I just came here looking for info on my own Dimerco Electronics made 2600. Actually, I just saved it from my Dad's storage and looked to see if it was a Sunnyvale or what. My serial number is much lower I noticed. Also, there's a number "340" between the label and the power socket. What does that mean?

From the album: 2600
What's this? What does 340 refer to on this Atari 2600? -

The bottom label of the 2600 I got from my dad. Dimerco Electronics. -

Just rescued from my dad's storage and still dirty. See my other picture for the bottom label. This is a Dimerco Electronics version. -
Whoa! I didn't know something like this existed! COOL!

How does that work with claims? I mean, does the seller get reimbursed for the value of the lost product?

Lotharek doesn't put the name "UltraSatan" or anything like it on the packaging. It may just be bad luck. I've ordered computer parts and also regular books within my own country and had them delay so long (like a month or more after expected delivery date) that the company re-shipped a replacement order and wrote the original shipment off as lost (and they file a claim to recover funds or whatever). It can happen with anything. Sorry to hear about your misfortune!

Yes, it will work. You should read the thread called "Ultrasatan" in this forum. On page 8 there's a discussion regarding which TOS versions work, and how they differ is explained more in the following pages. But I'd read the whole thread if you're going to get one.

When Should a Memory Test Occur?
AnakiMana replied to TheAtarianGuy's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
If you've seen a boot-time mem test, you're seeing a system with TOS 2.06 or newer. The STfm models never shipped with TOS newer than 1.04, so it's normal that you don't see it on yours. I agree with Official Ninja about using Sysinfo to check. I'm sure a memory tester is also available, but I don't know of it personally. -
I think the MIST is more attractive to more people because of the abandonware game collections freely available for the ST/STE line. There were a lot more people who had those systems, and have fond memories of games and music creation. Instead of just techies and programmers, you're now including gamers. And the price is low enough to attract more casual nostalgic people.

Except that Hades & Milan are not available anymore... and because of their age, many of them are failing. The FireBee is pretty much all that remains, and it's very expensive for its specs in today's world. The fact is: these are hobbyist computers. If we want the fastest and most compatible with everything in the world today, we buy or build a Windows/Mac/Linux computer. The Atari platform... the FireBee... is far removed from today's computing world. Nobody wants one except us nostalgic techies and programmers. It's hard for most of us to justify spending $1,000 on something we don't need. If the price was $200-400, I would feel comfortable buying a fairly barebones project that would give me a lot of enjoyment.

New to the (virtual) ST - emulator advice?
AnakiMana replied to neglectoru's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I really like STeem. I will try Hatari someday soon. Honestly, you should try them all! -
You can't just replace the drive in an Atari hard drive enclosure with a normal drive. They used MFM drives. You can find them on sale, refurbished, for as little as ~$100 (US) but they're like 44mb in size. You wouldn't want to mess with adapting an MFM drive interface to anything more modern, either. I think the only logical way to go is with an UltraSatan or similar SDcard drive.

I would buy one. It would be great to have a boxed one in the living room on the big TV.

I also received my UltraSatan today, only 8 *calendar* days after it shipped. Estimated delivery time was 8-15 *business* days! I won't have time to play with mine until after April 15th. I'm super busy with customers (I run my own on-site computer repair and server maintenance business) and doing taxes for the first time... and realizing how unprepared I've been! Wish I was more organized from the beginning! But this reward awaits me when I'm finished!

Options for data transfer between Mac/PC and Atari
AnakiMana replied to Skarro's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
... that is, if your Mega has a hard drive bracket. If it was originally ordered without a HDD, the bracket wasn't included. -
Where can you buy Rainbow TOS besides B&C
AnakiMana replied to adolobe's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
OK, so maybe SELTOS is a good free alternative to resoldering on your motherboard... http://atari.8bitchip.info/tosload.htm -

AnakiMana replied to abraXXious's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Wow, I need to check that out, too. Would SELTOS allow me to run the UltraSatan (which requires 1.02) on my 1.0 STF? I'm guessing if TOS is the first thing that loads it wouldn't matter? -
Got a new to me 1040ST and hard dirves, now what?
AnakiMana replied to the11thdoctor's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I would also look into the PP (Peter Putnik) Driver. http://atari.8bitchip.info/pphdr.php Are your hard drives original Atari drives, or do you use SCSI through a add-on card or something? -
Lunar, that's the way I'm planning to use mine. Yeah, the ICD drivers were big enough to prevent me from playing a game on my 1mb 1040STF a few days ago. The same game played fine off the floppy when my hard drive was disconnected. I wonder what kind of memory footprint the PP driver and HDDRIVER have?

Where can you buy Rainbow TOS besides B&C
AnakiMana replied to adolobe's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I was considering this one after watching a YouTube review of it: http://www.mcumall.com/comersus/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4282 What do you think? Depending on what kind of time frame the OP wanted to upgrade, I might be able to provide the upgrade... -

AnakiMana replied to adolobe's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I'm in the same boat. Want to upgrade my STF from 1.0-1.4, and my STE from 1.06-2.06. I'm thinking about picking up a chip programmer, doing it myself, and offering the service to others. Eventually it would pay for the programmer... -
I'll post something once I've got my UltraSatan from Lotharek. Until then, I don't have an easy way to transfer the utility to my Atari.

Is it safe to sit a SC1435 on top of a Mega2?
AnakiMana replied to adolobe's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
How is the Mega case constructed? They must have steel frames since they designed it to hold up CRT monitors...
