  1. For Js,

Joust was one of my favorite games back in the day. Used to play this two player versus.

Jumpman Jr. is very hard! much more than its predecessor.

Jungle Hunt is a good arcade port.

Jet Set Willy is supposed to be one of the better games on C64, I wouldn't mind trying it here.

Besides Kronos Rift and Karateka neither of which lend themselves well to HSC. I haven't played many K games. Kangaroo is good though.

  2. It's just the first three boards take the screenshot at the start of the 2nd bonus screen - details on the first post of all the challenges - they are to be played as part of normal goes ;)

Your details are inaccurate, but I can figure out what to do.

Fun challenges to be played as part of normal goes: Highest number of kills. Highest score in 1st man. Highest score on first screen in 1 man. Highest score on first three screens in 1 man (the 2nd screen is a bonus level).

The 2nd screen is a bonus level, if you collect all 5 letters.

  3. IXION Challenges

    Screens 1-3 in 1 man

    trbb 57,520

    First life

Not sure exactly what Screens 1-3 mean. I Completed the first level, played a bonus round. Completed the 2nd round, played a bonus round, and finally played the 3rd screen and played the bonus round. Is this screens 1-3, or screens 1-6?

Screens 1-3 in 1 man (Incorrect)

This is just proof that knowing the pattern isn't sufficient, you also need to be able to execute the pattern. I am working on it, and even if I make a mistake, it do see that if I get back up to speed, the pattern does reemerge.

The pattern is something like this.

    Top/1st (wait for 2nd B, Y, G), 2nd and transition to Bottom,(wait 3rd Y),3rd (wait 2nd B), 2nd, Top (wait 2nd G, B, G),Bottom for a while, BRAKE, Top or Third (can't remember), Top, oil slicks and BRIDGE

Top, Bottom, Top, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd (wait Top lots of cars, 3rd oil), 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, (wait a bit), bottom, BRIDGE

    3rd, break (behind blue), Bottom (wait 3rd G, B, R), 3rd, 2nd (wait Bottom Y), Bottom, 3rd, Bottom, BRIDGE

Top/Bottom (your choice) should see two red cars in both 2nd/3rd lanes, Bottom (wait Top R, B, G, B, 3rd oil), 3rd, Top, Top, 3rd, oil slicks CHECKED FLAG.

  5. When we played Space Rocks a little while ago, we played that UFO hunting was legal game strategy, which is a direct contradiction of the example in Zero's posted rules.

I felt that was a little too easy to pull off in SpiceWorld's SpaceRocks game, but since they said it was legal, I used it to my advantage. I think on my 100k+ score that I was able to hit 20k before moving beyond the first level. It was fairly easy to shot UFOs/Magma rocks for 1k/250ish and rack up a big score without suffering the higher number of asteroids.

I am fine either day this thing works out. I mentioned exactly what I did, because it felt almost like cheating. I also did it, because I expected to need that extra man at 40k when facing the second wave of UFOs (turns out I didn't need it). I also did it, becuase up until my most recent score, there was a 3 way "tie" for the top, with each player needing to down one more UFO on the 2nd wave, and the only thing separating the scores was the number of random extra 100 point planes they shot down.

  6. Don't know the best way to handle this? It is quite easy to milk points on the bi-plane levels without getting shot. Which means, you can arbitrarily increase your score by 100 point increments. I did this on the first level, waiting until I scored 7,000 points before blowing up the blimp. Should we just measure highest level obtained? (Should I just subtract 7k from my HS, or just throw this one out?)

  7. Grand Prix (a good run, the secret is to not try to go full speed the whole time, coast here and there and you do much better)

I disagree. The secret is to realise that the game is 100% reproducable from one game to the next. The cars come out in exactly the same spots at the same times. The real trick to to memorize the important cars and know when to shift lanes.

Working on a pattern now so that I can catch NCG.

  8. Invasion gets a very poor rating on AtariMania (4.6), but I can't see why it scored so low. It has good control and it's deeper than a plain shooter (you have to assembler a bridge-- or I think that it's a bridge). I like it. I wish I could find docs for it... but I guess they'd be in German.

Invasion is the game that I chose. How do you build a bridge? It looked as if all you could do is shoot 4 red helicopters and bomb anti air guns while avoiding the jet.

Where do you pick up bridge pieces, and how?

  9. Played some more on Eagles nest, didn't manage to complete the first level yet, I keep running out of ammo!

You shouldn't collect the entire column of ammo pods when running low. Each pod is worth 50, so the 1x4 stack is 200 ammo (more than you can carry)
  10. I guess I might as well get some bonus points.

Impact - This appears to be a 2-player only game. You control two ships and attempt to not crash them into each other.

Invasion - A very poor Scramble clone.

  11. We'll see how it goes - don't want the top players to bag too many points though but if people wa :thumbsup:nt to play more make it 2 unique games and 1 that someone else has played perhaps...

One way to limit points, is to say that you can receive a maximum of 2 bonus points for bonus games. You just post a game screenshot of an 'I' game, and that is your high score for that game. If you don't have 2 points yet, or you don't have/(or don't want) to claim an 'I' game that no one else has, you can post a score higher than the previous high score to score 1 point for that game (the original poster loses their 1 point). Then the original player can choose to try to beat the score that beat them, or post a different game.

  12. Time Pilot - 35,100

    Grand Prix - 2:46.41

    Mountain King - 65,135

I know I can improve Time Pilot and Mountain King. I don't seem to have the hang of Grand Prix. Time Pilot is only difficult on the last 2 levels, where the plans as fast/nearly as fast as you. If I could kill that last ufo, it would wrap around to the biplanes, and I could score another +6k easily (which would be another extra man)

  13. Drelbs

    1st CapitanClassic 48,450

I saw hearts/diamonds for the first time. Those didn't show up before. Getting the hang of this game. The mini game for saving the Drelbs is pretty easy now. The trolls fire in a pattern, up/down then right/left. You can time your movement so that you don't get hit by them. The mini game is worth 5,000 I think.

  14. I was using paddles for DMM but looks like it's L/R only - I didn't realise the mono disk/ATR ver had U/D for double flip

Guess I need to play the mono version.

When you got the better score on EFDW did you get to see more than a second of the third screen before it ended?

(On atarimania the docs screenshot shows your ship on the right hand edge and I figure the columns are buildings.)

Just a second, bit because i am playing on emulator, I was able to pause it. Still blew up immediately afterward. Didn't think to take a screen capture. I will do so next time. The columns could be buildings, and the circles are where you are supposed to drop bombs.
