  1. People outgrow Nintendo. There is only so much iterations of the same stale Mario Parties/Karts/Tennis/insert-derivative-idea-here before people lose interest. As long as they keep their main kid target market it won't be an issue for them.
  2. If graphics are so low priority for Nintendo then their games will be graphically un-demanding enough for any next gen to run them. They did allow 3rd parties to host their mascots on other games. That might very well be Nintendo testing the 3rd party waters. People need an an incentive to upgrade. Many people who bought 360's have definitely a good excuse to get an hdtv (if they haven't already).
  3. Here it is. Feel free to discuss, nitpick, etc. 979930[/snapback] Sounds like bullsh* t to me. Just Nintendo avoiding the question. Wild guess they just want to keep the public confused until they decide to throw another morsel at E3 (and clam up again). Pure nintendish vapor talk.
  4. Because you are a devoted Nintendo fan. "All your base are belong to Nintendo" I think it is really silly to put Mario or any Nintendo mascot in every 1st and 3rd party gamecube game. It was kind of cool back when Soul Calibur 2 came out but now the practice has become as stale as a Mario Party title. Anyway at this point in gamecube's life who cares? I say lets celebrate gamecube's last year by playing whatever sequel regurgitation Nintendo want us to buy.
  5. Don't know, my genesis video is not as sharpy as today's consoles but it's not as blurry like in the previous pics. In my opinion captures are not the best examples for comparison because some image quality is always lost in the process, but here you go: a capture of Sonic 1 from a Genesis model 1 through the unit's a/v out adapter using the the standard Din to RCA sega cable.
  6. Your point of view is most likely blurred by nostalgia.
  7. Well the Arcade Stick and Sports Pad did blow, but most of the other peripherals were cool (3-D Goggles anyone?). The NES had its share of dogs too (ROB, NES Advantage, Power Pad, etc.) I think this is an area where the Sega outdid Nintendo. The 3D glasses performed way better than the flimsy anaglyphic paper glasses used by the NES. Sega actually supported the peripheral with a nice set of games (including 3D versions of arcade hits like Space Harrier and Outrun). Nintendo only bothered to make two. SMS's phaser gun looks way cooler than the zapper (and performed better too).
  8. I hear the system was very popular in Europe during its time (and had more games released over there).
  9. http://www.bannister.org/software/ao.htm I want to give some positive kudos to this stand alone game music player. It's simple, easy to use and plays over 20 game music file formats. Worth checking out.
  10. That sounds great. Thanks for the suggestions.
  11. I agree with you. I was just thinking what would be the most appropriate comment to leave at the feedback field.
  12. I bought a cpu on ebay. The chip arrived promptly but was doa. I emailed the seller and asked him how to proceed with the return process. The seller refunded the paypal payment (minus shipping fees of course). Except for the bad cpu everything about dealing with this seller went surpringsingly smooth. I want to leave him positive feedback and was wondering what would you guys would write (for the feedback comment) in this particular case?
  13. Give me the name of one atari fan who doesn't consider the following to be art
  14. Or is it? Other than a technical demo of a re-tooled level in Metroid Echoes, Nintendo has not given any concrete example of real games (or any chance to see the console playing an actual game). Until they unveil some actual information and let people use their new toy, they are just talking nintendish. At least Microsoft has something real to show, not even Sony has anything concrete to make public knowledge.
  15. People still following this discussion should read Next Generation's article "Why Ebert Was Right" for more fuel to the fire.
  16. But you did call it a draw Not only that but without any bona fide source to back him up, it's just random numbers.
  17. I wonder how the seller managed to get a hold of twenty five 360's
  18. It's the "sell" part that's really the problem: Game manufacturers aren't really concerned about producing a quality game with lots of lasting value; since it's all about profit, the #1 priority is simply getting it out the door. Who cares if people get it home and think it's crap, and sell/trash/ignore it. As long as it's flashy enough to sucker them into buying it in the first place, they consider it a job well done. While reading your post I couldn't help to think of the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games. They look pretty but the gameplay is horrible. Still konami has managed to sell enough of them to warrant a couple of sequels.
  19. Steve what type of video card do you have? According to fileplanet SWBF2 supports the following: Maybe yours can run the game.
  20. Perhaps you are right but you know what? It doesn't matter how much people shrug about better graphics, the point gets muted when they see a next gen game that really appeals to them. Then they quickly change their tune. Graphics sells.
  21. I think people were wowed by the generous use of slow-mo action effects which was so much in vogue during the time the first title came out. I didn't like having to pay for continuing at the spot your character gets killed. The game is already difficult as it is.
  22. There is a trick in the Sega Master System version where in the 3rd stage (the cavern stage) you would fly your heli in reverse in order to avoid enemy fire. I don't know if the same would apply to the arcade version.
  23. So no music during menus. Sounds fine to me. Yeah I like having a game screensaver too. It gives me a chance to check out games I wouldn't normally play. In my case I have my FE setup to rotate games every 3 minutes. Usually I leave it so it randomly chooses from all my games, but lately I just configure it to rotate games of a certain console or genre.
