Comparison of TI-99/x and Geneve 9640 emulators
globeron replied to globeron's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
thank you! funny all the Java. Yesterday coincidentally had a reunion with all the Sun Microsystems Team from Singapore and Bangkok. Thailand from 15 years ago. I should know the difference but was doing other networking And security business. Java script for browsers. I remember J2se J2me J2ee runtime etc. For v9T9j Ed told me it is the same code both for Unix and windows I am not aware of without j. Probably missed it. I do use ti6.0 for dos -
I just see you are in Sweden. My gut feel is the pal modular I had the same thing here but had two here so could compare. But suddenly both worked again. Not sure which pin are broken? Joystick port. Cassette port I o port. Module port. Video din port?

Are you based in Europe? 6 pin is EU Might be Pal modulator or check the.coax cable I had some issues with those. Have you opened the pal modulator? I removed the metal plate covering the channel selector do you.see any light blue or title screen related info on.the tv or lcd

How to print from a TI emulator via RS232 to text or PDF ?
globeron replied to globeron's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
I tried MAME, but got the Direct x errors (similar like other people do if you search in google), I need to look into it again what is causing it. -
Check the TV channel (Channel 36, or check other channels, around 595 MHz ?) Is it an European Console? (Din-plug has 6 pins in total?) Maybe check the PAL-modulator? https://www.facebook.com/groups/2209774843/10153007017404844/ http://www.ti99.com/ti99r1.htm (in the metal box, you can change the frequencies, be very careful, as the black item (tuner) can break easily) and then maybe check other frequencies on the TV, maybe use fine-tuning ?) If it is an USA console (DIN 5 pins), then better get a cable with composite connectors

Not sure if "blizzardworld1" (JT) at yahoo groups can help ? (it is a bit difficult to find in yahoo groups, but I found it back:) I assume P-code Boxes = PEB Box (and not the UCSD P-code card) ? https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/TI99-4A/conversations/topics/87104;_ylc=X3oDMTJyMm5jb2x2BF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzE0OTkwNzcEZ3Jwc3BJZAMxNzA1MDA3NzA5BG1zZ0lkAzg3MTA0BHNlYwNkbXNnBHNsawN2bXNnBHN0aW1lAzE0MzI0NTY3NDc- Here's what is in my "Ti 99 / Geneve Room" : -- : 1 Ti99/4a Beige Computer Console 1 Ti99/4a Black/Silver Computer Console (just for a change-of-pace) 200 (Yes...TWO HUNDRED)... P-code Boxes...that way I would never have to change a fuse for the rest-of-eternity Every "Card" ever designed for the P-code Box (including Geneve Card, 4 Different DD/DS cards (CC, Myarc, BwG , and, an original Ti FDC with a "heavenly design" enhancement that should have been made BEFORE 1983 in the first place.) 1 H/FDC 1 of EVERY Gram Device ever made for the Ti99/4a LOTS of RAMDISKS!!! 2 (Yes, TWO) RS232 cards (Ti, of course, so that I could do a HDX-"fix") on ONE with the ability to "talk" to the "other" in one of my many other P-code boxes. An ENTIRE "Radio Shack Store" Inventory , from the late-1970s - to the early-1980s ...merely for "parts" 1 of EVERY item in the "Heathkit/Zenith " Catalog from 1982 (once again, for "parts")....

How to print from a TI emulator via RS232 to text or PDF ?
globeron replied to globeron's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Okay will try it out (I am still reading the updated Classic99 manual and need to study the new XB256, and RXB built-in) so much things to do ... so less time! I do not understand how all you doing it to create all these good software and features it makes the TI look complete different and fun, I like the combination of emulators and the real TI, that works very well. -
Thank you! Story of the day my kid plays the Sony PS/4, but nothing beats a TI-99/4A (only the /4 are the same) ! Especially when it is wireless: PC + Classic99 + Rasmus' Jet Set Willy + Wireless Controllers + Keyboard + Mouse, all set ! and probably sitting on the couch all night, gee it is difficult. http://www.globeron.com/freedownload/services/TI99/JetSetWilly-Classic99-Wireless.jpg Well done, love it!
-
Yes they are, they are all in the Atari forums (today I coincidentally saw "Jet Set Willy" for TI-99/4A, amazing job by Rasmus) I have all the .dsk formats in a single location and can share it, but not without permission of Rasmus, maybe he has them at a central location (latest versions!)

