  2. Brad is usually easiest to reach via e-mail. All you need to do is ask him to get you a price plus shipping to your zip code and you usually get a response in less than 24 hours.
  3. I don't mean to pry, but I just bought a new 800 keyboard from Best Electronics and Brad told me that he's 3/4 of the way through his last box, so if you need a NOS, now is the time. Just an FYI to all.
  4. I am also looking for an Atari compatible printer, but I want something pin-fed, for fan fold paper. Is the XMM-801 my only option without going third party?
  5. I had a first generation 64C back in the 80's and the down direction went out on joystick port #2. It turns out that one of my 6526's was bad, so I bought one from my local C= dealer and popped open the 64C to find out that ONE of the chips was socketed and the other was not. Take a wild guess which one had gone bad...
  6. Yes, I have had repairs done by Ray Carlsen on a few of my VIC-20's and he is not only a great, respectable guy, but a true Commodore genius! I recommend him very highly!
  7. My son kidnapped my TI-99/4a, but it's all good... he loves Parsec with the Speech Synthesizer! Yeah, he just plays games on it, but I love looking into his room and seeing his gaming PC, his XBOX 360 and the TI side by side.
  8. Exactly! I have personally experienced that twice, both times with the same seller! I got a message via ebay that the winning bidder changed his mind and that I could have the item for whatever my last bid was. I turned him down both times, figuring that it was probably a buddy of his or even the seller himself logging in with a different account and running the price up.
  9. If you're going to do the ebay thing, just be careful and don't get into a bidding war. There are man possibilities with ebay, but the two most common are: You get a heck of deal on something really awesome --or-- Idiots will fight over junk I have been both of those at one point or another...
  10. Indeed. Please give him kind regards from all of us on AtariAge when you speak to him next, if you would.
  11. I've always thought that 8-bit analogue machines look best on a CRT, and being that it's a Trinitron, I thought I'd give it a go. That and I'd love to play Fort Apocalypse on a 32" screen... heh heh... If it doesn't pan out, I always have my trusty old C=1701 to fall back on.
  12. Necro-bump/Update: the company recycled one of the big CRT Trinitrons and the other is now in the back of my vehicle! Now I have to figure out where I'm going to put it...
  13. I also love both and refuse to live without either of them, but I picked Trek, because it's more of what I'm into, now. I loved Star Wars way more growing up, but as an adult, I'm more into Star Trek... for now!
  14. Really? I bought two from him last year and both were fully socketed. Was I really that lucky?
  15. Maybe it has to do with which version of the game you're playing... I know that on the original Apple ][ version that I used to have, running up to her would end in an embrace and approaching her in fighting stance would get you killed by a single kick. I did it many times, just to show people and to get a laugh. I've also played it on the C=64, the A8, the ST and the 7800, but I always ran up to her and can't say whether she'll kick the snot out of you in these versions. Since the Apple ][ version was the original and these were all ports, her kicking you to death might only be in the Apple version, but I have no idea. Can anyone confirm?
  16. Is there a utility, possibly for Windows or Mac OSX that would let us convert SID tunes to POKEY? They're always updating the High Voltage SID Collection. I'd totally leave a machine going all weekend to get them all converted over.
  17. I like: Drol (Can you tell?) Conan: Hall of Volta Karateka Prince of Persia Rescue Raiders Warp Factor Airheart Zork series Space Quest series King's Quest series Ultima series I could keep going for a long time, but nobody wants that...
  18. Nice! I knew the engine was done years ago (thank you, Farb!), so I am hoping that converting the adventures themselves won't be as painful as I imagine it to be.
  19. Nice! Thanks for the pointers, folks! Does anyone know offhand which version of BASIC EAMON was originally done in? Applesoft? Integer? I'm wondering if knowing that would help us to find the version of BASIC on the A8 most suitable.
  20. And yes, BASIC looked nightmarish!
  21. I was thinking BASIC, because AFAIK, the Apple ][ files were done in BASIC, so I figured there might be minimal loss and minimal tweaking needed to get it done. Like I said, I have no programming knowledge at all and am just looking for a place to start. Thanks!
  22. J.J.'s Jumpers and... wait, is that guy taking a leak?!
  23. Hello, all... While there are hundreds of EAMON adventures for the Apple ][, I've noticed that there have only been one or two converted for use on the A8 and was wondering how difficult it'd be convert the rest of them over. Let me add that I have no programming knowledge whatsoever and don't have any clue how these games are structured and was wondering if, perhaps, they were simply ASCII text with a BASIC interpreter (like Zork). Is there anyone out there who might have an idea where/how I could get started (apart from learning Atari BASIC, which I already plan to do)? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
