Serial # 0005 arrived today. The red light is already blinking away -- Jim you are the MAN!
Now.. what would a post be form me without a dumb question or two:
1.) I noticed two jumpers (J1 and J2) which each have three pins. These seem to be jumpered on the 512K side. Do I want to move this to 2048 side on one or both or?
2.) Any recommendations on awesome stuff to do???

To those who have had browser problems, try the following, which should get round a problem when the UDS-10 is sitting behind some firewalls:
From your PC, telnet to your UDS-10 to get to the setup menu. Select option 1 (Channel 1), and press <Return> to get to the "Auto increment source port" option. This should be N - change it to Y. Keep pressing <Return> then save and exit.
Then try the browser again. Let us know if there is any improvement. No promises.
Stuart.
Brilliant! ...I thought about adding screen shots, but screw it. All three webpages on the FAVS file loaded fine! It makes so much sense when you look at the settings. 32K? full and bogged down? Maybe lets increment this? Man that is awesome! Just for good measure I connected to HeatWave BBS and everything worked fine. I didn't try a file download or upload, but everything loaded well and I responded to a couple of posts. NOW!!!! ....
... does anyone have a link to all of other awesome webpages available for SIB (Stuart's Internet Browser) ? I want to get down on some TI emailing and other stuff available (also dumb question I am sure there is an easy way to edit to FAVS?) ....also! ...What is the shortcut key to exit the program? (its awesome and all, but I need some play other things)-

Using SAMS has some challenges for a programmer. The availability issue may become smaller with initiatives like this, but there is still a huge difference between having a large contiguous memory space and having paged memory like SAMS. The most obvious use is as a 'RAM disk' (edit: by which I mean a buffer for files loaded from disk), which is what it has mostly been used for in the past. It's great that RXB has support for paged SAMS, but what would be really great is if it could use SAMS for stack space. High level languages have the possibility of adding an abstraction layer in front of the paged memory so it appears to be contiguous. This is more difficult from assembly without suffering a relatively large performance loss. I would like to write an RPG that would use SAMS for storing a huge world, but because of the challenges this have never left the idea stage.
A rasmus RPG?? +1 million!

The bit about the arrow keys sounds a bit worrying. Hopefully will have an update later this week.
Stuart.
No rush my friend. Just an update. I did try loading a different webpage (from the FAVS) and the same error (essentially). After messing around with the keyboard the F key appears to the be the key that moves my cursor RIGHT once the wonky arrow key problem happens. This means I am an idiot and was using the TI arrow keys ALL ALONG when they have been re-keyed.
Keep up the good work. I don't want to end every post on a negative. This is an amazing piece of software and I am sure the community at large is very appreciative. I know I am.

I'm not planning on touching (or even looking too closely at) XB27S. Nor did I mention modifying it anywhere in my post; I said it was having problems coexisting with a certain hardware setup and I had to discontinue using it for the time being.
Gazoo did some very unholy things with the powerup hooks, and they conflict with IM's 9640MENU *if* 9640MENU is also called via a powerup hook (for instance, from a Horizon RAMdisk).
I can't speak for the intentions of others; I merely "fixed" Gazoo's XB27/XB256/XB-TML image (aka "Extended BASIC Fun") so that it acted like a real UberGROM cartridge. "Real" UberGROM, in this case, means "using Tursi's released UberGROM AVR code". So the recovery-via-spacebar is back, as well as any fixes to the GROM emulation that Tursi made after Gazoo released the initial image. It can now be built the way at least one of the designers of the UberGROM intended: on real hardware, using gromcfg.
I expect that three, maybe four people use this image, no code changes were made, and therefore no regression should have occurred.
XB27S IMO is great for people who want damned near everything on a single cartridge, and I used it daily myself until it became untenable. We're working through the issues, and I may return to XB27S if/when they are resolved. For the time being, I'm using the other XB compilation. I saw that it didn't conform to the recommended UberGROM setup, I fixed it, it worked, I published it, that's the end of it. Use it or no; your choice.
Your takeaway from this thould be "XB27S is incompatible with certain software or hardware in certain situations". If you're an affected user, you'd know it by now. If you're not affected, don't worry about it.
Wow so I was wondering WHY I could not get DSK1.LOADLEG to load Legends (TI RPG) from BOOT, but when I simply go into XB 2.7 prompt, type in: OLD DSK1.LOADLEG and then RUN it works just fine. But when I go into BOOT and make option C say DSK1.LOADLEG my screen goes crazy and it shows a bunch of random colors and characters and then freezes. I also tried using X DSK1.LOADLEG from Omega's guide, but this must be for an older version of BOOT that I am using. I am also running BOOT off of my Horizon RAMdisk. I assume you just answered my questions without even asking it? ...but I must ask I suppose, is there anyway for me to get around this?

