  1. I think that was done on a Q*Bert knock-off called Pogo Joe for the Commodore 64, or maybe there were a couple of discs on a level where if you landed on one, it'd teleport you to the other disc on the other side. I don't recall now...not that I even played it anyway, I just read a review of it, and it sounded like it was pretty good.
  2. (sigh) Just THE first movie to have CGI effects ever. Granted, it's nowhere near the fake-looking stuff of today, most of the effects looked kind of like everything had neon highlights around them. But it was still pretty cool. The movie was also reportedly denied an Academy Award nomination for Best Special Effects, due to the Academy considering that using computers for effects was "cheating". Nowadays, try finding a movie nominated for Best Effects that didn't use CGI
  3. Especially since Parker Brothers never made a single 7800 game, ever (Surprised no one said anything about that yet.) Yeah, I was confused and wondering exactly what the deal was. That's cool, hopefully it won't take three years to finish or anything!
  4. It seems to randomly appear somewhere between 90K and up...guess that's what makes it a "magic" fish I got mine! Hey, almost a Pitfall score!
  5. Thanks, I had gotten it a couple of times myself since I got the game, but forgot about looking it up on the instructions here (since I don't have them) to see what the hell it did This game's really polarizing to me, like Robotron, where I'll be doing pretty decently, then have a bunch of stupid deaths in a row. Walloped my first post score Another tip: timing a jump behind an enemy (like geese) will buy you some time, as the enemy won't turn around, so it will give you time to figure out what your next move (or two) will be and how to plan them out.
  6. Another tip: during the early, slower levels, look before you leap!! Keep a good eye on what's moving in what rows and plan your jumps accordingly, especially when you have to choose whether to hop on a floe with geese in the row (which never stop moving) or a row that has a creature that pauses every couple of seconds. BTW, does that magic fish do anything?
  7. This was one of THE first games I ever got when I got back into Atari a few years ago A tip: when you're at the bottom two rows of igloo blocks and all of the above igloo blocks have been hopped on, try to get the bottom two rows to change before making your way back up, as it's not a good thing to have to hop all the way back down to the bottom just to change the color of one or two rows. I'll get a score up later.
  8. Might be kind of hard to find, but a great combo of a puzzle, shooter and platformer is Fatal Rewind for the Genesis.
  9. Oops, never mind: when I was looking around for anything earlier actually tying Will to this, I forgot that the link wasn't loading (duh, shoulda double-checked before posting, dammit )
  10. Especially since how do we even know this is THE Wil Wheaton? (I mean, besides who would be stupid enough to put his name down in order to endure the Wesley Crusher bashing ) It's the internet, it could be anybody. That aside, I'll agree that the reviews have been amusing, although it sounds like he barely played M. Magic at all, due to the long, overdone intro (hmmm, nobody brought ME any food as I was getting a million on Tron back in the day), then he barely mentioned the game at all.
  11. Jump Bug WAS an arcade game (made by Rock-Ola). Or was it just an original game with the same name? Wow! Bit of an obscure, different game there, hadn't ever seen anyone mention that game anywhere ever, I don't think
  12. Thanks, but that's not necessary. I might have something else for you eventually though (I'll let you know when I can get my hands on it). Glad someone on here could help!
  13. Oh, it's no big deal, it'll only take a few minutes. I just like to help when I can Until then, anyone else?
  14. Nope, I won't have access to a scanner until next week, which is why I had asked...but if no one else can scan them in until then I'll give it a shot.
  15. Is a shot from a digital camera ok instead? Unless someone beats me to it, I'll be back with my StarMaster one later...took one earlier, but accidentally cut off the Activision logo But I have to finish up with something else first.
  16. I'm not sure patterns are a possiblity here, although there has been one situation that occurs to me fairly often on the first maze, but it doesn't help me for very long. Dunno... Well, I broke 40...that fourth maze is pretty interesting, the corridors run long vertically...and I was a couple of centimeters away from an energizer when the red bastard got me, damn him (I would've killed him if he wasn't already dead...you know, being a ghost and all )
  17. Hmm, interesting thought, you're probably right. ALMOST got to the fourth (*#ing maze...damn! Stan, love the pics, they remind me of a photographer U2 had, where he'd smack his camera as he took pictures of them live, and he got a similar, cool blurred effect
  18. It's 16K, and has some kind of "super chip" to run it. Barely beat my high score after HOURS of playing tonight; think I've had enough of this one. Couple last tips: *The light orange/tan-colored ghost usually doesn't actively chase you. So keep that in mind as you chose your next course of action as you go throughout the maze. *Try to get the energizers that are in the center of a maze first, they're the hardest; the easiest ones to get are in the corners.
  19. One of those weird games where game after game after game I either wouldn't make it past the first screen (not counting ones I kept on starting over), then I made it past the first two, then nearly the third screen as well! My wrist hurts, time to quit...
  20. I think what skill level is meant is the one where the first prize is a drum...I think it's a typo saying "toy candy", I think it was meant to be "toy drum". But yeah, lets wait and see... And until then, guess we'll see each other for Ms. Pac-Man in a couple of weeks, eh? I guess if the Garfield game was ever released, the "yip yip yip" sound of eating the dots would have been Odie's bark Kind of annoying, but better than the bonkbonkbonk of the original Pac-Man. For whatever variation we're playing, some tips: *Try to get the dots around the ghost pen as soon as possible, due to the prize not being able to transform them into the super dots, you'll move faster in the area once it's cleared, and it's a dangerous area in general anyway. *Learn the layout of the mazes! There's nothing worse than being stuck in a corridor where the only way out is to eat an energizer when you don't absolutely have to. *Since the ghosts don't stay blue for very long, the energizers should be used (when possible) to try to find the prize and eat it as soon as possible. Score to be posted once we get verification on the game
  21. Heh, ever play any of their updated classics for the Genesis? "Ultimate" Qix (note the sarcastic quotes) added a brief cinematic intro, power-ups, a picture when you began filling in the screen (granted, that's been done on various Qix ports anyway), and the ability for the Qix to shrink itself real small and escape from traps, but it was ridiculous that a two player option wasn't available (since I doubt the game took up any more than two or three megs). The same went for Space Invaders '91: even with updated, colorful graphics, power-ups, music, a brief cinematic ending if you beat it, several different backgrounds and all, etc., no two player option (whether it be two players taking turns or both being onscreen at once) was unforgivable, especially since I doubt that game even took up one meg. Both games are still amusing for a while though, and definitely worth it...for a dollar loose, maybe. I don't think they're worth more than $5 apiece, if even that much.
