http://digita.mame.net/closeup.htm Some guys managed to run MAME on some high tech kodak digital cameras. Photos included (no pun intended). Check it out.

Can your computer play the emulator with this without experiencing slowdown?

Mario will always get more attention just because its Mario. The fact the game was such a hit just adds more points to its side. Nights is a great game too but it doesn't have the notoriety as N64's flagship title. The controller looks like an early dreamcast pad prototype. That was one of the cool things about this game: the special controller.

Really? Because I've always loved the music from Rygar. It's one of my favorite in-game music pieces from the NES era. 1011050 Well not every music track in Rygar is gold, but I guess most people remember the cool tracks.

Actually it's the other way around. If you take care to read you will see that he and figgler are the ones making the fanboy attacks. I was having a normal conversation until these guys came in thrashing the thread. The truth is they are the ones being disruptive and doing exactly the same thing you are accusing me of. It's their fault they wanna take the fanboy route. What's interesting is that what I meant wasn't about M games not making it, but only speculating why a game like Sega's Shinobi wasn't released on the cube. So Mature games don't sell well on the cube. Why is that so sensitive to some people is anybody's guess.

Honestly I don't know. They had an atari pack for most consoles, but I don't remember them being complete. Some shots also looked kind of grainy and of low quality. If they were the people you mention then I guess you should be happy.

I noticed it today. The domain is no longer registered and is up for grabs. This site was very helpful for those looking for game related artwork. These guys had everything. They even offered customized versions of popular emus that added quick program termination at the press of the ESC key. Anyone ever took advantage of this website?

What place can I buy the Xbox the cheapest for?
Dones replied to Lacan's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
The cheapest I have seen used xbox 180's have been $100. Jsoper maybe you should wait until a price drop is announced. (maybe around E3?). Maybe a price drop isn't too far off the horizon. -
I don't know what I said, but it has sure pushed your buttons. You really need to re-read what was said. BTW you should calm down before writing - you misspell a lot of words when you are angry. Let people enjoy this thread without your trollish attacks. Anyway what I said was just speculation. Of course Shinobi wasn't released on Xbox --- it was a Sony exclusive. Then again Nintendo and Microsoft had locked some Sega exclusives too at that time. Sure a game like that could have been released on the cube, but the fact is it wasn't. Actually Sega has never released an M-rated game on the cube (that I know of), so it's pretty sure that even if they had the chance they wouldn't have done it anyway. Like someone said M games don't do well on the gamecube.

Shinobi was rated Mature, so it's very likely the game was never even considered for a cube release.

Is there a way to disable the DC's built-in clock?
Dones replied to Bill Brasky's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
If you are skillful in electronics, you could replace the soldered lithium battery with a 9volt battery cap or a small AAA/AA battery case (by attaching some leads in the right points where the original battery used to be. That way you could use normal re-chargeable AA or AAA batteries. There is not a lot of space in that frontal DC case area, but it's doable. -
Classic gaming tv/movie reference thread....
Dones replied to Haydn Jones's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Haydn, I am not sure if this counts, perhaps as a reverse gaming/tv reference. I was channel surfing today and catched a glimpse of 1985's scifi movie "Explorers". It shows a very young Ethan Hawke talking to some cheesy looking aliens. One of the aliens looks awfully a lot like Fester Blatz, the World O'Wonders store clerk from (yet another oldie) Space Quest III. Now who took the reference from whom? lol Here are the pics: -
When the cube came out these adapters were sort of a fad. I remember my local eb, gamestop (and even radio shack) selling these adapters for gc, xbox and dreamcast. The fad didn't last long though. Maybe the reason was because Playstation is the dominating console. Most people have a PS1 or PS2 so that means dualshocks are a plenty. People who bought such adapters probably bought the kiddie cube as a secondary console. Maybe they didn't want to spend (or didn't have enough) money buying peripherals they knew would not get so much use. Or maybe they wanted to play games more comfortably with symmetrically shaped buttons (ie, Soul Calibur II or those old classic game collections). Or maybe they just thought it was cool.

