Bravo! You will not be disappointed. The A500 is a cool machine, but my heart will always be 8-bits wide...

Bad news... we hooked the Falcon up and got no picture on the screen. He's having someone look at it now. If anyone might still be interested, please watch for updates and PM me accordingly. I'm sorry this is not going the way we had all planned. Thanks!

I used to have a flat 128 that had the 64K upgrade done by the previous owner. I found it handy in a few of the functions in the Servant 128 chip, too (I can't remember which, though).

Sorry about that... the album defaulted to private. It's now public and should be open to everyone. If it's not, please let me know.

OK, here are some pics of the system NOT hooked up (we'll be doing that on Sunday, so we can get photos of it running). https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1057260260951282&set=a.1057260240951284.1073741831.100000019541825&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1057260277617947&set=a.1057260240951284.1073741831.100000019541825&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1057260270951281&set=a.1057260240951284.1073741831.100000019541825&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1057260347617940&set=a.1057260240951284.1073741831.100000019541825&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1057260350951273&set=a.1057260240951284.1073741831.100000019541825&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1057260370951271&set=a.1057260240951284.1073741831.100000019541825&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1057260434284598&set=a.1057260240951284.1073741831.100000019541825&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1057260427617932&set=a.1057260240951284.1073741831.100000019541825&type=3&theater More pics this weekend...

Greetings, all... Just a quick update; we will try to have photos next weekend. My friend acquired this Falcon in a trade and knows nothing about it. He (apparently) needs my help in hooking it up, and he's a 2.5 hour drive from me, so it is less than convenient for either of us. I appreciate your patience and will post pics as soon as I have some (again, hopefully next weekend). Many thanks!

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing this!

Wonderful! I have been planning on grabbing another console or two as backups and wanted to make sure I knew what to look for. This has been very helpful. Thank you all!

Hello, all... I have only come into TI hardware in the last couple of years (though I always liked them) and only have black & silver consoles, myself. I have this question... Are all beige consoles the cost reduced revision? If not, how do we tell them apart? I've also heard that the cost reduced models have less circuitry and run cooler. Is this true? Thanks in advance!

A little retro PC humor (at the expense of Windoze). :)

Nice! But you forgot... "In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?" -
Those are all nice systems! I have a couple of black & silver consoles that look like they've been rolled down a hill and hit by a truck, but they still work (my son ran off with my only decent-looking one)! I also have a Panasonic microcassette recorder and a 32" Trinitron that pair up to them nicely...

OK... I have asked my friend to provide pics (inside, outside, on and off) and specs. He's hoping to have that stuff ready perhaps this weekend. I seem to remember hearing that it was a CT60 machine @ 66MHz(?), but I don't remember how much RAM, size of the HDD, or if any other tweaks that have been done to it. It has a MegaSTE/TT030 keyboard. I'll post more as soon as I get it.

He's not into it. He acquired it for his "Computer Museum" that he will be setting up in his house, so he'd rather have one that looks stock, as opposed to this one, which looks like a PC.

I just posted this in the ST/Falcon forum, then realized it might go better here... A friend of mine has come into a Falcon system in a tower case with the some sort of 68060 upgrade board (one that wouldn't fit into the original Falcon case, if I understand it correctly). He's actually hoping that there is someone out there with a working, mostly stock NTSC Falcon who would be willing to trade straight across for it. Upgraded RAM, HDD and the "audio fix" are OK, but he wants the case to be stock (no holes drilled in it from upgrades), the keyboard to be original and everything in good working order/good cosmetic shape. I am not completely sure of the specs. on this thing, but I know it's pretty beefy and I can get them if necessary. We are located in central California (USA) and would prefer someone within driving distance (this thing is bulky and heavy), but shipping arrangements can be made if need be. PM me if interested.

Indeed. I wish nothing but the best to him and to his family. Get well, fellow Atarian. -

These were taken with my old phone, about three years ago. Please pardon the terrible image quality: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1042853982391910&set=a.554318737912106.134555.100000019541825&type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1042853972391911&set=a.554318737912106.134555.100000019541825&type=3&theater I took it all apart, removed the black, rubber feet, peeled the label off of the bottom, taped off the badge on the top (because they are a pain to get off without ruining them), scrubbed it clean (inside & out), then used a spray-on red paint that was designed to stick to plastic patio furniture without using primer. I then reapplied the label and put four new silicone feet on the bottom while the paint was still tacky, so those aren't coming off anytime soon. It was a lot of fun to do and really took care of the horrible, yellowing problem. It's been 3+ years and it's scratched up from use. Should I apply a new coat, or try a different color? What do all of you think?

The color scheme (per Commodore) for the VIC-20 was: "Ivory" (the case), "Chocolate" (the keyboard) and "Mustard" for the function keys (my family and I have always referred the the function keys as "Peanut Butter", because we feel it's more accurate/fun). The case coloring was consistent throughout the VIC-20's production, but the ever-dreaded sunburn/yellowing-with-age has given us many different shades of yuck over the last 30+ years. IIRC, the first year of production had the PET style keys, the last year of production used a C=64 keyboard (with gray function keys) and the two years in-between had a C=64 style keyboard with yellow function keys. My painted my VIC-20 bright red and put a white keyboard from a 64C into it. Snazzy!

Commode Doors? Hahaha! I had never heard that one until now! When I was a C= guy, the Apple ][ people in my area called us "Commie Dorks". Not trying to start a flame war, just sayin'...

I had a girlfriend with a couple of eating disorders and I wasn't able to help her (we're not together anymore and she's still around, but still has the disorders AFAIK). I can sympathize to a small degree, in watching someone that you love succumb to a terrible illness like that. I wish only the best for all of you and please, by all means, keep us posted as to her progress, if you are able. And yes, maybe we can hook her up with an XEGS, later... she's an Atarian already, she just doesn't know it, yet.

Goodness... I hadn't heard until now, but I'm very glad that she is on the mend. You must be doing better with her release, yourself. Thank you for sharing.
