  1. I will give it a whirl on sunday. Thanks for the input! I thought that was a burn you can see on the pcb if you look on the bottom photo. Looks like someone may have had the soldering iron on the solder a little too long. thank you
  2. Greetings AtariAge, I previously posted a thread about video clarity troubles with my vader 2600. In passing conversations on possibilities of caps and possible dirty RCA jacks. This is what i found on accident. The RF modulator is resting on the solder rather than soldered to the board. I am guessing this is a big part of my snow picture issue? Look at that burnt PCB. Where's your burn? TR Think I can recover if I solder the modulator in right with that burn?
  3. Is it possible to add the star field effect bug from cosmic ark in the communist mutants from space?
  4. Anyone interested in the Coleco Vision games Frenzy and Smurfs? Frenzy comes with the original instruction manual. Looking to trade for some atari 2600 games.

  6. Wow, sounds like that the general opinion is Todd's scores are BS. Which is a relief. I haven't researched the people whom scores I have perused in Twin Galaxies. I guess if one of my friends or family accomplish a high score worth documenting in Cosmic Ark I will be sure to record the process properly and probably just post it on YouTube.
  7. I was suspicious when I seen his score, but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt being I don't know him. That is great advice! Thank you!! I am going to start putting that strategy into effect.
  8. I would love to hear his side of the story in regards to his personal accomplishment with Cosmic Ark. Very cool, we are having fun trying to reach his score at my place.
  9. That is a shame and at the same time explains why there is such a ridiculous difference between first place and second. It would be interesting to see what Todd has to say about his score.
  10. I am not sure about the facts on his score submissions, do tell. I guessed he submitted a tape as the left picture of his score submission looks like bad tracking possibly. That would be a bummer if that is a fake.
  11. I was on Twin Galaxies and found Cosmic Ark Champion Todd Rogers high score of 1,264,850 - 04-06-2001. This is an amazing score, my family and friends have a score sheet competing against each other with this game. Our goal is to get a score higher than Christian Keilback whom scored second highest Cosmic Ark on Twin Galaxies with a score of 83,700. Todd Rodgers Cosmic Ark score of 1,264,850 blows my mind. Is the video footage of this available on the internet. I found this picture, that is about it. Set the bar pretty high!
  12. According to the posts Stardust4ever brought to my attention he sounds right on about the problem. Just thought my RF Modulator was kind of strange.
  13. Yeah, bummer. it seems to be ok. i hope. I will see after I do what is discussed aboved.
  14. Good read, I read through your thread and all the threads posted in your thread on this subject. In regards to soldering, unfortunately a few days ago I mangled my right wrist in a moving accident and just had surgery. Fortunately, I discovered a local computer & electronics repair business that told me they would do the soldering. I found a +5V Fixed-Voltage Regulator 7805 at Radio Shack. Is that thermal compound under that Regulator shown in the picture I posted above? I haven't found a capacitor as of yet. I need a .1uf ceramic 25 volt capacitor, is this correct? Can the volts be be higher than 25 if it is only option at my local component store? I will connect the Right-Angle "F" Plug to RCA Jack adapter directly to the RF Modulator. Drill a hole in the back of console shell and install a coax coupler. Then connect a coax cable from the right angle adapter to the coupler inside the console. Is this what you did? I tried to find a right-angle RCA coax connector so I wouldn't have to use a adapter but i had no luck. Also, did you use the ferrite choke on the coax cable inside the console close to the coupler? Last but not least, do most Atari RF Modulators ride this high up? -Thank You-
  15. Thank You Stardust4ever for the welcome and the helpful information. I will read through that in the morning. Does this picture below reference to the correct 5V regulator and green "chicklet"? Will this work for the rca-f adapter? Here is a video I uploaded of that snowy look I am having. It is a rough looking video I took with my camera. Starting :30 shows it the best. -Thank You-
  16. This blew me away! A friend and I were playing the 2600 Atari DK the other day. Talking about how the scoring and the gingerbread man leaves a lot to be desired. That is how I ended up here. Amazing what you have already done with this. I really hope you go all the way with this fine work! Thanks for sharing!
  17. Hello, I am having trouble with the Clarity of my 2600. When I first purchased this Atari and tried it on my tv there was a lot of snow and color shift. The video looked bad, so I went to Radio Shack. This is what I picked up.. 6-Ft. Shielded Cable, RCA Plug to RCA Plug Gold-Plated "F" Jack Connector to Phono Plug Right-Angle RCA Phono Plug to RCA Phono Jack Snap Choke Core I disassembled my Atari and removed the stock RCA cable and removed the dust inside the shell and board. I installed the right angle RCA adapter, connected the 6' cable, attached the Choke Core toward the other end and finally attached the "F" Jack connector. When I connected it to the tv and powered it on I thought it looked great. Over a short period of time I noticed the brightness would change occasionally and the picture would be blurred or wavey lines noticeable in bright colors in the screen. This problem leads to small objects in games very hard to see at times. Anyone have suggestions on how I can fix this problem or perhaps constructive criticism on subject? Here is a few pictures of my Atari main board and my set up. Click here to see more photos of the board. - Thank You -
  18. Has anyone here on Atari Age used a Universal Game Case with an Atari 2600 game cover from The Cover Project? I think they look great and requires little skill to assemble, unless you have to create a cover for a game not yet added. Here is a link to someone whom posted their Atari 2600 cover work on the cover project forum. If you have done this could you share the pros/cons? Perhaps share photos of your own game case in its completion? -Thanks
  19. I looked here in Atari Age for the Atari 2600 "Darth Vader" instruction manual. I couldn't seem to find it on here, perhaps I didn't search for the right keywords. Does anyone know where I cand find a scan of the Atari 2600 "Darth Vader" Instruction Manual? - Thank You
