  1. Hello all, I just received my Ultrasatan and the Software for ULTRASATAN sd card from Lotharek's Lair and am having some issues. I'm a n00b with ST world so I don't know what I am doing quite yet. When I connect the Utrasatan to my Atari Stacy 2 and boot with an AHDI v4.02 floppy installed, all 6 drives do mount on the desktop but I MUST boot from the floppy. Is there a way to make this SD card auto boot without the need to the AHDI disk? this is the SD card I have--> https://lotharek.pl/productdetail.php?id=79 Also when the Utrasatan is just plugged into the Stacy (the Utrasatan doesn't need to be powered on even), then the internal hard drive disappears. Is it not possible to have both devices mounted? I have sent Lotharek an email regarding these issues as well but have not heard anything back so I thought someone here might already have the answers. I bought the Utrasatan thinking it would make getting software onto the Stacy a little less hassle than my current method of downloading disk images, converting them to .st format then using a Greaseweezle to copy the image files to a floppy using an Amiga floppy drive.. lots of steps... But if I can't get to the internal HD while having the Ultrasatan mounted then my current method might be the best route... Thanks, -Tavis
  2. WOW! Quite a score! Funny how its always the wife.. Thats how I got my Asteroids cocktail arcade machine for $300... the wife wanted it out of the house!!
  3. Wholy crap you have an Adventurevision! Wow how long have you had that for? nice Atari list too. I forgot to mention my Atari Portfolio got that a few months ago and had fun fixing it and writing some BASIC programs and doing some printing!
  4. Ah no the idea would be to buy them both.. fix them and sell them and make a little extra to offset the price i payed for mine. I paid $1200 for mine (+ tax and shipping) It does have the original power supply and its it full working order (I hope.. it will be here sunday), and then after I bought it I came across two NON WORKING ones a Stacy 1 and a Stacy 2 and two NOS LCD displays. So.. I could buy all that for about the same after shipping... probably around $1200... and then fix them (which could take many hours of my time) and sell them for $1,000 each I suppose.... and that would offset what I paid for mine.. But maybe its all too much hassle, but then again it will save them and get them in a new home... I dunno if its worth it or not.. and i feel like im being a little retro crazy spending all this money haha
  5. it's getting out of hand.. people keep giving me their old broken stuff and then i waste all my time fixing them. lol. i need more rooms... off the top of my head: • Atari 800XL NIB (but i use it, not sealed) • Atari 130XE NIB (but i use it, not sealed) • Atari 1050 in box • Atari 520ST - I've had this one since I was a kid a co-worker helped me mod it to boot up as a Macintosh also had a custom made IDE drive for it that's long lost.. When I get the STacy I willl get this out and asses its condition.. I cant remember how the rom and drive mods were done but i bet the rom mod is still intact. • Commodore SX64 • Commodore Amiga 1000 + Monitor (no keyboard yet) • Commodore Amiga 2000 Video Toaster + monitor & keyboard (all labels say Video Toaster so must be a turn key setup from NewTek) • Macintosh 512 w/ original Apple Tote bag • Macintosh Plus w/ original Apple Tote bag • Mac G4 Cube - thinking of selling this and maybe the Amiga 1000 to pay for my overpriced STacy lol! • Bunch old '90's Apple Powerbooks, and early 2000's G4's G3's etc.. Other vintage electronic stuff: Vectrex x2 + bunch of carts and rare tote bag Bunch o Nintendo Game and watches Bunch of Old handlhelds LED and VFD games (Mattel, Entex, Tomy etc) Bunch of consoles (NES, SNES, PS1, etc) Nelson game watches, Pulsar LED watches etc...
  6. I think they are good except for the displays but I have NOS displays... so sounds like a few hours work. I feel like i need to save them but i also feel like an idiot spending ANOTHER $1000.00 for two more after I just spend too much on a working one already! haha
  7. I found a Stacy 1 and a Stacy 2 that need repair. I can get them both for $1000 + tax and shipping. And then fix them and re sell them for maybe $1000 each? I’m on the fence wether it’s worth the effort.
