Thats a nice collection there...are you trying to sell it all as one? Or are you selling everything seperate?

Good lord thats a complete ripoff. Thats almost the retail price that it was on the JagCD launch day. You don't really need a brand new one do you? You should be able to get a complete and boxed, used JagCD for under $100. Although, I can see having a brand new one would be nice, but $200? Oh no. The unit isn't good enough or rare enough to warrant that price.

"Mom sold my Atari Collection at a Yard Sale" Supp
Cobra Kai replied to Kenwood's topic in Atari 2600
Allow me to quote Mr. T: "I will destroy any man, that tries to take what I got" -
I use Elmers Glue Stick Works like a charm. I stayed away from using double sided tape because of experience using it on posters in the past. If the tape starts to wear out, it will peel from the cartridge easy enough, but you will have a heck of a time peeling it from the label without tearing it.

Sadly it doesn't exist. After much research it has been determined that the late 84 beta for the Atari 8-bits was as far as it ever got. Crystal Castles was being developed for the Atari 8-bit then was going to be ported to the 5200. Since the 8-bit version was never finished the 5200 port was never started (or bearly started, but I highly doubt it). However that doesn't mean that someone couldn't finish up the 8-bit proto (it's pretty much done except for sound and music) and port it to the 5200 (HINT! HINT!). Tempest Well if someone can pull of an awesome port of Burgertime I see no reason that Crystal Castles couldn't happen I'd gladly buy it up! *nudge nudge*

I would rather just see a 5200 version of the game!

I have alot of good closuep pictures of my game collection, you can visit my website here: http://mysite.verizon.net/res8rb4n/myradvi...tion/index.html I think verizon has some kind of limit on viewing, because every once in awhile it will give you a 'locked' message..if you get that just try again awhile later.

Nobody really talks about the two awesome Pinball games for the Jaguar; Pinball Fantasies and Ruiner Pinball. What do you think about them? Yay or Nay? Personally, these two games get more consistent play than any other Jaguar game I own, and are usually the reason I decide to plug the Jaguar in after a long hiatus from the machine. These 2 titles are really the best Pinball games I've ever played on a console, and I think even better than Devil's Crush(tg16) which I own as well. I'm a big fan of video pinball games and what grips me the most about these two games is: a)Variety of tables b)realism c)graphics ...and what a deal it is by the way, where you get two relatively cheap($15 each complete) pinball cartridges that total a whopping 6 different tables! I like Pinball Fantasies best because of its ultra-realistic ball/table physics, and it has generally realistic tables to match...I always think that any one of these tables would be great in real life. Probably Stone's and Bones is the most realistic table, with the way the ramps are set up, and the classic bumper config. Thats probably the best table in the game anyway, and it has a really cool theme. Partyland is the other table I play alot, only because I can kinda figure out what to do in that one, and it is really a beautiful table to look at. The Jag really shows off it's color pallete here. Partyland has good ramps and objectives, but the ball tends to drain down the center to easily if you miss a ramp shot. Billion Dollar Game Show is just way too hard, I can never figure out how to get the big prizes, because the combo shots required are just too difficult...but it's still fun to play and it reminds me of Smash TV...I think it's the artwork. The Race Car table is ok, but my least favorite and I don't play it much. I like Ruiner Pinball because it's a less serious simulation, and the tables are strictly videogame tables and gameplay. These are hard though, but they have really cool and innovative designs. I especially like Ruiner because the WWIII theme is really played out in full, with missile launchers as your flippers, and the goal of moving from Defcon 5 to Defcon 1...and I like how the big bomber at the top drops bombs, and there's that big tank that rolls around the table....what a great game. However its so hard, I've only gotten to Defcon 4! The ramp shots are hard to make, especially on the right side table. Tower is another hard table...its very fun, but again..the ramp shots are way hard, and its really difficult to keep your ball in the top section. The ball physics in this cartridge are far different from PF. The ball moves lightning fast, as well as the flippers. Plus on Tower, there's like a ramp which has backward gravity or something, because even if you barely get the ball to the entrance, it like sucks you up in it. This game is wild! These are two of the very best Jaguar games available, and I think it kinda shows off the Jags 2d graphical capabilities, especially the color pallette, much like Rayman did. Am I wrong here, or do these games have really awesome graphics? More so PF than Ruiner I think.

this might be a silly question, but will it be available thru the AtariAge store? I was putting off buying another Jaguar game until this game came out so I could save on shipping....so how bout it?

You don't really think that the hardcore Jaguar fans are going to admit that the Jag library is mostly crap do you? Honestly, can you deny that Tempest 2000 is NOT one of the BEST games ever created? If you can deny that then you are a bigger man than me I guess. Put together a list of the 100 best games of all time, and T2000 would not deserve to be on that list? I think its pretty much the well-recognized truth as well that DOOM is one of the best video games of all time...perhaps not the Jaguar version, but it is true that the Jag version is the best running one on cartridge format, but it does lack a couple enemies. And for platformers, I can't think of another platform game more beautiful than Rayman, which debuted on the Jaguar. It's not just beauty with this game either, it actually has great gameplay, control, audio, and HUGE sprites for the bosses! The level design is fantastic too...to me, this is one of the greatest games ever created. Now, does the Jaguar have a 'mostly awesome library'? That would be biased of me to say YES, but I'll still say YES...because in reality, I enjoy more of the games I own, than those that I abhore. Most Jaguar fans will admit that there are plenty of turkeys on the system, but as a fan myself, I think that the Jaguar's reputation as being a total bomb in the games department is mostly media driven bias against the Jag that has been going on since 1995. If you don't believe me, just look at those posts Gunstar had with archived reviews and previews of Jag games, those were 1993...but something happened later on that caused all the magazines to start hatin on the Jaguar...if you don't believe me, there is an article on some atari site(maybe someone can dig it up) , but it's classic anti-jag bias in which EGM reviews DOOM on the Jaguar and DOOM on the 32X....of which we all know that Jaguar DOOM is clearly superior in almost every aspect, yet the 32x got super high ratings in EGM, while the Jag version ended up with barely above average scores like 6's and 7's. All I'm sayin is that I believe that the general opinion out there, that the Jaguar has a mostly awful game library, is just assumed thru legend and not actually playing the games. I think at the very least, it has the same good-games to bad-games ratio that is present among every other system out there.

