<< Here >> is one thread on the EZ-135 case.
There are three EMPTY cases currently being sold on Ebay << HERE >> at a decent price. They apparently come with a power supply as well. They look like they need to be cleaned up a bit though.

Gazoo was the guy that first told me about them, they are PERFECT for an external 3.5" drive.
Snagged one, thanks! ... so awesome slideshow (didn't notice that before on my phone) ... I have the drive you recommended and the enclosure. Now how do I connect my DSK2 edge connector to it?

-
Hmmm locked up my ti uploading a file..... First file I uploaded seemed to work fine? You might want to delete risk since I don't think the upload ever finished.
-
Awesome! Thank you very much kind sir.
-
Omega do you have a link to your 3.5" external enclosure? I thought it was in this thread, but perhaps I am just blind...?
-
Nice link Rasmus. Mike Kennedy should take note ..
-
My plan is to transfer the files to DSK5 which is my horizon ramdisk. I have a standard ti disk controller. Will this be a problem ?
-
Defaulted to RS232/1 (1300) and 19.2. File transfers still need some timeout functionality so be cautious.
Do not activate the log buffer.

If you try it, share some feedback here or via PM please.
F18A only at this time. I will work on activating the V9938 code later.
TIFILES format:
TIMXT.zipThank you!!!!

Okay dumb question time:
I see the link for Disk Image file on Stuart's website. Normally when I download a .zip then I open ti99dir and convert the v9t9 files to TI files (and transfer blah blah) and done! ...However, when I extract the zip file it gives me a file Internet Browser V9.tidsk
What do I do to this file to get it over to the TI? I know how to do the transfer using my PC and TIMXT, but do I need to convert the file or rename it or anything with ti99dir or..?
EDIT: I can't spell extract (extra)

Super awesome! ...where can I get a copy?

Great listen!

Thank you!!
sparkdrummer.. I finally got a chance to grab this, just loaded it up on my RAMdisk on the real deal!
You are the man! ..you made a 3 year old (and a 34 year old) pretty happy thank you so much again!

This might not be the right place for this, but here goes...
I installed BOOT & BOOU aka the 9640 Menu files on my ram disk. Everything seems to work okay, but I also have installed some of Rasmus' awesome games (Scramble, and Road Hunter. When I run these programs and then go back to the BOOT menu everything is scrambled (no pun intended). I have no idea if the versions of these programs I am running are the most up to date. I can say for sure that the 'B' on the BOOT program menu looks like this: B' as opposed to A C D, etc., the single quote mark is after it.
Are there newer versions of these programs I should have installed? Does anyone else experience any of these problems?
I am using XB 2.7 to run a LOAD to DSK5.BOOT as opposed to using the RAMDISK functionality of a CALL to begin on boot up.
I know Omega put a great list together of all the 80 column f18a programs in one thread, but are there links to all this stuff? (the newest versions?)
All programs seem to run fine (currently menued PALEA5, TIMXT, Scramble, Road Hunter, Legends (running from DSK1 uggghhh I will try to finish this game a third time and start from the beginning..again). Anyone know if there is a way that I can get a .RPK fill to my ramdisk? I would love to have Early Learning Fun on my RAMDISK instead of cart). Any suggestions for other MUST HAVE programs? I have a clock,f18a,32k, etc. so I should be able to run just about everything?)
Sorry this isn't organized, but if you want to quote(or not) and answer any questions it would be greatly appreciated.

It's alive! ...huge shout out to the amazing Chris Schneider for helping me set up the card without any frustration or blowing things up at all! You are man!
...now what should I fill up my 384k with..?
Maybe everything from Omega's 80col thread..?
Any other suggestions/must haves for the ram disk? ...also the gent I bought this from sent me a whole bag full of ram chips and said it was upgradable to 1 meg. That sound like a good idea sometime in the future?

Just my opinion, but the chip is socketed so you could plug a jet engine in and it would still be a ti-99/4a with an updated 'X' to me
Not quite. The F18A truly is a leap forward in the TI's capabilities from a graphics as well as computational (GPU) standpoint. This is different from adding some esoteric storage device which does not change the base console's capabilities. Part of the fun of using a vintage computer is to try to push it to its limits in ways perhaps never intended, and using the F18A somewhat feels like cheating a bit. Let be clear however and state that taking advantage of the F18A from a programming standpoint is by no means a walk in the park and requires substantial skill. But in the end, it's just not a TI...

Just stop now... You said my opinion is not my opinion to me

If I look back at my old posts I an kind of a purist and at one time considered setting up two ti machines, but in the end I decided against it.
I don't have any disk drive upgrades, no cf7s, no hdx, no nanopeb, no keyboard mods... I even stopped using my xb2.7 cart in lieu of a navarone expander and three stock carts. But I just couldn't ignore all of the amazing things 80 column and better sprite patterns allowed from just upgrading the vdp
Again, only my opinion, but I would argue that soldering different chips into your disk controller to make it DD (just one example) is more of a permanent change to the TI than dropping in a literal plug and play video chip. I like OLD CS1s rebadging addition and ultimately I can still play ToD, Legends and parsec right along with super amazing version of scramble and see 80 column BBS displayed in ANSI .
Also I don't want to come off as some purist elitist .... If someone wants to only run the TI via emulation on their phone or any other of the almost countless iterations / configurations of the TI-99/4a I think that is just one of the many things that makes this machine great. With all of the people on this forum I wonder if any two machines are set up the same?

Thank you all for the words of wisdom. My TI is in fine condition, no intentional damage was done to it. I cannot fit my old DSK2 perfectly back in the enclosure, but I am sure I can work around that if I decide to keep it... If nothing else it is nice for making backup disks.
Of course not even a day after posting my *ahem* troubles my daughter forced me to play some TI TigerCub games with her, so my hiatus (read: me being a spaz...sorry) didn't last very long.
Anyway... the reason for this post.... I just bought this thing (http://www.ebay.com/itm/181983442646?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT ) in the hopes that with it I won't need a bigger disk drive? I can just transfer the files to this thing and it will work like a big 384K (128k x 3 I assume?) disk drive?
Thoughts? Did I just waste $200 bucks? ...I'll try not to be such a spaz, sorry again and thanks for all your advice again.

Somehow I destroyed my legends save game... Again... After like a year and half.... So pissed I'm ready to just smash the shit out of the whole ti and fucking throw it out the window right now. I just need to walk away from it and come back fresh and try again.

How about this bad boy? Looks like it's full height?
I believe it is 360k?
-
<< CLICK HERE >> then page down to page 15 of the PDF also listed as 112.
You'll probably need to unsolder the teeny tiny little jumper and move it,
....I cant figure out what this means. Screw it, I am buying a different drive.

Quick update...
I tried a diskette with the notch on the side covered (copy protection?) and it worked? ...It read the catalog of the diskette out on screen.
Then I tried another diskette with the notch covered and it said diskette not initialized (but I know there are files on it) ..?
Sorry for all the dumb updates..
So I must need to be using Double sided disks or something? Or maybe double density?

So minor update...
Bought that case (thanks Omega) ... came broken....ugghhhh still waiting to see if seller will send a replacement or get a refund...
But! ... possible new plan, maybe I'll mount that 3.5" in my PEB? Does anyone know if this piece can be found for cheaper?

I couldn't find any on ebay really, but I might not be searching the best terms? ...also...
Thinking about a Lotharex HxC argghhh! the modern era! Anyway... would people recommend the F rev of this or maybe the GoTek instead? I am a complete n()()B so I am assuming the lotharek product is the way to go...
Commentary on any of the above?
