  1. Interesting comparison, the classic biting sounds effects from Cloudy Mountain are so wrong in the Intellivision Flashback, however, its color reproduction seems more faithful to the original console. Is there a way to tweak the jzIntv emulator color palette?
  2. Yes, they appear to have a custom pinout configuration but the adapter also supports custom firmware (link here). Whoa, that was fast, let us know how it goes.
  3. Has anyone tried this USB adapter to connect their Intellivision controllers to a computer? (there's more info here). I suppose most of you are already familiar with the Ultimate PC Interface, but this other alternative looks sleeker and I wonder if it's compatible with the jzIntv emulator as well. Thanks.
  4. Are there any easter eggs hidden in the game? Any unimplemented features? Was the teleportation from level 256 back to level 1 intended to be that way or was it one of those bugs turned into a feature by documentation (is written right there in page 5 of the manual). I think this was already discussed in the episode 6 but, did he take any inspiration from other existing games? Also, you should definitely mention the contenders of the AtariAge "INTV best games of all time" final poll.
  5. Yeah, there's probably not enough market to justify a separate controller, on second thought, I think the Flashback unit promises to be a good substitute of the Intellivision Lives! product. Getting some actual hardware plus two real controllers (with overlays to boot) for just twice the price of the CD is quite a deal, I just hope the emulation is accurate enough without the several bugs that have plagued other official products.
  6. Humm... I recently purchased a loose Tron Solar Sailer that turned out to be a Hong Kong variant, didn't know they were rare.
  7. Thanks, I'm aware of that kit but it's just too expensive (about $70) especially considering the Flashback will be around $40, the fact that most controllers are not detachable is another issue and I don't think everyone is willing to tear apart a perfectly functioning console for this purpose. Separate controllers with direct USB connection would be great to those solely interested in PC/Mac emulation... Bluetooth support, even better of course. By the way, the Rocks (and Lives, I suppose) emulator begs for an update, in my PC the colors and sounds are messed up, I get way better results with the unofficial software (Nostalgia and jzIntv), current/future status of the official emulator could be another question to Keith.
  8. When do you plan to release the new version of Intellivision Lives! for the PC/Mac? How about selling it through Steam to reach a wider audience? Also, considering the work done with the upcoming Flashback unit, is there any chance of seeing the same controller with USB/Bluetooth connectivity for PC/Mac users?
  9. Don't worry, the seller has you covered (from the listing description): "Item ships Wrapped and Protected"
  10. Got word from the seller and pricing is still $10 a pair, I guess I could get as many as necessary. Perhaps this deserves a separate "interest check" thread in the marketplace. Yeah, who knows, maybe you could even create a more resistant version, although the original set is not too expensive here. I don't have a Facebook account, so you can point the UK guy to this forum in case he is interested.
  11. Well, I just asked the seller and unfortunately he only has a single pair in stock, I will ask him if he can get more and let you know if that's the case. Edit: Apparently he can renew stock but price might be higher, I requested a quote anyway.
  12. Just reached the first hour mark... by the way, to that guy who wrote from the UK (and anyone else who might be interested) looking for a controller circuit matrix, a local auction site here in Venezuela is selling them for about US$10 a pair. Maybe I could serve as a middle man and have them shipped to you, although I'm not sure how much would it be (I guess they can fit inside a envelope, thus reducing the cost). Here are some pictures of it, please notice that they are only compatible with Intellivision I type controllers.
  13. Boing! Thump! Crash!... I would always burst into laughter watching my poor skier hit all flags, land on the moguls or become trapped inside a forest, at the end of the course even the spectators would stop cheering as he invariably bumped into them at full 15 slope speed, so yeah, my vote goes to Skiing. For similar reasons, Hockey's tripping feature and sound effect deserves a second place
  14. Ok, no problem, however, if that was the case, then the odds of getting a "B" would be hard to predict, considering that my white label cart, supposedly released after the running change was ordered, still has the old bug, unless it's been relabeled, of course... so beware, this might be one of those hard to find goodies for collectors out there Edit: just saw your other reply, well, regardless of the source, now we know the variant is somewhere in the wild
  15. Yeap, "B" variant is definitely bug free, mystery has been officially solved . By the way, did you dump it from a Mattel red label cart or was it an Intellivision, Inc. white label version?
  16. Yes, thank you for the thorough analysis... but we yet have to confirm the fix is actually working during gameplay to officially call it a corrected variant, don't we? I can try it if you PM me the "B" file, just for research purposes of course (I do own a bugged cart, though).
  17. It will happen with the left controller only, the right controller works just fine as the insert recommends, also, there is no need to use both controllers simultaneously to reproduce the issue.
  18. I don't have the Intellivision Lives! CD... yet (still waiting for the updated version Keith has promised) but if a certain ROM file that is floating around the Internet came from that source, then I can confirm that variant A is the bugged version. Not sure about the other one, though, you are probably the only person who has dumped that version so far.
  19. Interesting report, makes me wish I had knowledge about assembly language... can you post the CRC-32 checksums of both ROMs?
  20. That's a rather interesting title, although the speech files would take a lot of space to cope with all... those... dramatic... pauses.
  21. I'm too lazy to hook up the Intv right now... *checks Intvfunhouse*... hummm... nice easter egg
  22. Now, the question is: does the debugged cartridge really exist? Granted, the bug is not critical, but still might be interesting to those looking for all kinds of variants.
  23. Also enjoyed the fan interview, by the way, this is the response I got from Keith when I asked him about the prototype screenshots from the old catalogs, including D&D:
