  1. So I got my chip today....installed it (whew!) and turn on the system and ....it works, THANK GOD! (I am not a modder) Anyway, there do seem to be a couple minor issues: 1.) That cable is SQUEEZED into the shielding and my TI looks bloated now....therefore the cart slot doesn't line up quite right and the dust door never closes (I'm sure something is holding the spring open) 2.) Every cart I have tried works now EXCEPT my 2.7 cart from Tony. (I did have some issues with this before running XB slow and having to reboot a couple times before it would start) 3.) Even though I still have my audio cable plugged into the TV, it is reading the VGA signal and not the A/V component, so I have no sound. 4.) I didn't mess with the jumpers.... Do I do anything special to turn 80 column mode on? Any help/advice would be wonderful!! Thank you
  2. So my next upgrade plan is to buy one of destroyer's awesome sounding SID cards for the TI-99. I was wondering if there are games that take advantage of this or maybe even a game list somewhere? ...sorry if this is on the forum already somewhere :\
  3. wow I am stupid... here I am trying function F or control F or Shift Function F....all I had to do was type.. F Either way when I am prompted for the file I still get some error, maybe I am still doing something wrong, can you start from the beginning please?
  4. Can we back up a step? I am at the EA menu.....do I push 1-5?
  5. Another dumb question: How do I open a file and view/edit it's contents? Even a text file? So BITD I would just type EDIT into DOS and then ALT would get me to the menu etc etc. I know this isn't an IBM clone, so how do I open a file from either the shell (XB?) or from TI Writer.... or anything? I just want to view some README files and also perhaps edit some program CONFIG files. I have the TI writer overlays, but they don't say anything about how to actually open the files. I have Tony's XB cart, plus a normal EA cart and I bunch of other stuff... Thanks to you all!
  6. Awesome!! ...so dialout works now! (is there something magical about connecting to a board via telnet, using dialout to connect to the hidden reef, downloading a file and then using Tony's cart to run unarchiver and extract the file to DSK2?) This is all done with ONLY a TI. ha! maybe I am the only dinosaur out there still trying to eliminate the PC from the equation but yes sir it works like a charm! Unfortunately I cannot access the games for some reason? Option 4 (or5) do not even work for some reason? ....if I could have access to LORD that would be super sweet and if I could have access to LORD and MajorMUD that would be epic.
  7. Awesome! I have just purchased one. I assume all I need is a male to male VGA cable and I am good to go?
  8. Does this mean you can change the CRU without any soldering?
  9. Haha yea! I am loving the Empire game .... Also tried some MajorMUD on Greg's board, but daaaaang that game is hard! What do I have to do to get access to LORD?
  10. Is there any reason to run two rs232 cards? Printer and modem hooked up simultaneously?
  11. What is the difference between the TI, Myarc and Corcomp cards? Is one more desirable than the others? Better performance? More functions? All the same?
  12. Chris Schneider graciously transferred a TELCO archive to me this morning with a direct TI to TI connection via telnet. Extracted and works like a charm! Wahooo ANSI (or high ascii rather) ... THANKS MAN!!
  13. Kind of ridiculous with everyone switching to SD cards for hard drives and stuff, but.... I was just curious..? How difficult would it be to connect this monster to the TI? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shugart-8-DS-DD-Floppy-Drive-model-850-motor-tested-good-input-230VAC-/200944536116?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ec93a4a34
  14. Do you know if it is possible to run z-term from sssd? I downloaded both archived files from heatwave, but they seemed too large to extract on my 90k disks.
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEn07uDk-_I&feature=youtu.be I know this video is a year old now... and on the old firmware, but are these graphics not AMAZING for the TI? ....it looks like a SNES/Genesis game.
  16. Okay, I believe I have done this. Now what? I have TELCO.dsk I know (maybe?) that TI doesn't use file extensions. I guess I am not sure what to do if what I have done so far is correct?

  18. Ironically I have tried transferring with MFM with headers...and without.... I must be doing something wrong.
  19. I connected to the keep with fast term last night I have the updated ip written down in my TI desk drawer. Pretty sweet MUD! Didn't get a chance to explore the board much yet, but I am looking forward to it!
  20. I was/am a member of one yahoo group for about a year before joining the fun here at atariage. I am trying not to post this as a slam, but I have done 10X more for my TI once I started lurking and finally joined in the discussion here. Pretty much the only thing I ever see up on the yahoo group is a call for Jim Peterson votes. Kind of sad, but also kind of good to have everyone centralized. I think (as many have said already), that the yahoo groups forum interface is very antiquated. Is that ironic to post on forum regarding 30 year old computer technology? ... either way I don't think it hurts anything to be a member of all.
  21. That is awesome ...so for a dummy like me: Do you even have to plug it in to the TI or just crank up the volume?
  22. Dumb question: if I were to purchase a board tomorrow would it have this current firmware update running?
  23. That's awesome that with a tape player you can share files between a PC and the TI! ...guess I never even thought about it, fricken so much awesome!!
  24. Just for giggles I extracted the files on the PC, transferred them all one at a time to the TI while renaming them with > and / ..... still won't work. I'm calling it.