  8. I agree. Was just thinking I could buy them and repair them and sell them and then cover the amount I overpaid for mine 😂 but if I calculate my time doing the work I’ll probably end up more in the hole! 🤦‍♂️
  9. St book? Probly $3 to $4k I bet. I have access to a couple broken Stacy’s for a good price. Could repair and restore. I need to seek help this addiction is getting bad.
  10. Yeah I was thinking the same about US / NTSC being hard to find. Oh yeah the floppy protector. Yeah that’s a nice to have. Now I need the box and manuals!
  11. Thanks. I’m hope so too! I just payed for it yesterday. It’s on the way
  12. I bargained with him for days on eBay. He was asking $1600 for it. I finally pulled the trigger at $1,200 plus $30 shipping. says everything is working and had a bunch of music stuff on it. here the post https://www.ebay.com/itm/364096863804?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=bWmIrX5GR06&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=vQ425jH5TBq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY and pics:
  13. How much does everyone think a STacy 2 in excellent working condition. Nice display and backlight. Boots off hard drive and loaded with software worth in 2023. I want to make sure I didn’t pay to much 😂
  14. Man this is a challenge.. Its completely intermittent.. I have swapped the drive mechanism with a donor 1050 and swapped out all of the socketed chips and power supply a/c adapter. Some days it works for an hour and quits and the times it just refuses to work at all. I have noticed when sometimes when it's in the failing state, when I power up the stepper moves the head forward only. it doesn't return to track zero. Finally it will start returning to track zero again on power up and then its a 50/50 change the drive will read properly as well. Other than it not reading disks and that startup failure, everything else seems to be working properly. trying to figure out what component could possible be the issue... Freeze spray does not help render any clues...
  15. Well I cracked’er open and then just realized / remembered I already did a full cap kit to it back in march this year. So the caps are not the issue. I also remember freeze spraying the chips. Anyway I just re-seated all the chips and it’s sitting here now on the bench apart and connected and doing boot errors. I’ll let it warm up and see if it comes back to life and then try the freeze spray again. otherwise I guess I’m going to have to go through the service manual and check some signals on the O’scope…
  16. thanks, yes i tried freeze spray a while back and couldn't get it to fail.. I am going to crack it back open now and give it a more thorough inspection.
  17. Hey all, I have a 1050 drive that either works flawlessly or fails to read. When it is in the working properly state, all tests pass using the 1050 Disk Diagnostic disk. When it suddenly fails it fails motor, speed, step, settle, and track sensor tests.. the MPU STATUS Controller Tests all pass and then all of the rest of the tests fail. When the drive is in the "non working" state, everything seems normal on power up.. Drive light turns on.. motor spins up, the track seek / stepper motor does its normal thing.. but when i put a disk in and power up, the drive spins up and it tries to read but just beeps slowly every few seconds trying to read the disk. When in this failing state and I run the 1050 Disk Diagnostic disk and select troubleshooting and select the motor speed test, the motor spins up but the speed reading value is 0ms. When the drive is in a working properly state, the speed test shows good at 208.6 The power supply voltage looks good at 12v a/c. Also it seems to not work at all when the drive is cold and when it warms up it starts working... for a while... So it's seeming like I have a faulty chip. But which one? Bad RAM? If anyone has any ideas or areas to check, please let me know. I have an O'scope, DMM, etc for troubleshooting. Thanks in advance for the help.
  18. I got it working. Bad mistakes on my part. Bad ink. Bad battery issues. so LPRINT “hello world”; LPRINT chr$(12) worked chr$(12) issues the form feed. printer beeps and errors after feed finishes. Need to sort that out still but overall working.
  19. I tried this too. No luck. Holding power down makes the printer beep continuously and never stops until you let go. Running this program, the printer did nothing. But I think there’s a bug in the program. I tried just sending data to the printer as well after holding power down for 7 beeps but so far no results.
