I remember this game being big in arcades at the time and I loved it, but I sucked at it. I play the NES version once in a hwile. There's a pretty good port for the original GameBoy too, ya know... The Saturn game is a port of Elevator Action 2, aka Elevator Action returns. Much better graphics, with a a lot of Rolling Thunder-type side-scrolling thrown in the mix. Evidentally you can unlock the arcade original when you complete the game (which I can't seem to do.) Cheers

I think the Sega CD was a failure, but a fairly mild one (not like the 32x debacle.) 100+ games is nothing to sneeze at (better than the TG-16, and remember that the Nintendo 64 didn't go much past 250 games released in the US... a lot of companies, especially Nintendo, made a lot of cash on the N64) The Sega CD has some great games that didn't appear on any other platform, including some awesome shooters Andriod Assault (great shooter) Batman Returns (includes an awesome driving section not on cart) Eternal Champions (awesome and very deep fighter, lots of secrets) Keio Flying Squadron (very cool little shooter, too bad so rare) Lords of Thunder (better on Turbo Duo, but still a great shooter) Novastorm (ok, this sucks) Rise of the Dragon (2nd onnly to Snatcher in this tiny genre) Robo Aleste (great shooter) Snatcher (best ever! English translation ONLY on Sega/Mega CD!!!) Sonic CD (best 2-D Sonic?) SoulStar (I love scrolling shooters... this one is great) Slipheed (THE BEST of the Sega CD shooters) Sol-Feace (pack-in game, better than Genesis Sol-Deace) StarBlade (Pretty darn good 3-D graphics) Stellar Fire (not the best, but I still like it) Third World War (great strategy RPG) The SEga CD does have more than it's fair share of crap games, but you can't deny that it had some good ones plus surprisingly great RPG's

Looks like I'm just agreeing with everyone else... I haven't played the Quake hacks for the Dreamcast, but Quake 3 Areana is pretty darn good. Quake 64 and particularly Quake 64 are very impressive... great texturing, and the N64 hardware is put to good use. Get up cose to almost any surface and you won't see any pilixilation/ Use the RAM pak for better weapons effects. Quake II for the PS1 is surprisingly good... great lighting effects, excellent frame rate... I was impressed. I was AMAZED by the Saturn port of the original Quake... it's heavy on the browns and greens and the graphics have that standard muddy Saturn quality to them, but the game plays exceptionally well.

I must admit... I despise Telegames. Their prices are high (which is their right) but their slaespeople are rude and have actually told me outright lies. NCSX.com (no Jag games... just lots of imports), on the other hand, also features some high prices, but their staff is A+ and they are so professional I just want to hug them.

So CGE is going to San Jose? Everyone knows... when your show-of-shows is too big for Vegas, San Jose is the only place big enough to host you! As for Sean... I'm sorry to hear that he's giving a nice person a hard time, especially for an item that has been paid for. Like I said before... Sean was always rude, slow, and possibly drunk, but he eventually did follow through with his commitments. I wish you luck, whoever you may be. I think you'll get your items eventually. Sean is many things, but I don't think he's an outright thief.

This is not about him being perfect or him being severely flawed. This is about Sean Kelly not satisfying his end of the transaction, especially in a timely fashion and in a cordial manner. It really is quite simple. This is not just one occurrence, this is one of NUMEROUS occurrences. Jess, if you and other people are willing to bend over to let Sean continue to handle business in his poor fashion, then you need to get your head out of the sand and recognize when you are being taken advantage of. What is your favorite online store, Jess? Tell me, if you were to order something from the store and didn't hear anything from that company for months and when you finally did hear something from them after persistent correspondence and their response was rude, curt and hostile, would you really be just as forgiving as you are of Sean? Ah, yes, I forget----it's because "he has made some important contributions to this hobby". Just because he has done some things for this hobby does not mean he should be able to get away with crap just because he has that claim as his trump card. If Sean were doing something for free for you, that is a FAVOR, and hey he can take his damn sweet time, no problem. But if there was money involved, it is now an OBLIGATION and a TRANSACTION, and there are legal and professional reasons why he needs to satisfy his end within a reasonable fashion. Sorry but 6+ or 8+ months is NOT a reasonable fashion. Give me a break. Besides, if he were a nice guy he would at least respond with updates on why it was taking so long for an order to get completed and not have an attitude about it like he can't be bothered. The worst part about all of this is that not only is Sean SLOW to respond, but he's also RUDE and NONCORDIAL. It's as though he has the attitude: what??? how dare they question how much longer it will take for me to get them what they already paid for months ago??? don't they know who I am??? I am Sean Kelly!!! I have done amazing things for this hobby!! Screw them! If Sean Kelly decides to no longer provide some of the services he does (or in some cases, disservices) in this hobby, I couldn't care less because someone or some other people will step up and take his place. People had the same fear about when Hozer went away. OH HEAVENS NO WHERE WILL I BUY CARTS FROM OH NOOOO!!! But now we have multiple sources from where to buy carts from: AA, Packrat, to name a couple. Amen to that. I've talked to Kelly a few times in person, and he was always (without fail) a very rude, possibly drunk, certainly bitter dickhead. I'll bet the people who frequent his store just LOVE his attitude. I'd agree that Sean has made several importnat contributions to the hobby, but his complete lack of customer service skills and all-around shitty attitude has left a bad taste in my mouth (we are exchanging money for a product, folks... just because he provides difficult-to-find items does not mean he has free reign to ignore e-mails, take 6 months to ship something, screw you on shipping, and be an asshole in general.) I wouldn't buy from him again, even if he was still selling his multicarts. I certainly don't frequent his store, and I live less than an hour from him. I'm done venting now. Damn Mondays!
-
It's a shame he doesn't make them, but I've heard his 5200 and Colecovision multicarts broke a lot. He sure isn't good about answering e-mail, so maybe it's for the best. I'll bet he's a barrel of laughs i person, especially when he's at work