I wish I could be more helpful...
So I updated TIMXT so that I am using Flow 00 and ConnectMode D4 all the time on my lantronix.
Downloaded your newest version in your link and loaded in with xb2.7 option 4, internet, rsc1.
Used Back and then I and VIOLA! ...the Favorites (Favourites rather...) loaded!
Use the arrow keys over to option 1 and hit enter and this..
After this I tried loading back to the favorites with 'I' and it did load, but the arrow keys were kind of wonky. The right key didn't work at all and the down arrow key moved the cursor down/left at the same time. At any rate I was able to try the second link and third link and I just get a 'Download Web Page -- Error -- Retrying...' forever. The light is stuck on my 32k card, but it doesn't blink occasionally on the RS232, but mostly solid on there as well.
...wish I had better news, sorry. Maybe someone can help me with what I am doing wrong?

I hope these aren't sold out already? Please put me down if not sold out. I can send the PayPal money friends and family later this evening...

These are the settings I use for BOTH Stuart's Browser & TIMXT...

Of course you'll have to use a new version of TIMXT, the one that identifies on boot up like this...

Of course when using the settings, you'll have to DIAL DIFFERENTLY than before...

Notice A & E are the 'old way' using the "Hayes Compatible" commands, B & F is the new way... if you want to use the same settings as the browser and not have to mess with switching back and forth.
Then I have two questions: Can I get the new(est) version of TIMXT from you please? (sub question: can I make and save macros?)
Are you using version 9.1 of Stuart's IB?
-
I am having the same issue as Chris. I can connect to BBS' via telnet, but when I load the INTERNET and RSC1 I cannot load a web page.
Question: According to Stuart's website Flow should be 00 and not 02, and connect mode should be D4 and not D6. If I change these settings to match Stuart's recommendation will TIMXT still work?
EDIT:
Also when I do not load a webpage, but hit 'I' on the main screen, my system freezes and I have to do a hard reset. I have power cycle the whole system. I have FAVS and INTERNET loaded on DSK2. Does this make a difference? The name of the disk is BROWSER, but it seems when I hit 'I' to look for favorites DSK1 runs briefly, then DSK2, then CRASH! -- it freezes.

I started this thread Jan 1st, 2016....
Just want to give a huge shout out to everyone. Got the splitter in from china today. After a LOT of messing around I finally determined the back metal housing had scraped off the plastic from the edge connector adapter ribbon cable and was causing a short on the drive. Got the ramDISK successfully moved (Chris you are the man!) so I had space to move the disk controller to slot 7 and then feed the splitter cable through the gap in the back of the PEB.
The TI is the bane of my existence at times, but at times like this it is so awesome. 180K drive and 3.5" media to boot. Thanks again to EVERYONE, a ton of you have helped me with this project alone. I know it will never look as good as Omega's, but here ya go.... (also the most important tool is in the middle of the shot)
EDIT: Sorry for the poor image quality, that is DSK2 successfully reading!-

So far I have just purchased the 4-pin molex splitter for the PEB. It is on it's way from China, so who knows when it will arrive. I think I ordered it a weekish? ago.
Thanks for all of the awesome ideas, there are truly a ton of routes I didn't even think of. Assuming the molex splitter works, I will most likely buy an extender (another buck?) from China.
If the splitter doesn't work (for some reason? ...I seem to be cursed), then I will look at some of those other good power cables. Also I think I might need to look into them in the future anyway if I am going to get an emulated floppy drive.
I also still have a half height 5.25" floppy that was recommended somewhere in this thread that I still haven't tried to hook back up (after wanting to blow up my TI in frustration), but I think at some point since I will give it another go and maybe take it nice and slow?
I will certainly update once the splitter comes from China

Before I buy this how do you get the splitter out of the peb? Does the disk controller have to be in slot 8? It looks like it would block anything I tried to wire out of the disk bay.
-
I see splitters on eBay. I'll buy an extender too.
-
I'll take anything at this point... Just depressing seeing this pile of stuff in the corner of the room that I can't use. Also I did already buy the small to large 4 pin adapter, but like I said I would use anything at this point.... Could you link me to this Y adapter? It would have to be somehow lengthy on the end that connects to the external drive

Okay worst eBay transaction ever. I am stuck with the drive enclosure, but not a working power supply. Would anyone be able to help me find the correct lower supply like Omega has?

So I have come to the conclusion that it is in fact NOT the two prong power extension cable. I checked about every cable like this in my house and they are all 125V 7A. When just hooked up alone the drive enclosure light is solid green and the drive light is solid green. As soon as I turn on my PEB or TI console however the green light starts to flash and I can hear the disk drive start and stop repeatedly. It is being turned off/on/off/on/off/on/etc. Any ideas what is going on? Or better yet what can I do to fix it??
So after some more digging around on the internet it appears the guy sent me the WRONG POWER SUPPLY!!! Argh this is the worst eBay seller, how aggravating! No wonder the stupid thing has power issues! It outputs different V & A than the correct one (also has two extra pins). I sent the guy a message, even though it was a nightmare to get a non-broken case from him in the first place. Aaaand around we go again!

Do me a super duper huge favor? Look on your two hole plug that goes into the brick and flip it over and tell me what the volt and amp numbers are on it? Should be right on the stub with the holes. End of the cable looks like a figure 8 or infinity.Nope, it's solid as a rock.
I did learn a valuable lesson though... TURN IT ON A F T E R POWERING THE P-BOX. I recently turned it on first and FUBAR'ed my main ,hfe file on the HxC. I lost a lot of stuff.

-
The only other thing I can think of is here is the branded power brick that came with the SyQuest disk enclosure. However the two prong cable that plugs into the brick says 10A 125V. Omega does the light on your power brick pulsate when it is hooked up? ....mine doesn't at first but then the light starts to fade and then go bright.... fade and then go bright....

.
which disk controller do you have ? is it 80-track capable ?
Disk drive worked perfectly fine when I hooked it up to the TI power supply. See the first picture? Everything worked perfectly as DSK2.

So I got the disk case from Omega's link...
I got the 3.5 to 5.25" conversion kit from Ksarul's link...
I got some NOS 720k non HD floppys unopened from eBay...
I plugged everything in, removed my large full size DSK2 enclosure, hooked up the new drive..... and it doesn't work

(here is where you guys should be proud of me) ....so instead of exploding in typical fashion, I decided I would systematically change components on the drive until I got it to work. To make a LOOOOONG story short (yes I tried many many many thing, and amazing didn't smash anything...) I finally got the disk drive to work! ...sort of...
I could only get the drive to read (and as DSK2 as you wonderful people correctly directed me that since this drive has no jumpers it is jumpered as B) when hooked up to my TI power supply.
Here are some photos... You can see the SyQuest EZDrive enclosure only has 2 of the 4 pins in the molex connect. Ironically I have TWO of these enclosures since the plastic came broken on the first one so I checked the spare and it also only has 2 pins... You can see in the pictures that when I hooked the drive up to the actual TI power supply it worked fine. I formatted my first disk ever to 180k (only made it up to 718, but hey..)
So...mighty people of the TI forums, I beg your help! ....what do I do now???
-
It looks like IEC still has these too (like Schmitzi's first picture). . .although they are slightly more expensive, or the one that you already found Budz. Both are cheaper direct from the source.
This is awesome. I didn't even think about the fact that the 4-pin molex would be too big for the power on the 3.5" drive. I am going to order this right now. Also, the gent I ordered the case from sent me a replacement so we are right on track.
Since I have an unmodified disk controller, which diskettes should I but then? Any links would be very much appreciated

So... Has anyone tested this with TIMXT or Stuarts IB? I am freezing my machine. It isn't locking up but with the BBS it loads about half the login page and stops. With SIB I'm having to reload pages and eventually nothing will load. Not sure if the ram expansion card is correlated, I'll try resetting my crappy cable modem and try again.