I got some stuff too!

20$ for a complete boxed Jag is a great deal....and welcome to the strange, strange world of Jaguar. It's a great system to play and to collect for, because the majority of the games are very cheap to purchase. The Jaguar also has some of the the very best video games ever created! Enjoy.

I thought the game was very hard....but fun. It seemed like the only way I could kill enemies was to dance them to death, but you can't use that power all the time. I kinda question the rarity of this title. Digital Press rates it at an R3, but this is one that I simply cannot find in the wild whatsover. I know that Moonwalker probably did sell very well when it was released since MJ was still very popular at the time. Maybe it's just regionally scarce here, but I would consider Moonwalker to be an R5 atleast....what about you guys, do you see alot of this game in the wild? Is R3 still a good rarity rating for it?

S.T.U.N. Runner!!, Hard/Race Drivin.... Can you guys imagine how well the Jaguar could of handled a port of these games? The Genesis versions of Hard/Race Drivin are lackluster, they don't have the polygon pushing power that the Jag does...the games run too slow on the Genny. Actually, I think alot of the Atari Games games that made it to Lynx would have turned out even better on the Jaguar. Hydra, Xybots, Roadblasters!!

I got my Jaguar very near release date, because I remember it was really cold outside still. I bought the Jaguar from a game store called Megagames in my hometown $249! I only had Cybermorph for atleast two months...but I'll tell ya...when Cybermorph was brand new and original...I thought this was the greatest thing to ever happen to gaming. I spent countless hours flying around collecting pods, and that chic that talks to you was simply amazing. The first cartridge I bought was Trevor McFur, and I was astounded yet again by the beauty of this game. Then AVP came out and I got that on release day! I got to play a demo of it at Megagames a few months in advance...the presentation of that test run left me speechless and anxious for that game..I had to have it on release day. One of the few games in my collection that I actually did purchase on its release day. People just don't understand, for the most part, that at this particular point in history(mid 1994)...these games were state of the art, masterpieces.

I've cleaned the Driving controllers the same way. It requires more concentration to take them apart, but once you open up the assembly, there's a disc in there that needs to be cleaned, and some other contacts. There is originally some type of grease/lube inside these components, as well as the paddles...which is why its important to spray some teflon lube in there....Don't use Silicon Spray...as silicon becomes sticky over time. And try not to spray too much in there either. That white box that contains the parts needs to be pried open very carefully...because it does snap together and opens like a hinge...the plastic is very fragile. And it also has those 6 wires connected to it....the only real problem I've had in the past was sometimes those wires disconnected while I was cleaning it, or opening it up....you just have to make sure you know where the wires go if they fall out of their slots.
-
I take the pots completely apart and scrub the carbon build-up off of the brushes....then I spray teflon lube on the parts and put everything back together... it takes longer but its not a temporary fix like spray.

Just buy any and all 2600 cartridges you can find. You'll eventually resort to this anyway, as you become addicted like the rest of us. I highly recommend bypassing this testing stage where you pick and choose your games....cuz you are going to want them all eventually anyway. If you are just starting out you are extra lucky...because this is the time where you can even save a buttload of money by purchasing large 'game lots' from the forum, or from ebay without the worry of getting duplicates.

I just picked up an extra copy of this game this weekend, I don't need it but I grabbed it because its hella good trade bait! This one is pretty hard to find, it is complete with case, manual, and the poster that came with it. The poster features the artwork found on the case insert on one side, and on the back there is a display of the 6 different maps playable in the game. I would trade it even up for any one of the following Sega Genesis titles, which must be complete and in good condition: Caliber .50 Double Dragon Genghis Khan 2: Clan of the Gray Wolf Gauntlet IV Liberty or Death PTO:Pacific Theater of Operations Pirates!Gold Space Harrier II Syd of Valis Vapor Trail

Trevor Mcfur Revisited: a first look at it and the Jag
Cobra Kai replied to Gunstar's topic in Atari Jaguar
I remember those days...when the Jag wasn't everyone's whipping boy. Thanks for these cool articles. I've always thought Trevor McFur had awesome graphics, but this game's flaws lie in the control interface if you ask me. Never could appreciate the use of the keypad for choosing special weapons...the game is too hard and too fast to mess around with that. -
Any Genesis baseball games that track season player stats? I have Larussa Baseball and boy is that ever horrible. It does have all those cool statistic cards that came with the game though...those are kinda neat.
-
That game is hard! I am impressed with the level of detail, and how in-depth the gameplay is with Abrams and 688 Attack Sub. I have both but never play em really...that comes with having too many games I guess. Here's my list I would rather not do without: -Rambo III -Space Harrier II(I need to get this game) -Afterburner II -Streets of Rage II -M.U.S.H.A. -Gain Ground -MERCS -Gunstar Heroes -Risk -Golden Axe I, II -Tyrants Some of those arcade conversions are superb, especially Mercs.

Gyruss rocks on the 5200! Good pickup I say ole chap... ...best music I've heard on the machine as well...the whole production of Gyruss presents the player with an overall great conversion of the arcade game. The farthest I have gotten is Mars...