Matrix example (v9T9 latest version 2 July 2015), make sure that you use RS232PIO http://www.globeron.com/freedownload/services/TI99/V9T9-PrintTest-MatrixFormat.jpg -
How to print from a TI emulator via RS232 to text or PDF ?
globeron replied to globeron's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
I like it also that's the main purpose (to PDF listings)! but I was wondering what if there is a program that need to print to RS232 directly? (I cannot think of it 1-2-3, maybe text editors, Multiplan, TI-emulators ?) but I would not use the TI for these, but it might be that there are disks stored in these formats, then the output can be printed to PDF. e.g. I have databases in "PR-BASE" to be printed) Currently I see the support in TI-99/4w with TIPRINT (and the MESS/MAME, but did not try it out yet, I have Direct x problems with the latest MAME version) Also I also learnt for V9T9, you also can do a nice print (in the Linux version it is set already, but for the Windows version you need to select "RS232/PIO" then it outputs it in matrix format. btw.... if someone knows an easy way to copy and paste screenshots in this AtariAge forum, it makes it much easier to show examples!) -
I was thinking about to create a comparison table for TI-99/x and Geneve 9640 emulators (after doing the UCSD-P Code Pascal card test on the different systems), but today I saw coincidentally that there was one already, but it need to be updated and include JS99er.net >>> Spreadsheet produced by and courtesy of Eric Bray (November 14, 2012)! >>> http://ti99ers.org/viewpage.php?page_id=6 Here are some others Windows/Linux - MESS/QMC2 - /4, TI-99/4A, QI, EVPC, /8, Geneve 9640.and many more - MESS/QMC2 - TI-99/8 built-in OS - V9T9 - TI-99/4A - Classic99 - TI-99/4 and TI/99/4A or QI (V2.2) ==================================== Android ------- - Android99 (Android phone) Java ------- - JS99er.net (online / webbrowser) - Rasmus - JS99er (Java 1.5) offline - Rasmus Windows ------- - Ti99w (v4.4) - Fred - Win994a-TI-99/4A Simulator for Windows - Version 3.010 (2/Apr/2013) - PC99 Older emulators: (http://www.99er.net/emul.shtml) --------------- DOS (e.g. use "Dosbox 0.74") to run these systems --- PC99 - DOS/WIN V9T9 - DOS/WIN (TI6.0) TI-99/4A Emulator by Ton Brouwer (For the PC) Windows ------- ami99- WIN Apple MacinTosh --------------- MACV9T9- MAC Amiga --------------- TI4Amiga- Amiga TI-99/4A Emulator by Ton Brouwer, ported by Stefan Haubenthal (For the Amiga) Linux versions -------------- TI99SIM - Linux TI-99/4A Emulator by Ton Brouwer - Linux Tomy Tutor ---------- The Tutti Emulator by Cameron Kaiser (For the Commodore 64, or a C64 emulator)

Just in case my 3.5 year old kid read this forum over several years and he is wondering why there was no photo / video. Here is a thank you video to both Gazoo and Tursi of having XB2.7 and Speech built in! (play it with Classic99 emulator, select Others and load the module (= rendered video) http://www.globeron.com/freedownload/services/TI99/RikAndXB27Speech.zip

I also love this term "TI Acquisition Disorder" there are a few more (if not all on this forum and Facebook TI-99ers as well) For your TV-issue, get the composite cable so you can connect it to any LCD display (no modulator needed for the USA type of consoles, with 5-pin DIN connectors) Once your system has been expanded, use the XB Compiler (somewhere else on this forum to speed up TI BAS / XBAS to assembly speed !) (or a cheaper alternative is to use the emulators in the mean time: Classic99, js99er.net, V9T9 emulator, MAME/MESS + different TI consoles CC-40, TI-99/2, /4, /4A, /4A EVPC, /8, Geneva 9640 and a few more emulators as well Droid99 (android), js99 Java version, PC99. I also have an disorder first collect the real iron /4 volume slider, /4 no volume slider, /4A BlackMetallic, /4A Beige, /4A Beige QI and now starting to collect all the "TI-emulators", see the video: and on the forums are people collecting the Modules / Cartridges, Disks, Cassette Tapes, collecting TI websites and whatever exists for the TI (it is a full time job)