hmmm... are there any adapters to play this on a us 32x? and is this a territory lock out? if so' date=' in the genesis or the 32x?[/quote'] There are no territorial lockouts between JAPANESE and AMERICAN systems... Gekijoban Sangokushi IV (the Japanese name for the game) will run just fine on an American 32x... it's all in Japanese, though, and not the type of game one can play if one has no knowledge of Japanese. Some UK games will play on a domestic 32x (like FIFA Soccer) while others won't (DarXide) I personally prefer Saturn Virtua Racing to the 32x version... more tracks and cars. I personally feel that Shadow Squadron, DarXide, Blackthorne, Kolibri, Virtua Racing, and especially Virtua Figher are the best 32x games. VF really shows what the 32x could do. Too bad it got caned before it could show its full potential, but it was a bad idea to start with.

could the atari jaguar ever handle the quake engine??
MsPacBitch replied to Andreaus44's topic in Atari Jaguar
There are 1, 2 and 4MB ram carts for the Saturn. They were issued for Japanese releases, mostly for SNK and Capcom fighters. http://www.shinforce.com/saturn/RAMCompatibility.htm Wow. I have been gravely uninformed about these ram carts and I think I even own one and didn't know it! Although mine is not on the list at the site, maybe it's a copy of one of those? I bought it thinking it was a cart strictly for allowing Japanese games to work on an american console, plus a save-game memory. I bought originally for saving my Hexen game, but it never worked for that. I figured I had a bad cart or something. here's a pic of mine, it's got a switch for 1M or 4M: I had one of those... it worked well for several years until it finally went kaput. Just so everyone knows... the additional RAM memory carts came in three configurations... 1 meg, 4 megs, and combo carts like the one listed above. There was no 2 meg cart, and there certainly wasn't a 32 meg cart. Most of the games that required a cart came with it, though many games could be purchased separately. A few games could use the 1 meg cart but did not REQUIRE it (like Cyberbots.) The only game released in the USA that can use the ram cart is Marvel Super Heroes... use that 1 meg cart and you'll bring up an additional option in the option list to add some animation frames. Cool! There are 2 or 3 games that came with their own specific cart... King of Fighters '95 did, as does Ultraman. KOf '96 may have one as well. The cart contains data ON THE CART that MUST be used in conjunction with the game CD or it simply won't run the game and you'll get an error message... the cart contains the background graphics or something like that. The regular RAM carts won't work. Notice how I added absolutely nothing to the main topic of Quake on the Jag. I think it could have been done, albiet in a greatly compromised form. -
Nope. Gunvalkyrie is a third person action game. It's more Tomb Raider than it is a shooter. 'Kay. 3 guesses as to who judges games by the art on the front... I've owned and played Gunvalkyrie and I can assure you that it's not a 2D shooter nor is it a good game. It's simply a poorly done 3rd person action blaster with some seriously broken controls. Believe me, I know my games. WHAT?!? Seriously, I LOVE Gunvalkyrie! This game is truly hardcore (and hard.) The control takes A LOT of practice, butonce you've got it you can truly call yourself a gamer. This game rocks, but it WILL kick your ass with its frustration level. It was originally a DC game... give it another chance!

To say Carmagaddon 64 wasn't very good is a SERIOUS understatement... I think it's neck-in-neck with Superman 64 as the worst N64 game EVER. Seriously. Ever played it? It's AWFUL. Bad graphics, terrible control issues, zombies with green blood instead of people... just awful. It was scheduled to come out on the PSX but never made it.

Which PS1 games use hi-res (~640x480)?
MsPacBitch replied to RCmodeler's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Tobal No.1 uses the hi-res mode. The 60fps mode of Battle Arena Toshindin 3 gets rid of texture mapping to double the fps count and MIGHT bump the game into hi-res, but I'm not positive on that. -
My Totota Tercel with 68,000 miles need a complete engine rebuild. 68,000 easy-driven highway miles. I thought Toyota's were supposed to hold up... and this one was built in Japan. Shitheap.

The 32x version of Virtua Racing is quite a bit better than the already impressive Genny version... much more color, more polygons, better sound, faster frame rate, just all around better... but that's what you get when you compare a 16-bit game with a built-in chip with a game utilizing two 32-bit cpu's. The 32x version also has additional tracks and two more cars. The Genny version of VR is impressive considering the hardware... I wish Sega had stuck with the FX concept like Nintendo and kept refining the chip... it would have gotten cheaper to produce after awhile.

No, the 32x is not a catridge-based Saturn... the "Neptune" was a Genesis and 32x combined in one console. The 32x went belly-up and Sega cancelled the Neptune. Rumor has it that Sega considered making a cartridge based Saturn console called "Jupiter" that would be cheaper than Saturn but use carts. This idea was said to be scapped because it was stupid. The 32x is vaguely similar to the Saturn in that it uses a dual-processor layout, but the chips in the 32x run slower than those of the Saturn, plus the 32x lacks the 2 custom graphics co-processors of the Saturn as well as its high-end Yamaha sound chip. The Saturn is quite a bit more powerful and versatile than the 32x.
