  1. BUMP. Busy year, I only now loaded up Mode4 V1.4 and fooled around with it. I like the screenshot ability and copy/paste functions quite a bit. I created a simple golf charset over the past 2 hours and mocked up an unattractive 5200 golf course! Thanks again for this great tool!
  2. Dreadnaught Factor must have analog controls, right? Playing on Altirra , it is very floaty moving left and right, hard to stay lined up.
  3. 404 file not found. What gives, moycon?
  4. I didn't own either. I was in college 86-90 and I worked too. I still had a 5200 and 1200XL but rarely played them during those years. I was much more obsessed with learning and playing guitar. A couple times I saw friends playing the NES and it was much improved over early 80s consoles, but nothing interested me then. I remember looking at the 7800 at Kmart in disbelief. Asteroids again!? But the Atari fan in me still was somewhat interested. I got my 7800 in the late 2000 decade and I've had a lot of fun with it and the amazing Homebrews which gave it real life and purpose, starting with Bob's super fun Pac-Man Collection. But my first impression was not good because my first games, DK and DK Jr, had terrible sound and music! I never owned an NES console. But have played it's games in emulation.
  5. On the first 2 difficulty settings, there is only 1 dreadnaught to destroy. Maybe next time we should bump up to a higher one. There is an explanation in the instructions: https://atariage.com/manual_html_page.php?SoftwareID=2063
  6. Played another round or two. The tanks wiped me out before I figured out how best to pass them. 29,250.
  7. I just watched it. I was surprised at all the things that were in my youth too, Common thing among people of a similar age. I had forgotten, but I had the Six Million Dollar man figures, including Maskatron! And my cousin and I owned a couple of the huge Shogun Warriors which had shooting fists and projectiles too! Those are long gone I'm afraid. The 5200 focus was cool but very familiar territory for me. Interesting to hear a CV head talk about 5200 Berzerk on his Mister.
  8. I see the bowling pins over user avatar picture too. They appear to be a measure of how many posts, or years, we've been here?
  9. Honestly, isn't that true of Pitfall and Pitfall 2 and really any 2600 adventure game as well? Yet we replay those now and then.
  10. Excellent playing NorthCoastgamer! The first adventure really doesn’t seem that huge once you know what to do. I got much better understanding the timing of the bats and condors and learning how to get the diamond ring which is the one sort of hidden prize. I think 199,000 is the perfect score, I got really close to that a couple times. This is the farthest I’ve ever gotten on the second adventure. I feel I understand it a lot more now, even though I don’t yet have the skills to complete it. The bugs must be jumped very quickly as they approach you, and even the frogs are difficult for me to jump over at times, I often graze a pixel of them because I’m too close when I jump. The crazy bats are fear inspiring but I’ve gotten a lot better at jumping over them at the right time.
  11. Yep. The bug got me. I learned to closely follow the condors, skipping over the ledges/steps. Then I finally got to the rope screen and that bug got me. I quit for the night.
  12. Oh, I didn't realize the blue door would appear on any screen where you grabbed the final item. That looks like where the diamond ring is hidden, but I've never grabbed it last.
  13. Got a 205,240 on level 2. I played beyond that but could not beat a number of timing challenges. Getting to the rope looks really rough. Get a checkpoint, then jump the fast bug, jump 2 frogs , head back to the left avoiding first a crazy bat and a series of stepping stone jumps all the while avoiding rising/sinking condors. yeesh. Will try again after my frayed nerves settle down.
  14. 153,596. I had a fun time even getting this far. Evidently I missed something (I saw a diamond ring but couldn't get it, and wasn't going to backtrack at that point). I did get Rhonda, Quickclaw, and (to my surprise that its a pick-up with points), the rat. It has been so many years that I've played this, that I had forgotten where the balloon appears, and spent half an hour trying to figure out how to make progress.
  15. I don't remember posting the above, but coincidentally I've finally had time to play some obscure Saturn games lately, and I once again have gravitated to some sports games. I played VR Golf all weekend. It is a little like playing an interactive pastel painting, the way the graphics were done. I do like the look and the feel, although it is a bit slow paced when playing a tournament. If I understand correctly, you have to play long enough on amateur mode to get your handicap fro -24 to 0, then you can play the pro tournament. I'm still at -6 handicap after several amateur tournaments, and it's not like I'm terrible at the game. This is a bit too long to force me to wait just to try the pro tournament, especially since there are only 2 18-hole courses. Also I'm not sure the ball path is always accurate to where it is set to go. I've adjusted the putting path so it visually appears more correct, and then regretted it. This is a game where I often want to watch a shot replay at different camera settings, a well done feature. I played this long enough to realize its inaccuracies compared to other golf games, for example you can use a pitching wedge nearly full swing from the rough to the nearby green, and the ball will barely pop onto the green, covering little distance. Last night I loaded Pebble Beach, which I admittedly have never stuck with for long. Well, it is faster paced than VRG, much more modern looking visually too. I miss the tracking ball cams from VR however. I was having trouble judging each club's distance. Unlike VR, the smallest swing of a pitching wedge will cause the ball to fly over and past the green, if you are not careful. The way Craig Stadler pops up to comment on things is both strange and pleasingly hilarious. He nearly got a hole in one on his drive, popped up to say "do you think you can get it inside mine?" LOL You have the option of having a rotoscoped caddy, but this replaces the helpful right-side course map! No thanks. I also played several rounds of World Wide Soccer 97, which I found very fun once I got some skills.
  16. Oops, I replied in the unpopular thread. Repeating: A surprising amount of good fun games there, especially compared to some of the prior show selections fro 82/83. I like most: Enduro, Jungle Hunt, Q*Bert, Robot Tank, Keystone Kapers. And MASH just for the nostalgia, ferret face!

  18. 3,405. First time I've ever played this. Need to read the instructions.
