for us, because I'd like to see the difference and what they replaced Paperboy with.
  6. Here's an unsolicited remark about the colors on that cartridge, coming from a professional printer. (It's the only area of expertise I can claim on this site) Notice the obvious faded lower 2/3rds? These were probably all black in appearance at one time, and you would not have been able to notice the distinct layers as we see now after 40 years. The upper part has remained deep black because the Yellow goes all the way across in this section. So, the black on the upper section has faded with time, but the yellow under there has kept it dark. In this style of printing you always print light colors first, then dark. The yellow was layed down first , with the black printing plate second. This was certainly Alcohol ink used in the process, in the 1970's it was industry standard for flexo printing. This is a great picture because the faded black has this purple tinge to it, and alcohol black actually looks like that in the ink tray, kind of purple-ish.
  7. It's pretty good. Paperboy is unplayable however, and unfortunate that a more appropriate game couldn't have been substituted.
  8. I know it's incredibly superficial, but the attention whore style of overdone cabinet art always kept me from playing these in the arcade. I won't even consider the A1UP version because the cab art is so hideous.
  9. I cleaned up the OP, took out alot of trash cluttering up the list. Still offering $200 for the rest of the Atari 2600 stuff. Thanks for looking
  10. Well, I pre-ordered the T2 cab! I had some real reservations about it, having only a single game. It was really down to this or the Ridge Racer cabinet. The Ridge Racer is such a better overall value with 5 games, all of which I never even seen at any arcades around here, so I've never played them. But, I already have the Outrun cab, so I can get my steering wheel fix with that for now. The thing is I really wanted a light gun game, and Big Buck Hunter isn't exactly the kind of action I'm looking for. I mean, those are good games, but it's more like Advanced Duck Hunt. I would of course welcome BBH into my game room, but I don't have unlimited funds for this project right now. So, T2 is a gun game in the style that I really enjoy, and it fills a niche I do not yet have with light guns. I'm disappointed that there is only a single game, that really sucks to be honest. There's also a little bit of FOMO (Fear of missing out) going on, because I got into this stuff a little late, and for instance you can't get the Golden Tee or the Star Wars without paying exorbitant prices. A popular license such as T2 is likely to sell out even when it's more expensive than other cabs. Like Star Wars, it's the kind of game that will sell to fans, not just gamers.
  11. A person doesn't get these because they are economical or the 'smart' thing to do for a home arcade. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, any one of us could acquire arcade games at home for a far cheaper price and less space, with numerous options. I could buy a Multicade for $2000-3000 and be done, or build one of various MAME setups on a PC and build a custom joystick, or just buy an OG XBOX filled with ROMS (which I already own 2 of these). This is not about the just having the games to play in the cheapest quickest way possible, because if that was the goal then Arcade 1up certainly isn't for you. For me, this is about bringing home the actual feel of the old times at the arcade that I grew up in during the 80's. I now have real cabinets with nice artwork on the side, mounted controls. Sure, I don't have 4,000 games to choose from, but I don't care about that. Right now I have 6 cabinets that contain around a total of 100 games I can play. If I want to, I can turn all the machines on and have that arcade NOISE, I love that. It's about aesthetic and atmosphere. If you don't get what that means, then you don't want these machines.
  12. Even if Garfield was posted in the comic strip thread, it would still be in status updates. Let me give you an example: "Hey everyone, check out the latest Garfield cartoon that I posted in post #678 of the Comic Strip Thread!"
  13. A little bump. Have a great weekend everyone.
  14. If that were the case, you could remove those games and replace with Renegade and Super Dodge Ball. Still the same license.
  15. I just had an idea for a cabinet, sorry if it's not an original thought: Technos Japan licence, so the games would be -Double Dragon (probably the design of the cabinet, it's their most popular game) -Double Dragon II -Double Dragon III -The Combatribes -WWF Superstars -WWF Wrestlefest How about that? I think that is a blockbuster lineup, and in line with many of the other cabinets. It would only need to be 2-player with Joystick and 2 buttons each player.
  16. I have the Tempest Legacy cab. The trackball seems light-weight and small when I compare it to the Atari 5200 Trak-Ball controller, which itself uses something similar to a cue ball. But, the operation is smooth so far and hasn't given me any gameplay troubles. The spinner works fine, although I'm not a fan of the location of it. I'm sure it can be changed out for a better quality spinner, even though this one isn't terrible and only functional for one of the games. This spinner has smooth action and I would prefer a clicking action for Tempest to get that precise motion that works so well on Tempest 2000, but I never played the real arcade game before so I can't say how it originally was. The control panel is flat too, which I would prefer an angled panel instead. Overall I'm happy with it, the game selection is really good and it has quite a few games I never played before, so it was a great value for me. If you want to hear some real bitching about it, I'm sure others will chime in, or you could go about 20-30 pages back and read all the pissing and moaning about the button placement.
  17. Very true. One of the local stores here has a very nice shelf of console boxes that line the entire upper rim of the store. I've asked multiple occasions to purchase different boxes including an A2600 box only to be told that stuff is just for decoration and not for sale.
  18. It's a lot different, but better than that game. You know how you can blaze through an entire game of Revolution in 3-4 hours? It takes 3-4 weeks for me to finish a game of Civ 6. That's with about an hour or two of gameplay every night.
  19. Very nice to deal with, no problems.
  20. I had no issues dealing with @Chuck D. Head, he paid!
  21. @AtariBrian bought a nice amount of games from me, no problems here. Still a good member!
  22. @Omnibro bought a couple Genesis games and was very nice. Thanks!
