  1. 8 planes, 60,000 points HSC - 554,400 I have to say that playing this thing on almost real hardware is much better than emulated. The Flashback 2's controller is pretty close to the real thing, and it is much easier to make the split second dodges using it than a keyboard. Although I have been having issues with one joystick. It seems to stick in the up/down position, even when the joystick has returned to neutral.
  2. From the album: Atari 2600 High Score Club

Only 50 points off from perfect.
  3. Not sure I understand the bonus rules completely. Do you want a picture when the plane respawns, or does in game count? If in game counts, the lowest theoretical score is 50,000 to get to 8 life remaining. If only respawn counts, the lowest theoretical score is 60,000 to get to 9 life, then die, and respawn with 8 planes in reserve. River Raid - 359,710
  4. If we want consistent pictures, we should change the rules to the following: What is the lowest score you can get until you knock out this bridge? ~ Your Pic MUST show this bridge/road knocked out ~ Your Pic MUST show your plane respawning in-between the road, ready for you to touch the joystick and continue play. ~ You May have 1+ lives left but not 0 Lives. The other rules imply that the middle rule was the intent, but as LidLikesIntellivision points, the example photo leads to confusion.
  5. If it isn't the right bridge, I have an issue with my ROM and my Flashback 2+.You will note that in your picture, the bridge where you normally restart is almost off the screen. For comparison, here is the first 12 11 bridges (duplicated bridge 4) of the game (bridge 1 is where you start the game at. Note: you never destroy this bridge). You will note that the entire road is visible where your plane normally starts. You will also note that the 5th bridge (labeled 6 here), is the correct bridge. Unless you accomplished some sort of exploit, that 4,000+ score isn't possible.
  6. actually, that 1480 score is what I thought I could get. If you hit all ramps, land on all platforms, crush all cars, bounce 2x after a jump, the score cap is nearer to 1,700. I haven't found a way to collect all bonuses though. Speaking of which, this run is nearly perfect. I only accidentally scored 50 points via collapsing ramps. I missed a 50 point bonus that I don't think I can collect (without missing other potential points) I missed a 50 point bonus that I could collect. I missed 3x 25 point platform bonuses. A possible 20 point car crush. I missed 105 potential bounce on wheels points. I think I can accept an 85% success rate. MotorRodeo - 1,520
  7. it is actually the 4th bridge. You score 500 points for blowing up a bridge, so unless come bug/exploit exists, this is the lowest score possible. I would have prefered this to be something like the 10th bridge. Much harder to not shoot anything for 10 levels (impossible I think, but searching for the best path would be fun) than 4.
  8. Might as well score the bonus first. The HS is going to take some time. Which would everyone prefer? A photo of my Flashback 2 with all exclaimations marks, or a video without sound using PCAE? Not sure if this counts. What does, "fly fast and only shoot if you have to?" Does this mean we cannot hold the joystick neutral (must push forward?) First Attempt (this week) (TBonePearson had this as an Atari Challenge, so I have had some fairly recent practice in the last 2 months. We were playing Expert difficulty, so we only got straight missiles.) 108,650 Friday doesn't count. Low Score Challenge - 2,000
  9. I can score about 1480 or so if I practice the jumps. I think you are being a little too hard on yourself by throwing out a game if you accidently score an exploit. I regularly score 50 points for collapsing ramps even when I dont want to.
  10. While I never used the stick for the VCS, it was my prefered stick on the Atari 800 computer.
  11. I posted a video of how I scored 48k. I don't do flips, I do multiple Tabletops. (Post 122 on page 5) As for Jason, he did 2x / 3x flips and completed the level without crashing, which is worth a 10,000 bonus. Hi, yeah after several attempts i got the timing on the landings right, so i was basically doing triple and double flips when i could (most pts) plus getting all the flags. I was getting around 35,000 to 40,000 pts with crashing several times, so i wanted the bonus to crack the 50,000 mark. Cheers, Jason.
  12. Perhaps try clearing your browser cache (or use a different browser that wouldn't have the same cache) California Games (BMX) 52,080 - Jason_Atari 49,380 - CapitanClassic 36,710 - S.BAZ 32,660 - StanJr 31,560 - JacobZu7zu7 26,760 - Scrabbler15 25,570- karokoenig 23,560 - Gray 23,160 - Vocelli 22,400 - GornThrifting 21,520 - Mister-VCS 20,520 - classicgamer_27330 18,790 - LidLikesIntellivision 18,770 - roadrunner 17,140 - LarcenTyler 10,790 - NIKON
  13. Yeah, the 100 points you get for finishing first is inconsequential to the points from the obstacles. I have been going slowly to try to figure out exactly what speed to leave the ramp to hit the floating platforms (25 points), and floating 50 points. You also get 5 boings for bouncing on your wheels.
  14. Motor Rodeo - 1280 The California Games (BMX) video isn't better than my best run, but it is better than the previous videos I uploaded. I don't think I can beat 49k. It is too difficult to not make any mistakes and score that bonus 10k points.
  15. I think this is close, if not the best run possible (with some errors). If I can complete a run without falling I should score over 60k. California Games (BMX) - 49,380
  16. From the album: Atari 2600 High Score Club

This is the best jumping run I could find. If I can complete it without crashing, I should score over 60k
  17. I would say no. The HSC has players from all around the world, I am sure someone is in a location that only has PAL TVs. It would be a shame to force them to play it on emulators if they have the real hardware. There is a difference of course, PAL plays 17% slower. For most human reaction times, that isn't going to make Mich of a difference (I think). I don't know how Stella handles playing PAL versus NTSC though. Motor Rodeo is PAL, so does it update my monitor at 50 Hz, or does it use the 60Hz global frame rate? (These emulators have to emulate the TV for the 2600, so I think it is the former 50hz speed)
  18. If you fly over a ramp, you get the 'ding' regardless of whether you launched off of it. I don't know if the same is true of pipes (I still haven't tested that theory at super speed)
  19. Did you look at my video? Do you have the same path as the shortest path? (I have given some consideration to seeing of it makes semse to go straight for the truck, and use the speed boost through the entire course. BTW, you need not wait at the stop to get the boost from the truck. You can get a boost anywhere along the sidewalk if your feet or wheels are on the first 1-4 pixels of the sidewalk.
