Season 3/ Week 11 ~ The NEW HSC ~ Ms. Pac-Man
CapitanClassic replied to Vocelli's topic in 2600 High Score Club
Does this mean that we can score a total of +6 = +3 +2 +1 bonus points? Or are we just supposed to score the highest one? Lets start this off. CapitanClassic Ms. Pac-man - 50,530 Hangman - Rustle (+3 Game 4) Looks like I have my work cut out for me. Here are the top 5 scores from previous HSC/challenges. Looks like I need to triple my score. Atari 2600 Knockout Final (2012) 138,750 Deteacher 116,550 toymailman 81,150 Jifremok 76,250 Vocelli New HSC while Zero is away (2011) 146,620 oyamafamily 104,460 toymailman 58,560 JacobZu7zu7 52,010 Zoyx 52,000 roadrunner HSC Special (2008) 121,810 (NE146) 120,650 (jimdandy75) 112,170 (Deteacher) 98,820 (SpiceWare) 95,290 (toymailman) HSC 1 999,990 (sku_u) 253,140 (Jeffy Arensmeyer) 127,650 (Stingray) 104,130 (NE146) 86,770 (EricDeLee) -
I was excited when I saw all these 2,000-8,000 scores for Hover Bovver, since I knew I could easily post a score in the 10,000+ range (now not so much, with your HS posted). Thanks for letting me know how the Catch Up will work. Either way will probably work out (for example, 5-6 points are possible for the 'A' games, which would score 10-12 points with the bonus game not included. McKong ranked first for 12 points for a combined 2nd/2nd place finish.) Working on beating the 'A' scores, I'm coming for you.

Considering joining the Atari800 HSC, since I have been having so much fun with the Atari 2600 HSC. Just trying to understand the scoring for catch up players. It looks like you can only score bonus points (+5 possible), since normal rankings are past the weeks for posting scores. With 6 or so games (A-F), you might be able to score 30 points, which is about half the current leaderboard scores. Is that accurate?

Season 3 / Week 10 ~ The NEW HSC Club ~ Tapper
CapitanClassic replied to Vocelli's topic in 2600 High Score Club
Not that I could tell, but I usually get the 3,000 pt. bonus. I only see the difficulty increase as the number of customers/longer you take to finish a level, and of course as you increase in levels. You need to get those bonuses though, as 3,000 points represents 60 Cowgirls, 40 Sportmen, 30 Punks/empty mugs, 20 Aliens, or 3 completed levels. Try focusing on the top or bottom of the cylinder, and only on the non-shaken one. If you filter out the other movement, it is easier to follow the one bottle, as usually it doesn't move twice in a row and the mini game doen't get any faster unlike the Arcade version. -

Did you see NorthCoastGamer's tip (name change though). I quoted it, because it is the best tip in the game, "DON'T move forward down the bar after throwing a drink, the customer will always throw it back." I will add, that if you throw drinks to the patrons before they reach the halfway point, they will usually go all the way off screen. The longer you wait, the more likely that you will have to collect empty mugs (you can still send a quick drink immediately back, before collecting the empty and dash up/down throwing 2 drinks to the other bars, then catch the return mug and repeat if necessary) -

Season 3 / Week 10 ~ The NEW HSC Club ~ Tapper

If only my math was better. You can only score 00, 25, 50, and 75 for your last 2 digits. Sportsmen score you 75 points, so they are the only way to get a 5 in the ones position, (unfortunately this means you have either a 2 or 7 in the tens position). You cannot get a 5-of-kind until 100000, but currently you can get a 4-of-kind at (and score pretty high up) 70000 77775 80000 90000 (Ninjaed by DT Kofoed). Point still stands that you need to clear even numbers of Sportmen to get the +4 bonus or go for the 77775) CapitanClassic 100,000 (+5) 5-of-Kind 80,000 (4-of-Kind +4) Shooting for 150k now. -

+1 best tip in this game. I am scoring much better now. Considering posting a score, but it is higher than the 77775 (3rd place and +4 bonus) score which currently stands as the best tactical score to post until I can hit 100000. -

A relatively low score for obtaining the Alien levels. -

Are we allowed to farm points on the easier levels? If you learn the patterns, you can get to the Aliens well under 40,000. (I just died on the 2nd Alien level with 43,850). I don't like this version of the game. The Atari 800 version is what I am used to. This one doesn't allow you to throw more than 2 glasses at a time, but if you press the button it queues one up if you don't move to a different bar. The throw count also seems affected by glasses on a return trip from customers. Attempts (don't count because it's Friday): 1. 19,825 2. 29,800 3. 33,600 4. 36,675 5. 37,375 6. 43,850 7. 29,225 8. 26,625 9. 31,900 -
Season 3/ Week 9 ~ The NEW HSC ~ River Raid
CapitanClassic replied to Vocelli's topic in 2600 High Score Club
@Vocelli, you might want to edit the OP to make it very clear that only pictures of your plane respawning in-between the road count. We have had two submissions that missed your clarification to my question. (You might also note the reasoning behind it, I.e. much easier to take a screenshot in an emulator in-game and have a score up to 10k points less.) Additionally, since the game starts at 3 lives (2 planes remain if you crash with 0 points) and maxes out at 9 planes, the max score is 8 planes at 60k points. Some HSC members have requested a lower bonus planes in reserve than 5. Any plans on lowering this to 3/4 planes in reserve so more HSC members can compete? Arrgh, these crappy Flashback 2+ controllers. Going to need to switch to a genesis controller or one of my old Kraft controllers. -

Lowest score possible for the Bonus Planes 8. -
Season 3/ Week 9 ~ The NEW HSC ~ River Raid
CapitanClassic replied to Vocelli's topic in 2600 High Score Club
Any reason why the Bonus Lives scoring starts at 5 planes? This bonus is essentially how long can you stay alive without dying. (with a push your luck aspect) 2 Planes, 0 points minimum (too easy) 3 Planes, 10k points minimum (could start here) 4 Planes, 20k 5 Planes, 30k 6 Planes, 40k 7 Planes, 50k 8 Planes, 60k @karpkoenig, I think with Vocelli's clarification your pic doesn't count. You need to be respawning, so no need to fiddle with your camera so much. (This also prevents emu players from having an advantage)
