  1. You guys forgot Ghostbusters Not a launch day game, but it was with the second wave of early release titles(Rambo III, Forgotten Worlds), and certainly before Phantasy Star II. PSII was on the tail end of launch games, everyone was waiting around for that thing. Heck, we had all those sports games before PSII was released. I remember the next big thing after PSII was the release of Sword of Vermillion...and then the big kahuna Strider at a whopping 8 megs($79.99!), Sega bragged. Strider is a great arcade conversion, but it has flicker like Super Castlevania IV(snes) has slow-down. Look at that amazing list of games though...the Genesis has the best launch games ever, especially when they were new. Now we notice the flaws of the games but back then those games were out of this world.
  2. Pocket, thats pretty sweet dude.
  3. PinBot and High Speed are sweet games.... If you have a Jaguar, be sure to get Ruiner Pinball and Pinball Fantasies...IMO those are the top two console pinballs ever, and both on our beloved Jaguar!....I like em even better than the highly esteemed Devil's Crush for TG-16(which is awesome too )...and just look at the value there...for 2 Pinball cartridges, you get 6 tables!
  4. Well, my favorite 5200 games are: -Centipede -Missile Command -Millipede -All 4 Pac-Man games -Berzerk -Defender -Gyruss -Jungle Hunt and about 85% of the rest of the library...
  5. ... in your subjective opinion, yes! opinions are implied anyway, there's no logical reason for someone to be required to write IMO everytime they speak. The 5200 does have the best good to bad ratio anyway, and the 7800 sucks ass, so there.
  6. Thanks for the thumbs up jetset...right back at ya on a great trade Now you need to buy a Millipede repro from the AA store, it's even better than Centipede I think. It's just got more to do, and its not as ridiculously hard as Centipede is.
  7. Don't get into Neo Geo if you can't get over the money issue. It's funny to always mention Neo gamers as elitist snobs with too much money, who also DON'T play the games, but rather just collect them Neo gamers are gamers just like the rest of us guys. I had the same apprehensions about the NEO before I actually dove into it. I kept putting off getting a system because I couldn't bring myself to spend the kind of money required. I always believed that the NEO was the pinnacle of 2D gaming, from my experience in the arcades, and I still do believe that to this day. Once I actually took that leap of faith required to get a system and a couple games, I felt no buyers remorse, I didn't feel ripped off, rather I was reassured by the fact that the games are just that good, and they are worth the money. I quickly realised it wasn't about the cost of the games. I had to put that aside and ask myself "do I want to play the best games, or do I want to worry about money"...well as a gamer the answer is simple. I want to play the best games, so I made the necessary sacrifices to obtain them. All I can say is for me, when I saved the money and bought Metal Slug 3 brand new in 2000 for $285, I thought yeah this is getting crazy...but when I got that game, plugged that huge ass cart into my deck, grabbed the arcade quality controller and seen the exact game I played in the arcade...the $285 was meaningless compared to that experience. This notion that Neo gamers don't play as much as they collect is rather ridiculous, and I don't know where people base this from. I found that for every Neo game I own, I probably would have spent that much in quarters at the arcade, for what I spent on the game to buy it. What you do find in the Neo community, is a more detailed look and more care given to the condition of the games, because yes, they are very expensive. People have the right to know exactly what they are getting when spending hundreds of dollars. I actually find it rather elitist to say the Neo is nothing special. That tells me that you think you've seen so much, your gaming taste is so advanced beyond anyone else, that you simply can't be impressed with the Neo's tiny capabilities. It's easy to look back in hindsight and compare it to the SNES and Genesis, because the leap in technology and capabilities the NEO has over these machines isn't very much when compared to the leaps we see taken today. But back then, it represented, in SNK's own words "A quantum leap in technology". Again though, if you feel that money is the key aspect in gaming, I suggest staying away from the NEO entirely, because it will drive you crazy and maybe bring you to bitterness against the machine. It's never been cheap to play Neo Geo...never. There's a few rich guys who collect every Neo game sure, but I'm not rich at all, I was just willing to sacrifice in other areas to play these games. I hate to use this word, but I think it is a matter of how 'Hardcore' you are, I mean, there are people who will simply not settle for anything less than the actual arcade game, people who have superguns and jamma pcbs. It's not elitist to do that, it's a gamer who does that.
  8. The demand side of Battlesphere is artificially pumped up by people who own 4 or more copies of the game that just sit on their shelf. This is the only game in the entire video game market that I see this behavior with. Supply and Demand theory works here, but it doesn't work in the conventional sense, and it should always be pointed out that there are a few who are keeping many from playing this game, it's certainly not the money that keeps me from playing. It's not just an expensive game, heck Neo Geo games are way more expensive but also much more easily attainable, but people actually hoard Battlsphere. Anyone who thinks they have something unique because they have a $150 game needs to get over themselves, thats an average at best game cost for me lately, I'm not bragging, but seriously, there are people out there that laugh at this Battlesphere hoarding behavior to artificially pump up value.
  9. I'll do an even trade for the Miner 2049er for a working trak-ball...here is a pic, it has some scuffs on it that were there when I bought it used. I have since purchased a better condition trakball, so I can easily let this go. I assume the Miner2049er is loose, thats a fair trade I think, and I'll pay for shipping on my end. If you are interested shoot me an email at Gunstarhero9@cs.com
  10. I've got a Mint condition Sonic Wings 3 for Neo Geo I'll trade straight up for it.
  11. I have Clue for Genesis. Also, Mario Party 1,2,3 fit into this category, actually making the board game concept really fun on a console.
  12. Those are fair prices if the consoles are complete, and I mean that they include the boxes. If that JagCD is loose, it's not really worth $75 IMO...just make sure that you get the power AC that comes with the CD unit! Also make sure everything works before you take it out of there.
