That's a fair point. However, even if the programmer acknowledged his score, if he had to use a glitch to get it, it ought not to count IMO. It's like those speedruns of Super Mario 64 that use glitches to get around the locked doors. It's a neat trick, but I don't think it should count as an "official" world record speedrun.

Sounds to me like he exploited a glitch the programmer didn't know about (based on the fact that the programmer honestly thought it couldn't be done). That would be cheating. I won't comment on whether or not that invalidates ALL of his scores, but if I'm right, it makes him suspect at best. As far as I'm concerned, the word "impossible" on the award is an admission of guilt.

Come on, people! There's gotta be one person interested in programming this! -
GoSub DS: The Beginning

Very cool! I'm always interested in trying homebrew games on my R4 card. Keep us posted and let us know if you ever finish. -
Question: If I don't have a real Vectrex (I'd like to get one but haven't been able to afford it as yet), but I play some games on ParaJVE and take screen shots of my scores, does that count?

What do ya know, a review of ET that's actually funny (as opposed to all the so called "gamers" on youtube who only bash "bad games" because everyone else is doing it and they want to try and be cool but more often than not don't know what they're talking about).

Breaking news: Intellivision flashback coming to retail
oldskoolgaymer replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I'll wait for the plug and play to come out and then look at the reviews on youtube. I would've been interested in the Sega Genesis one, but I saw in the review that half the built in games were newly made homebrews, and poorly done ones at that. It just reeked of cheapness. As far as this one goes, if there's no cart slot, but it has most if not all of the original INTV games (minus the third-party ones of course), I might consider getting it for convenience's sake (although I'd still want to start collecting the originals when I was able to). -
Best (cheapest/funnest) intellivision games?
oldskoolgaymer replied to someone3760's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Nobody mentioned Sub Hunt yet. I like that one (except when a destroyer gets right up on you and you can't hit it cause it's too close. grrr...). -
You have $300 what do you buy?
oldskoolgaymer replied to Hyperboy's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'd have trouble deciding. On the one hand, I've been wanting a PC Engine Duo for quite some time. On the other hand, the Vectrex looks cool too. Gamewise, there's Magical Chase. Or, instead of blowing it all on one game, I could get several like Ninja Gaiden (the PCE version), Batman (PCE), Earthbound (SNES), Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64).... In short, I have no idea. -
Some Moron Pretending to Have a Creepshow 2600 Prototype
oldskoolgaymer replied to Stan's topic in Atari 2600
I would, now that you've mentioned it, but the game has apparently vanished. A quick google search came up with a link to a flash game website, but when I clicked the link, it said "creep creepersin's creepshow" couldn't be found. Maybe it was there and got deleted for some reason? -
I wish I could afford a Vectrex. They seem awesome. Up to now, I've had to rely on ParaJVE.

Most of the biggies have been mentioned already, but if you're looking for solid gameplay, the Sunsoft Loony Tunes games are great. I would especially recommend Taz-Mania and Speedy Gonzales: Los Gatos Banditos.

I never doubted that King Of Kong was slanted because on the DVD, there's a text scroll in the extras fessing up to such. That said, it's still a good story and it's kind of a shame the fictionalized remake never got made. Oh well. Also, troll or not, Billy Mitchell is awesome.

What is the Worst Game you Ever Bought?

Celebrity Deathmatch on the PS1. I expected a kickass Mortal Kombat parody like the show, but nope. Blech. -
How Atari Box Art turned 8 bit games into virtual wonderlands

I'm intrigued by the book that was mentioned. I'll have to keep an eye out for that. -
What is your goal for 2013 (intv speaking)
oldskoolgaymer replied to maximebeauvais's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
My goal is to start collecting INTV games seriously. Awhile back, I picked up Intellivision Lives for the PS2 and loved it. Shortly afterward, I got an ebay lot that had an INTV II, the Intellivoice add on and 8 games. I didn't start collecting games for it then because I was still in my big hardware collecting phase. Now that I've got most of the systems I want (aside from a couple of the more expensive ones like the TurboDuo), I've decided to focus on the INTV because the games are tons of fun and most of them aren't very expensive (important for a gamer on a budget). I unfortunately don't have any spare cash for gaming right now, but I hope to soon. -

Intellivisionaries podcast ep1 now available
oldskoolgaymer replied to Rick Reynolds's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Excellent work, guys! Very informative and interesting to listen to. One suggestion: if you use "compare this" again in future episodes to transition between segments like you did in episode 1, you may want to edit it down to just a 60 or 90 second chunk of it because, while it is a cool piece, listening to the entire thing kind of hurt the flow of the show I thought. Other than that, I loved it. Can't wait for episode 2. -
Ditto. I play on emulators a lot, but when it comes to my personal high scores, I tend not to count them unless I get them on the original system (or, in some cases, a compilation disc like Midway Arcade Treasures, Namco Museum, etc).

Actually the cartridge version is a completely different homebrew. The guy who made it doesn't want to release the rom, but I've seen copies of the cart for sale on craigslist and elsewhere, so it's inevitable that eventually someone will dump it and release it into the wild. That's what I'm waiting for.

Space Invaders Frogger Super Breakout

Hi all! I have this cart where the label says Star Strike, but the game inside is Space Armada. Is this a common misprint or do I have an interesting oddity? I got it in an ebay lot with a few other games and the seller included manuals and overlays for both Star Strike and Space Armada. I thought I was missing one but it turns out I'm missing the other. Weird.
