Very big of you bro! Seriously! +10 respect.

It wasn't clear to me at the time of purchase that this was the case. The seller told me it worked like the Wii. Before the WiiU arrived I knew nothing of Nintendo network ids. The content didn't work that way on the original Wii. I had no reason not to trust the seller as they were in good standing here on AA and had been an active member for over 5 years. Once the WiiU arrived and I created my own account, then I realized the problem and informed the seller. The seller never agreed with my assessment and basically treated me like I was an idiot. I'm over it now. But just thought I should warn others.

Fair question. One I think Mike is likely pondering himself. In that vein I'll answer. Things were said at and about the very community he hopes to market a future product to. Kevtris is not some random dude. He's a homebrewer and hardware hacker himself. I own a USB copy NES he designed! It's worked flawlessly the entire time I've had it. I played his ColecoVision game "Kevtris" just yesterday. Would love to have that on a cart. He's one of the very people these consoles are meant to inspire and empower. He voiced some concerns (in a pretty open, well articulated, and non trolling fashion) and they gave him the boot. Publicly. Pat is not some random YouTube commenter. He's been around and part of the online retro game scene for over a decade. If they aren't going to respect guys like that we'd be fools to believe they'll respect the rest of us. At this point they need to double down on humility. They need to earn our trust back. Best way to do that? Kill us with kindness and respect. Yes, even if they think we don't deserve it. The trolls will keep trolling but it will be easier to spot them among the rest of the people just wanting clarity. They should not be feeding the trolls or becoming trolls themselves. Not if they want to be viewed as a legitimate enterprise. -

Just made a short Blaster Master inspired level. 5FB7-0000-0082-0090 I'm not completely happy with it so gimme some feedback folks and I'll work it into v2. Also played some more levels from this topic. Your Donkey Kong levels are pretty good. My only (constructive) feedback is that I think the ass end of pipes should always be covered by something. Makes it look more legit. I'd recommend shortening those pipes by one block then moving them down and putting blocks or ground to cover the ass ends. That said, truly inspired level designs man! -

I didn't pretend to speak as anybody. I clearly stated I am not associated with them. Like you they probably don't feel any apology is necessary. The purpose of my post was to show them the apology myself and other community members feel is due and why. In effect I wrote the apology I want to hear and gave them license to use it if they choose. -

Since they are in listening mode now I thought I would help them out by writing their community apology for them. This is not an official statement from the RVGS team (but in my opinion something like it should be). Here's the statement I think needs to be publicly delivered as a first important step in making things right with the world again. If they wish to use it in whole or in part they may freely do so. --------- RVGS Copy-Paste BEGIN HERE ---------- Folks, a lot has happened in just one week. All we ever really wanted was to make a new old school console. Founded on the same core principles as a lot of the old systems you already love. We've since learned what seems like a simple idea is actually quite complicated. But it's not impossible. It requires careful planning, laser focus, and the proper mix of talented individuals. We honestly thought we had all that. Clearly, we didn't. While we take some time to reflect on the road that got us here I want to also make a few things right. I apologize to the retro community for overhyping this project early on. I was just trying to give it the momentum I thought it needed to push through to completion. I want to apologize to Kevtris. Your public forum comments caught us totally off guard. In hindsight we should have included you more and treated you more like a key partner and less like an interchangeable vendor. I want to apologize to Pat, Ian, and the other media outlets I criticized simply because they dared to point out our vision for the product didn't quite match up to the resources and information that we ourselves were willing to put forth to back up our claims. It was hard to hear after all the time and energy we've sank into the project to date. We've learned a lot. Mostly that we need a bit more humility and proof than "trust us" and possibilities. Especially if we're asking you the community to believe in our project enough to front load the cost and risk of making them a reality. I sincerely hope to address you all again in the future with happier news and a functional prototype that shows you our vision in action and sparks your own imagination to wonder at the other possibilities. --------- RVGS Copy-Paste END HERE ---------- -

I don't want to see an ambush. I just want to see an open and frank discussion about what the final specs and feature set are for these systems they want us to front load $300+ for. -

Me and some of the folks from here and VGCollect talked about the Retro today on our live hangout Retro Reload. It won't be news to anyone that's been commenting/following along here, but I think it's a decent summary of what's going on and the perspectives from both sides. My open invite to the RVGS folks to come on and say their peice still stands. Plus at the very end you can see me get my ass handed to me by a fellow forum members Mario Maker level. -
Game Gear, ColecoVision, and 7800 from the original carts would be awesome. My systems have been restored by me to the point where I hope they got 10 years more life. But time is a fickle fickle mistress.

I'd love that too. At present though Nintendo has gone on record saying they think it'd be too tough to tackle right now. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/06/super_mario_maker_producer_tells_fans_not_to_expect_zelda_maker_any_time_soon -

I hear ya. I think in the long run it will be a good thing because there are some crappy levels out there right now. I'm not even talking auto play. I mean: Start, mushroom, flagpole. I think limiting those folks to 10 uploads until they make something more worth playing is a smart move. The downside is obviously our existing uploads that may already be masses worthy need to wait for their audience to find them before we can upload more. If it makes you feel any better it seems like the key is to upload lots of (enjoyable) levels up to your max early on. You can also delete or replace levels you have previously uploaded with better versions and you keep all the stars you've gotten even after you've removed the level. I uploaded 5 and my son uploaded five. So we were maxed on uploads until this weekend. But with 10 levels in the can each one only needs 5 stars to get to 50. It's only taken us a week to get 71 stars! My son and I have played most of the levels posted here so far and left comments and stars. stardust your levels are next! Also post your levels in the SMM thread on vgcollect! http://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,6488.0.html It's all about exposure. Anyone know other places to post our levels? -

You are in luck my friend! Mario v.s. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars for the WiiU already lets you make your own Donkey Kong levels from scratch and share them online. I hope a Metriod Maker is next. Xenomorpher, I don't think the levels are very big you should be fine. That said I'll check later tonight. I've made and saved about 40 levels -

Glad you liked them. I finally got 50 stars so I can upload more levels. My latest is a new SMB 3 themed level: 141F-0000-0055-48E1 It's my longest level so far. Like my others it focuses on light challenge with a primary focus on fun and secret paths. I'll give your levels a try today. If you like mine a lot feel free to share the codes on other social media sites. I plan to share all my favorites on my Retro Reload live hangout this Tuesday. -
