  1. Hey Nurmix, I've been meaning to give your show a listen for quite some time, as I've heard a lot of good things! Hopefully with my new job, I'll have more time to listen to shows. Love the name of your segment, by the way. Would we be stepping on your toes if we did a similar segment then? It would have a different name, of course.
  2. Hey guys, It's been a while! Just wanted to let you know that the Super Show is still alive and well. It was a bit touch and go for a while with scheduling, but we're back and we're going to keep things monthly from now on--for those of you who might still be subscribed to us! I was thinking about doing a podcast plug section at the top of the show for each episode--talking about interesting points from shows within or outside our network like 2 Dudes and a NES, No Quarter, Retro Obscura, ColecoVisions, and Ferg's show. It might be a neat way to spotlight our fellow gaming podcasters. What do you guys think? If you like it, do you have any idea what I could call the segment? I'm either too tired to figure it out... or too lazy!
  3. Hey guys. We finally restarted Genesis Gems this week on Podomatic.com and iTunes. It's good to be back in the swing of things! Here's our podomatic page, if you'd like to give it a listen: http://genesisgemspodcast.podomatic.com/.
  4. Thanks for the shout-out for Genesis Gems on the newest CCGN, by the way. Means a lot coming from you guys. Landon and I are renaming it Sega Gems, and we're hoping to start it back up in about two weeks. We'll keep you guys posted. Thanks again!
  5. Congrats, Ferg! Thanks for the entertaining, informative, and consistent show on one of the best video game consoles I missed out on as a kid! You deserve this, my friend!
  6. As always, I enjoyed the closing track on Classic Console! ...Gotta have dead end justice!
  7. haha I'm busted! I have to admit; this is the first time I've ever played Haunted House, and I really enjoyed it! Just bought it for a buck on Ebay this week. Money well spent!
  8. RJ, If it makes you feel any better, we did discuss Haunted House for the 2600 and a Japanese Splatterhouse game for the Famicom in episode 13.
  9. Nice. Well, just know you guys have two nerds in NC listening regardless.
  10. Is this a new episode of NYPW? If so, Chris, RJ, S1500 and Ferg can only be awesome!
  11. Hey guys. I had to create a new URL and RSS feed for Sega Gems. Here are the links: URL: http://segagems.podomatic.com RSS: http://segagems.podomatic.com/rss2.xml I'll have the link for iTunes up by the end of the weekend. I'm also going to upload the old Genesis Gems episodes first and then we're going to start the new format here in about a week or so. Any Sega games you'd like us to play/discuss?
  12. Hey guys! Just wanted to say that we're bringing Genesis Gems back from the dead! We're going to make a few revisions though. We're going to call it Sega Gems, for one, in order to be able to cover some of the Sega arcade games, Game Gear games, Genesis and SMS games. My good buddy Landon's going to be the cohost, and we're going to try our best to keep it a weekly show as well. Looking forward to getting back into it!
  13. Hey guys. Well, we had to give Genesis Gems the axe--at least for now. It was hard trying to align everyone's schedule--including my own--in order to record. I have been considering doing a solo retro cast on my own schedule. Aside from banning Final Fantasy and YouTube talk, do you guys have any suggestions? I really respect Ferg, S1500, and Flack's solo casts, and I was thinking about doing something in the same vein. By the way, S1500, thank you for the plug on the latest Classic Console Gamer News. We'll be sure to return the favor! Love the music as always!
  14. I agree--the 200th episode was fantastic. I didn't know a whole lot about the Swordquest games, but now I'll have to keep my eye out for them at the local flea markets. ...And I see the word giggle, RJ. ...We're cool, right?
  15. @Chris and S1500: Thanks for the pointers, guys. I definitely agree with you both. Maybe Landon and I could record the Super Show once a month where we discuss a classic game we love. And for the second episode of the month, we could discuss a retro topic aside from video games. I definitely want the second episode to have a different name so it will be easier to differentiate between the two. We were planning on recording bi-weekly after the 10th episode anyway, so that just might work. The show would probably be under the same RSS feed, which that might aggrevate some listeners, but at least they can skip over the nongaming-related episodes if they want. All I know is that It would be a blast to talk about Ninja Golf for the 7800 on one show and talk about the Ghostbusters film the next! On a side note, I'm currently downloading episode 21 of Now You're Playing with Podcast. Looking forward to giving it a listen at work! Thanks again.