Hi Schmitzi, it is something similar I had as well, when copying all disks / transferring them to the PC. Every 7-10 disks, I had to clean the "head" of the disk drive with isopropyl alcohol pads then I could read the (same) disks again after that (per suggestion of my father) something like this I was using: http://i00.i.aliimg.com/img/pb/535/901/476/476901535_196.jpg (but you need to slide out the disk drives each time (discussion we had before on FaceBook): https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=366055860240737&set=p.366055860240737&type=1 Initially I though it had to do here with the weather 37+ degree celcius, high level of humidity, etc. (Coincidentally yesterday the seller in the Play Station shop mentioned some issues with PS/4 systems as well, need to do the eject using remote controller and not the button on the DVD-player as hands get dirty and affect the system, need to rebuild the database)....so we are not alone. What's in a name Sony PS/4 vs TI-99/4A both 4 (in China it means .... bad luck, something like "to die") https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numbers_in_Chinese_culture#Four Now luckily the TI put the 9 in it (twice!): The number 9 is a homophone of the word for "long lasting" (久). I think this community and the TI has proven that, it never stops :-)

Great stuff!

Hi Schmitzi these pictures remember me of a good time to synchronize on TI stuff and your hospitality and dedication to get things really good organized .... and my wife telling on the chat hey he has the same old computer :-)
-
I like your flex cable solution That big pre-decessor of the USB cable always sits it the way. I prefer option N - nano peb. As I do not have enough space for the real PEB at the moment and also need to learn how to get a silent fan like Schmitzi's setup. Or option E. Emulators it works fine and fast as well. But I am missing option S speech synthesizer or is it built in the PEB?

I am also wondering why it need to be on a phone? (then they can call someone if the game is not working? J/K). btw I also tried to write a basic program in Droid99, but I never could keys like FCTN S,D,E,X to work, etc. or other combinations and also sometimes it locks up (also tried to get XB to work, but did not work out, also it is too small for a smartphone to run a TI), I need a full keyboard (having said that...I have not tried a bluetooth keyboard with Droid99).
-
Currently I am using the PS3 type of joysticks (both cabled version from TopTech) and Wireless from Oker. (and yes...we miss the Munch-Man turns :-) I need to have my Suzo's The Arcade working on the PC). But what I also need is this: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/236035-ti-emulators-and-joysticks-can-we-program-buttons-for-redo-back-and-enter/ (With the wireless joysticks I can sit 4-5 meter from the screen (using MESS, Classic99, V9T9, etc.), but I need to have a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse next to me. it would be very nice to get these functions to work on the wireless controllers "REDO", "BACK", "ENTER", "1" and "2" (so that we do not have to switch to the keyboard each time, when playing ... - Blasto, Barrage, Munch-Man, Parsec and most games relying on these function keys, etc.

See Fred Kaals website build your own Joystick --> http://www.ti99-geek.nl/Projects/joystick/joystick.html (but I still stick to the Suzo "The Arcade" Joystick :-) P.S. I ordered this one so that I can use Atari joystick via an USB-interface on my PC. (but I think the owner is in the hospital and I still did not receive it yet). If I have an update I will let you know how this one works USB Joystickadpter - K - V2.1 http://www.sinchai.de/index.php?main_page=page&id=17&zenid=f8d76cfb86887684be7cba088af3cd64

(via Linkedin via a friend of me "Greg" in the wireless world got to know about this): Do we need a TI99 smart phone (see Commodore PET Smartphone) http://m.ign.com/articles/2015/07/15/commodore-smartphone-that-plays-commodore-64-games-is-coming Ofcourse there is a droid version already: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.emllabs.droid99&hl=en (and MAME for Droid) What do you think any market for it, I guess only for TI-Games?