  13. You'll see people with multiple Jag consoles because alot of them like to be able to try out the network feature of the Jaguar. Doom and Battlesphere support this. I openly admit that people with 4 copies of Battlesphere irks me a bit because I want one of my own, and most of those copies just sit there all the time on a shelf, and with the limited print run, tons of people are missing out. I have 3 2600 consoles because there are so many different variations of the machine, I have a six switch Sears telegames console, the 2600 jr. and regular 4 switch Atari Woodgrain 2600. It's just more for collecting purposes, not hoarding, as you can't really hoard anything on the 2600 as there is so much of all of it. All of us here could have 50 2600 consoles, and the price of them wouldn't budge. I don't know a reason to own more than one Jag CD, but there are plenty of them going around so it really doesn't matter. I can't think of a practical reason to have more than one, since I dont' think there are any networkable CD games.
  14. I have the same problem sometimes. Fixing it is just a matter of re-inserting the game cartridge.
  15. I have Raiden on the PSX and I like that one. I should get the Jaguar version sometime then eh? Uh, Raiden Project and Jag Raiden are vastly different. You would be let down to think that Jag Raiden would be similar to RP. RP has Raiden II, thats all you need. Raiden Project rocks, it's full screen, and has vastly superior graphics and sound fx/music. I like Raiden on Jag, it still plays good, and is a good port of the arcade, but it's not full screen and simply does not even come close to comparing to RP. I only play the Jag version because I no longer own RP(or a PSX for that matter)...If I had both versions, Jag Raiden would sit on the shelf as a collection piece.
  16. I didn't know there was anything special about those Drivers. , though it's always fun to find the Sears versions of stuff. I have a complete boxed copy of Race w/controllers still, I just figured it for a common.
  17. Well, I just built myself a nice Paddle controller thanks to this thread Only thing is I can't get the fire buttons to work with this old 5200 stick for nothing, it badly needs a new flex circuit, so I have to hook it up to my Competition Pro, and use the fire buttons on there to launch the ball in Super Breakout. I really want to mod a perfect working 5200 stick, so I can try out Galaxian with the Paddle, because I know Galaxian incorporates Analog control. And since its just left/right control, I think a Paddle might work good with Galaxian. Anyone wanna try it out and let us know?
  18. Thanks for the compliments Gents As soon as I get another bookcase, I'm going to dedicate one totally to the Jaguar, then I'll take another, better, picture. This year I plan on increasing my Jag collection by at least 20 games...boxed of course
  19. -DOOM -AVP -T2K -Brutal Sports Football: Has to be one of the most unique Football games I've ever played. It's gets so crazy later in the game with chopped off heads laying all over the field. The crazy assortment of weapons and power-ups available make for a different game every time. Glad to see this instead of Madden on the machine. -Ultra Vortek: I would say this is just a step above Mortal Kombat, but not as good as MK2. I like the multiple annihilations, and poopalities. It just has a little bit more of everything that MK has, without having overly complicated finishers that were found in MK2. MK2 got ridiculous, but if you could remember everything, it was the better game. Ultra Vortek is easily on par with MK1's graphics, and I can live with the sound fx. It's actually even more of an evil environment than MK was, which was suprising. Too bad nobody but Jag fans would ever admit that UV is better than MK. -I-WAR: Awesome soundtrack. I like the whole 'inside a computer' environment here. It makes it easier to accept the bland 3D graphics, and all around blockiness. There are serious camera issues here, something tht still plagues modern 3D games today, but my advice is to play the game in First Person view and you will have a much more enjoyable, and immersive experience. Your vehicle has a great assortment of weapons, and there are tons of different enemies to destroy. It can get tedious in later stages while you hunt for that last elusive POD though. But, you know, it seems the standard fare in today's 3D platformers mimick I-WAR's general gameplay...basically run around all over the place, shooting stuff, and find the hidden packages.
  20. 1. Turmoil: Definitely has a Tempest feel to it, and has its' moments of Zen. 2. Commando Raid: Not sure if this qualifies, but you do shoot alot of stuff. Plenty of variety, and a good learning curve. 3. River Raid 4. Missile Command 5. Desert Falcon
  21. Atari brand Cart Casings have Dust Covers, 3rd party Casings do not. Clean the contacts, they should be fine.
  22. Definitely get Super Pac-Man and Space Dungeon. I'm highly biased in favor of the 5200, so I'm going to say to not worry about what titles to get, just get anything you can, chances are the game will be good no matter what it is. There are very few stinkers on the 5200.
  23. I know the feeling I share in your enjoyment. Get yourself a copy of Millipede as well as Centipede. You won't be disappointed. The Trak-Ball is why the 5200 version of Centipede blows away the 7800 version gameplay wise. I love the design of the 5200 TB, it wasn't made like a cheap piece of shit ya know. It's total class all the way, from having dual side controls for either left or right-handed players, to the Heavy construction so you have something that doesn't move around on you while you use it. The ball itself is excellent, basically a Cueball...making it also nice and heavy as to give you better control...I think the heavyness of the ball makes it easier to stop it for more precise aiming especially on Missile Command where you need pinpoint accuracy to nail those smart bombs.
  24. Don't even worry about it man. Sounds to me like you think being a collector is a bad thing. It's better that you have those games and are taking care of them, keeping them clean and such, whereas they could be rotting away in a garbage dump or collecting dust and rusting out in a goodwill bin.
  25. Also, there's nothing stopping anyone from re-shrinkwrapping a used game. I've bought from GoAtari before and had no problems, but still, anyone can shrinkwrap a used game. I have used games that look like new still, that if I shrinkwrapped it no one would know otherwise.
