1. Thats an interesting strategy. 868784 Well, it's not good for very long, only early in the game. Anyway, I give up at 250,000. Been intense!
2. Grrr, gettin' frustrating, I had several games close to my high, but couldn't QUITE beat it Oh well, another tip: *The robots change colors, indicating their point value; the order is purple, orange, green, and then yellow. Early on in the game, as long as you don't put yourself in too much danger, chase after the robots and gun them down as soon as possible for maximum points; hitting anything over the color purple is going to score more than the purple base amount (1000).
3. When do you get extra lives anyway? 865650 When you get to the point where 4 guys come out at once, you get an extra life when you kill all 4. The guy you kill for the extra life is light green/yellowish, brighter than the normal green guy. 865654 Thanks, got to increase my score a ton! Damn, almost 200,000 though! Oh well, I'm only just now beginning! Another tip: watch the robots' colors; when they're green, they're about to turn yellow, and your chance to get an extra guy. But BE CAREFUL! If you're too greedy, you could end up losing a life or two if you go too fast.
4. Davepesc, who's the babe in your avatar? Dang, I was bummed once I found out only the damn robots were worth the points Oh well, live and learn, didn't waste too many games trying to shoot anything that moves. Tips: *Stay away from the portals where new creatures will come out as much as possible, as new robots can emerge and shoot you before you have a chance to react. *DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING. Touching things can result in being frozen for a few seconds, having several bullets taken away from you, or death.
5. Weird, I took this shot several nights ago, but never submitted it...only had time to play a couple of games...oh well. Tip: once things start getting hairy, always try to get off two shots as quick as you can, one being at an angle, the other one straight...that way, the line of enemies will try to dodge one brick, but then will usually end up getting hit by the other.
6. Maybe they went overseas, as my Australian buddy said they're real popular over there for some reason (his MAME machine is a cocktail too ).
7. For several people who said the same thing about Renovation, I guess Dino Land slipped beneath your radars Worst pinball game EVER for the Genesis, all the others that came out for that system later blew it away. Wow, I'm surprised someone mentioned Subterrania, I've seen that for sale or trade a few times on here, I thought I was the only one who liked that one (Guess it's due to old school gaming, reminding me of Gravitar.) When you beat it, they gave a hint at a sequel, but that never came out, of course. Yeah, they did exact translations (including bugs!) of Defender, Stargate, Robotron, and Sinistar as well. Oh, and I can't BELIEVE two people on here found Gunstar Heroes for less than ten bucks!! Damn...nice...lucky!
8. He doesn't have Stella though. Neither do I. Hey, that looks pretty sweet! To Steve: Meteoroids was the original version of Suicide Mission. EDIT: whups, Nukey posted it right before I did
9. He probably hasn't played Meteroids, though, and so he doesn't have any way to compare them. And I heard lots of praise in the gaming media back in the day that Suicide Mission was a better version of Asteroids at roughly half the price. Anyway, I love my Supercharger, especially, as was already said, with Escape from the Mindmaster. Brilliant, brilliant, great game.
10. Funny how several people are talking like Yoda are Only beat my score by a smidgeon--actually, I've barely had any time to devote to this one--and a very rare shuttle came out during the Death Star wave...'course I wasn't able to nail it; too bad, it would've really helped the ol' score.
11. Wow! Your first "real score" beats all of ours! Nice job! 849753 I dunno, did he play the right game? He repeated every single tip that was already up as it was.
12. *Or from the top/bottom, if you can: if he flies by on top, shoot at him from the bottom, or vice versa (another tip). One thing that REALLY sucks is waiting for a shot, then some damn T. I. E. Interceptor will shoot you, which he'll disappear even when your next M. Falcon appears before he would get to the edge of the screen; I've had this happen TWICE in one game before! Anyway, my score; kind of hard to read, due to the snow, which it's 26,389. Probably just going to be sticking to the emulator for this one, as I won't be able to get a new switchbox for a couple of weeks, but oh well.
13. Hey ze_ro, if you saw my score from earlier, don't bother putting it up: once I fired the ol' 7800 up, I was WONDERING why the Death Star was being constructed so fast...turns out I got the Diff. A part right, but was still playing game 1 (That photo's since been deleted.) Will submit a new (much LOWER!), correct score later...couple more tips though: *Remember there are three places you can shoot a hole through the Death Star to reach the core: through the center, at left shooting a diagional right, and at the right and shooting at a diagional left. Keep on using the wrap-around to alternate between the diagional shots until you're able to hit the core. *You might want to count how many T. I. E. Interceptors you've shot in order to be allowed access to the Death Star screen; the number might be higher than you think! (It's seven.)