  16. Hey there, guys. I have a question for you. Landon and I have been discussing the format of The Retro Junkies, and we're a bit torn. On one hand, we love talking in depth about classic video games, and we were thinking about recording short, biweekly episodes based on a single game. On the other hand, we've toyed around with the idea of focusing on a variety of retro topics because our website includes content and discussion from classic toys and TV shows to classic films and comics. We would still stick with a major topic for each episode--say, the original Star Wars film for one episode, the He-Man cartoon series for the next followed by an Atari 7800 episode. Landon and I couldn't do an additional podcast, and we don't want our shows to be too long, so featuring games and other retro topics in a single episode wouldn't work. I'm just torn with the idea. I guess I lean towards sticking with video games since I like discussing them in detail, but as listeners (hopefully you guys still listen to our show!) what do you guys think?
  17. Hey Ferg! I just heard your shout out on episode 20. Thanks a lot, my friend! We'll be sure to return the favor on episode 2 tomorrow night. Take it easy!
  18. Thanks a lot, Mike! We're huge fans of your show!
  19. Thanks so much listening, Ferg! It's always nice to hear kind words from fellow podcasters. Your show was a huge inspiration for us starting Genesis Gems in the first place, as a matter of fact, so we really appreciate it. Hopefully Landon and I will be recording episode 9 of TRJ either July 20th or 27th. Can't wait to get back in the swing of things. Thanks again!
  20. Hey guys. If anyone here is a Sega Genesis fan, we have a new weekly podcast up on Podomatic called Genesis Gems Podcast. Our URL is http://genesisgemspo...atic.com/?try=1. Have a good one!
  21. The only general 80s podcasts I listen to is Stuck in the 80s which covers films, shows, and music from the 80s. They interview a lot of 80s icons of pop culture which makes the show interesting. I have more specific 80s comics/cartoon podcasts I listen to every now and then, but if you're looking for general pop culture, Stuck in the 80s is a lot of fun!
  22. Hey Harmik! Yeah, Derek's a good guy with a lot of neat projects he's working on. He's finished the 450 page SMS encyclopedia in PDF format, but I think I'm going to get the print version once it comes out. I'm old fashion, I guess! The iPad version is probably superior because of the interactive screenshots and gameplay videos, but I love the nostalgia of simply flipping through pages and displaying the magazines on my shelf. Also, I did read Retro Gamer this month. It was a good issue. I found out for the first time that Tonka, of all companies, actually bought the rights to the US Sega Master System games in the late 80s only to sell them back to Sega a couple of years later. I never knew that growing up. Oh, and that the Donald Duck game that was released in Europe is one of the rarest licensed Sega games. Good issue!
  23. Awesome! Thanks for the recommendations, guys! Here's what I have on my iPod right now: Atari 2600 Game by Game Podcast Classic Console Gamer News Gameroom Junkies Legacy Music Hour NES Podcast No Quarter The Retroist The Retro League Retrograde X S Gaming Podcast Plus I've got some other retro podcasts that focus on 80s and 90s pop culture, hockey, comics, wrestling, and a few HowStuffWorks podcasts. I'll have to give Twitch Asylum a listen! To be honest, I'm pretty sure I have way more podcasts on my iPod than music these days. I just like listening to shows to pass the time at work or when I'm stuck at the house doing yard work. Oh, and sometimes I keep one ear bud in around my wife too. Surprisingly, she doesn't mind!
  24. Hey RJ, I'd never heard of The Retroist, so I decided to download a few episodes today since I'm stuck inside studying for a final--it's really good! I'm about to give the Ms. Pac-Man episode a listen. That makes 3 retro podcasts I've gotten to find thanks to this forum!
  25. Hey Harmik! Our Sega Master System episode is up on Podomatic at http://retro-junkies.podomatic.com/. Take it easy!