Game Genie and Pro Action Replay codes
Dones replied to Homie0static's topic in Classic Console Discussion
No the same one I provided previously: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.ga...m/Genietop.html It looks strange but it works. It points to The Wayback Machine, an internet archival website. -
Well if you meant "dumbed down" as in graphical quality then that's to be expected: it's a Nintendo console. I remember when Hydro Thunder came out on the arcades the N64 was already on its way out. Actually I was amazed HT actually got ported (didn't think it would be possible to do on n64 hardware). Then again that same team did wonders with San Francisco Rush (and probably they too were involved with N64's Gauntlet Legends port). Those two are also dumbed down graphically but are not that bad either. If you meant "dumbed down" as in its gameplay then you got me. I didn't play the arcade version enough to notice any difference. I did play the N64 port a lot. Like you mentioned it pales in comparison with the Dreamcast version but back then I didn't own a DC so I was pretty content with that cart. Those last levels are impossible to win. Even with a perfect race the computer would always be ahead of you. Was it like that in the arcade version?

Game Genie and Pro Action Replay codes

No archives on this page. Thank you for trying though. Any other suggestions? 1007336 Dude, click on the links presented on that page. It will load up a mirror of the official game genie site. -
No, no, no, no, no. Don't go to videogamecritic for segacd reviews. The author clearly dislikes FMV's and gives bad grades to even the better ones. Even the non-fmv games get a bad rep from him. Clearly the guy is biased and doesn't like the console. You can tell these reviews were a chore for the writer. Unless you happen to agree with his views then vgcritic is a tainted source. The best work of Sega CD reviews is SegaBase's Sega CD/Mega CD Game Reviews. It's full of factoids so it makes for a very entertaining read. It is the most objective and informative source for sega cd reviews. Reviews here are very honest an spot on. If it sucks, he will tell you why and without the "sega cd is crap"-tone found if videogamecritic's reviews.

I am amazed you even bothered with this game. It's an Acclaim title. What were you expecting, Gran Turismo? From your posting it looks like you got into the game looking for a simulation. I know the game had a "simulation" mode but it's obvious it was never meant to be a Gran Turismo-type simulator. I always thought the game's control where too loose though I only played in "arcade" mode. The graphics were OK at the time but the Dreamcast version is obviously the best looking one. Still it was a fun premise to be racing RC cars in all those environments. The menu music (for better or worse) stuck in my head for while

Not much anyone can say or do to remedy that. Either you dig it or not. That's odd. This game has very little micro management. Unlike other RPG's, you only upgrade those characters you want. You don't have to talk to everyone or read a quazillion stats to determine which item is better. And if you are too lazy then there is always the "Auto level up" option which will make the guesswork for you. What were you expecting? Oh but you see that's where this game shines. The dialogues are ripe with decision branches which will affect your force affinity. However you cannot screw it up --- the game will progress regardless of your choices. Still I can understand your criticisms. I have a friend who like you just hates the game. For those who do get it they are in for a ride.

edit: never mind I found a solution to my problem.

Another atari forum member mentioned something about it. The drivers I got are called "XBCD". They provide support for older windows OS'es (the official ones from Microsoft only work on XP). In a way they are better than the official stock because they offer plenty more features. For example XBCD let's you configure the 360's five axes separately while the official 360 driver merges two of those axes into one. The drivers are a bit buggy but hey I am not complaining.

In my experience putting compressed files in a bigger compressed file has not given any problems. You just can't compress it more than it already is (in most cases). I think the blame goes to your files themselves. They probably were corrupted begin with. That or maybe the CD backup went bad on you. I had some cd backups I made where the a file or two where burned incorrectly (giving me crc errors). What works for me is to use winrar for archival backups rather than just plain zips. I get better compression rates and I can create recovery volumes to avoid problems like the one you have. Anyway I once used an utility called Advanced Zip Repair which helped me a few times. I think they are not free anymore so check it out. http://www.repair-zip-files.com/

Game Genie and Pro Action Replay codes
Dones replied to Homie0static's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Galoob, the makers of the Game Genie, had a website with a section devoted to the product until the late 1990's. You can still peruse most of the codes through The Wayback Machine.. Select a date around 1998 for best results. Good luck!