14. *Try just tapping the joystick (or directional pad) in a diagional. (One of my tips; here's another one) *When the difficulty level rises to the point where the holes don't constantly appear in the shield grid, and they only occasionally pop up, even if the outermost shield band is activated when a hole is about to close up, you can still make the hole in the shield if you time it right by aiming for the hole just as the outermost shield band starts to fade, which you won't die by hitting that band and you'll make it before the hole closes up. Another game that bites by using the keyboard, although I'll be whipping out the 7800 tonight for this one, although it's going to be kind of snowy (guess I need to finally replace the switchbox, I've been using it since 1988! )
15. Wings wasn't released; I can't recall if it either wasn't finished, as it was just a playable demo, or it was finished and it just sucked. T. Runner is one of my all-time favorite games, those damn Zot monsters can give you a heart attack a lot of the time!
16. Yeah, those involved in the gaming industry said that an FPS could NOT be done for the Genesis, but it was...but that's why it runs fairly slow, no running in this game like in Doom.
17. Maybe these shots will help jog your memory Hmmm, what's behind the door? With the slime, you'd think it's a job for the Ghostbusters, but it's not... Here's the great crabs that I love shooting down from the ceiling! These guys are like Ringwraiths where they can't see very well; when you start running out of ammo, you can literally punch them to death if you have to. The last section of the game starts getting VERY creepy, looking like you're in hell.
18. Yeah it's really strange how things just suddenly "clicked". I think it was just mainly due to trying NOT to freakin' rush, on all my other games I kept on getting up too early on the ball screens and hitting a ball and all...guess I found my yin/yang here, or whatever Yeah a friend of mine brought that up a while back, in regards to going back and playing favorites that seemed hard back in the day (or hardER, at least), like Space Invaders, which you can kill your score for some reason (granted, I knew the 300 point u. f. o. secret from back then, so my score was always pretty good anyway). But then we're a lot older now and have played far more complicated games than that, I guess (plus we were little kids back then). Yeah, but there's always other games And plus with S. Invaders that I mentioned earlier, there's always the harder versions of it, like Galaga, or even the John Dondzila Vectrex homebrews, since he usually makes his games hard in general anyway, so even his S. Invader games are still fun to play.
19. Wow, absolutely freakin' clobbered my last score Strange, I kept on choking at around 30,000, then got past that, then 50,000...started too late to max out the score, but then I had NO IDEA I would've made it anywhere past that! And since I feel kinda blah and my eyes are gettin' crossed as it is, I figured this would be an ok time to quit. Oh well, at least I know I can do it!
20. Weird, I've had this score for several days now, but never put it up...haven't had much time to devote to this game, I guess...
21. Yeah, I know. The last place I got to back when I was actively trying to get through it was real deep in the building. There were only the strongest type of aliens and they were everywhere. Add to this the fact that I had almost no ammo and there isn't any to be picked up anywhere and it is clear why I gave up without finishing. 841138 It's not that there's any ammo, you just have to go back to using the pistol, starting with the first level in the last building (ah! It's starting to come back to me now! ) where there's humans everywhere, and they use the regular guns/ammo. So you shoot them and collect their ammo as you go. Granted, there was no way for you to know that ahead of time, and that's what sucks. (Speaking of "sucks", so does the ending, so you didn't miss a whole lot anyway. Well, except for the very last level being REAL creepy...)
22. Naaaah, the best weapon is either the pistol or the shotgun in that situation, since it's GREAT to see those crab-things fall one by one from the ceiling; I love those guys! I feel like Sean Penn at the end of T. A. P. S. yelling "it's beautiful, man, it's beautiful!" Someone was asking earlier about you being in a space station...let's see, I think it starts off in the space station, moves to your company's building, then several more levels in the basement before you get to the end. It was a good game, but by the time you get to some point in the building, you have to start stocking up on bullets for your pistol, since you run out of ammo for EVERYTHING. There's no warning this is going to happen, which is a crappy way to make a game, if you ask me.
23. A few tips: *On the first several levels, before the red ball starts bouncing high, you can run non-stop and jump over it without hitting it or losing any time. *You usually shouldn't bother with the elevator unless it's only a wait of a few seconds, plus you usually shouldn't take it to the top level unless the crook has either already passed by or is very close. *The instant your bonus points are tallied and a new level starts, MOVE. The crook's already on the move and there's never an obstacle on the first screen with you.
