Ok I’ll capture the debug output today and post it. Were you able to NCD to those directories and get a directory listing?
-
Now I am having trouble with NCD
i changed my directory to uppercase: http://www.sideburn.com/FUJINET/
I can NCD to ftp://ftp.pigwa.net/ and then for an A (disk directory) on N: and get a listing.
but then if I NCD and hit return to clear then NCD back in and enter http://www.sideburn.com/FUJINET/ I get an error 146
if I clear again and NCD to http://fujinet-testing.irata.online/ I get an error 144 on a directory listing.
does it not work with http?
Is a listing of error codes online somewhere for n: device? Haven’t had luck finding but I do have DOS error codes.
I was also getting 208 errors even trying to get to ftp.pigwa.net and had to reboot to fix. Not sure how to consistently reproduce that yet though.
-
Guess I can just resave it. 🤦♂️

Yeah I was aware of the enter command and saw your EF video that covered text translation. Was just wondering if there were also tools to convert text to a BAS formatted file.
-
If you want your server to launch and run in the background on login, make a .plist file in ~/library/LaunchAgents
edit: oops I see this has already been mentioned…
-
-
Hey all,
I have been testing out the Fujinet N: device feature by following Thomas Cherryhomes' video here:
But so far I haven't had much luck yet getting my own server to work.
First I verified it is working by doing a LOAD "N:HTTP://FUJINET-TESTING.IRATA.ONLINE/BLACKJACK.BAS" and that works fine.
But when I do a LOAD "N:HTTP://SIDEBURN.COM/FUJINET/BLACKJACK.BAS" or a LOAD "N:HTTP://www.SIDEBURN.COM/FUJINET/BLACKJACK.BAS" it failed with an ERROR 21
I have a directory on my server here with some files in it: http://www.sideburn.com/fujinet/
Any idea what I don't have correct here?
-
yeah if i leave it on and make drive 1 empty on the SDrive Max then its fine.

* and sorry for posting off topic in here. I literally just now noticed this thread was specific to the Network Adapter after watching tschak909’d YouTube about it. I saw Fujinet and SIO and thought I was good 😆 🤦♂️

Ahh that makes sense.

As I said, the files inherit the permissions of the user that runs the server.
So set the file permissions using your favorite tool, chmod, the windows properties dialog, the MacOS file inspector...
-Thom
Ahhhh I see now. Ok. Yeah. Mines on a Mac. With a launch deamon that runs it in the background on login. Pretty sweet
I didn’t follow how the permissions were being set. Thought it was done through the server itself or something
-
Ahh, so on my local tnfs server there’s a way I can set certain files to always be read only regardless of the setting on the console ?

It's always awesome to see somebody raise the bar
And no, you don't have to mount write enabled. The FujiNet detects that the mounted disk is high score enabled, and it will automatically switch to write the high score table sectors, before switching back to read only, so that others can use the disk at the same time.
-Thom
Yeah I typed to soon I went back and read the first post and also it says to keep it read only on the server.
But that raises another question I have regarding remote files. Is it possible to write to them? Seems like that would open up the opportunity for people to accidentally corrupt other peoples files on their servers...
-
Whos MBR on donkey kong!? I almost got on the board (last place) and then he just bumped the worst score from 70,000 up to 80,000! LOL

I copied Edit13.com from the flop48 disk to a new one and made it outrun on boot. hitting CtrL-Q exits to dos where you can do a Dir at least and then go back.

yeah, that doesn't help much. Fujinet gets the first command frame and nothing else. do other sio devices work when sdrive is plugged in but turned off?
did you build the sdrive max yourself or buy it? At minimum you need the fix listed under "Fixing the SDrive-MAX SIO issue" from this page https://atari8bit.net/tutorials/de-re-sdrive-max/ and the diagram here looks like a better way to isolate all the pins
Yeah the 1050 drive can remain plugged connected and powered off without issue.
I bought it. It’s the Fujinet Pro from Lotharek. I put the latest firmware on it while I was setting up the debug a few hours ago… Didn’t help.
it’s a minor issue. Was just curious if it’s isolated to my setup prints known.

Can you capture the FujiNet serial debug output with your setup like this? It will show the boot process and may give a clue as to what's happeneing.

Nothing that looks very useful from the logs:
Here's what I got WITH the SDrive Mac plugged intact he SIO chain and powered down:... continuing from previous log output ...
[13:46:02] WiFiManager::start() complete
[13:46:02] WIFI_EVENT_STA_START
[13:46:10]
[13:46:10] CF: 31 53 00 00 84
... end of loggging fujinet frozen ...And here's what I get with the SDrive Max removed from the SIO chain:
... continuing from previous log output ...
[13:49:29] WiFiManager::start() complete
[13:49:29] WIFI_EVENT_STA_START
[13:49:33]
[13:49:33] CF: 00 31 53 00 00
[13:49:33] CHECKSUM_ERROR
[13:49:33]
[13:49:33] CF: 31 53 00 00 84
[13:49:33] FujiNet CONFIG boot
[13:49:33] disk sio_process(), baud: 19200
[13:49:33] ignoring status command
[13:49:33]

[13:49:33] FujiNet CONFIG boot
[13:49:33] disk sio_process(), baud: 19200
... more output follows ... -

Mines the Fujinet Pro with a single usb-c jack on the back. I wonder if that’s the same port for optional power and debugging / flashing.

Thanks! Yeah good idea, I can give that a try.

Agreed and LOL my original question was simply asking if anyone has seen the same Fujinet failure I am where it won’t boot if an SDrive Max is in the chain and powered off.
Instead of an answer I got a “why do you have an SDrive Max dummy?!” 😂 😜

You can set mount-and-boot in the web UI to bypass CONFIG:

still more hassle. Also I’m not sure if will work with cartridges like Mac/65 for coding and you need the floppy drive to load and save your work. Maybe it’s possible, I’m still a Fujinet N00b. I’ve got my own local server and got printing working and terminal programs going but that’s about it.
Anyway. Regardless. Seems like a bug that it’s unhappy having a device (in this case the sdrive max) in the SIO chain and powered off.

Unless you want to power on and boot straight into something (on any drive ID). In that case Fujinet lags in comparison.
The fact that you have to first boot into Fujinet, then navigate to destination disk image and move it to D1: slot and hold down option to boot it is a process.
Sdrive max can have 4 disk images on 4 drive IDs and boot straight into them on power up.
Also some things just don’t work on Fujinet (like Copymate XE) because they think there’s a cart still installed even when holding down option on boot.
They both have their own advantages in my opinion. But Fujinet is the winner if it were a contest.

Fujinet N: Device testing
in Atari 8-Bit Computers

Ah, I doubt it its my old server I used since back in the late 90's to host my website. Its through Netfirms hosting provider.
I have an NTSF server running locally though that is working from the Fujinet config page.
I also have an local Apache server that I can get to on the same machine at http://localhost but for some reason no other machines (including the same one the server is running on) on my same local IP can reach it at 127.0.0.1. The ONLY way I can reach the server is through http://localhost and that must be on the host machine. I am using MAMP pro on a MacBook Pro...
So since I can't reach the local server is why I went to my public Netfirms server in the first place.
