How to print from a TI emulator via RS232 to text or PDF ?
globeron replied to globeron's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Okay I will try that one out (next weekend) btw I get an error from the download pages to get TIIMAGE 2.0 -- http://www.mizapf.de/ti99/tiimagetool.zip and similar errors, via http://www.ninerpedia.org/index.php/TIImageTool and the atari-age forum posts. -
You know what is funny. Because of the TI- NTSC cable (Never The Same Colour). My Parsec gets all kind of colours already. The yellow is very colourful without programming. The emulators all have yellow only of course. Regarding speech i have done comparisons between different emulators as well

Suzo. The Arcade joysticks. Easy to hold and solid. Working after 30 years usage. I got 2nd handed as well all okay. Maybe not on ebay. Buy check marktplaats.nl not sure where else they sell it.

How to print from a TI emulator via RS232 to text or PDF ?

Does it mean that the virtual com ports sopution still will work? As it looks to the windows os as a real port and the software does not know?In device manager it shows COMx. But it is also possible to interface with a real.Com to virtual port. If so then printing to TI print is possible and then print to PDF. But what also would be good is to have Telco term program to work with RS232 interface. And probably Cfhdxs1 and hdx as well. -

Hi Tursi, sorry I need new glasses.. I did not realise that " " (quotes) had to be used. All working okay now and able to output the listing to text format! (and PS. thanks for the remark to use FIAD directories, as now I can save files as well :-)! (I am used to use only DOAD .DSK format so far). -

(Conclusion: in MESS I am not able to get it to work either) I just tried it also for the Serial interface option (but I used the Graphical GUI / QMC2), it adds a "-serial1 "D:\test.txt" at the end of the command line. I had to create a filename first, otherwise it could not be configured in QMC2 both LIST "RS232.BA=9600.DA=8.PA=N" (for -serial xxx.txt or LIST "PIO" (for the -parl xxxx.txt) are in a hang status like you mentioned. FCTN-4 (BREAK) will get out and back to Extended Basic. -
I was looking in all the retro computers on the MESS system, and came along this one: (re: portable / suitcase 1981) --> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aamber_Pegasus

0. I could not get com0com0 to work in Windows7 (driver signature issue, but also it did not list com ports) 1. Used this virtual modem I was able to http://www.virtual-null-modem.com/download/vnullmod20.exe (the trial version has limitation to 65K) It will generate 2x com ports (use "without handshaking") 2. With Fred Kaal TI994w map "RS232/1" to one of the com ports http://www.ti99-geek.nl/Projects/ti994w/ti994w.html 3. and Fred's TI-Print tool map to the other com port http://www.ti99-geek.nl/Projects/ti99print/ti99print.html and map also the printer (basically any Windows printer installed) 4. to print to PDF use http://www.cutepdf.com/ (to be selected in TI-Print) 5. Then it is straightfoward, e.g. in Extended Basic 100 REM TEST LIST "RS232.BA=9600.DA=8.PA=N" prints from TI-994/W to TI-PRINT (you see the listing in TIPRINT) then print from TI-PRINT to CUTEPDF. -

Hi, I have tried in Extended basic to load a program which lists okay or even tried a simple program 100 REM Test 120 REM test again SAVE DSK2.?W.TEST.TXT or SAVE DSK2.TEST.TXT but both methods give a "garbage" type of output -
Hi Ksarul, For Japan and TI-99/4A - could it be the "Tomy" Tutor version? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomy_Tutor) or something similar related to the Japanese manufacturer ? I had a similar question some time ago, because I also did not know that TI-99/4A was sold in Asia as well (but for sure in the region - in Australia / New Zealand, as I remember software coming from that area when I was living in Netherlands, something like "Wooloomoloo". Funnelweb-Farm is from Australia and I have more software. No clue how I got it that time). At the moment I am aware of 4x TI-99ers who are in APAC (Singapore, Thailand, China (temporary?), Brisbane/Australia) While a lot of "TI-chips" were manufactured in Asia (e.g. TMS9900 in Philippines or Singapore) I have not seen these devices in the region (e.g. when visiting computer shops/malls with 2nd hand equipment) Also I have been asking around, probably that time it was too expensive? I got to know via Klaus about the TIES group in Singapore: Klaus Lukaschek The Cyc DVD lists "TI Enthusiasts of Singapore (TIES) PO Box 698, Tiong Bahru, Singapore 9116 Honorary secretary: Colin Lee". Talking about strange characters in games, also note the "extra half PACMAN" at the left of the screen in TI-99/4A version :-)

Noted, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Same here. Had not tried a real com port on a pc. Only used a usb-serial. But i do not believe that is the issue as usb serial works on all type of devices. Ralf i tried that patched version as well.it did not work. I compared all setup with the real peb box where i was able to use cfhdxs1 to the PC. It is something todo with the rs232 chip 9902?

Hi Tursi. It was more a generic question to Rasmus that time as I was curious how to get these new games on the TI like Flappy Bird. I did not realise you also did porting, great explanation! Just thinking out loud maybe these programs can be converted using a collecovision to ti compiler or msx to ti compilers? If i remember correctly that was the purpose of msx to be interchangeable with other msx systems and they use also a same graphical chip? There were games like Pengu. Chucky Egg. But like you mentioned a Super Marios Brothers would be ultimate.

Look into the Suzo The Arcade joystick. Single button. very Solid. And has click system for direction. You need the adapter as it has atari d-9 plug.

Hi Gazoo/Tursi, just a quick message. 100 FOR TI=0 TO 99 110 CALL SAY("THANK YOU VERY MUCH ADDING SPEECH TO THE XB 27 MODULE !") 120 TI=TI+1 130 NEXT TI 140 PRINT "MY KID SAYS: WHAT IS THAT, THE MODULE IS TALKING?" (I have not tested if all the other functions work, sometimes the module blanked, but inserting it again fixed it, I need to test/check that another time) Edit --> Here is a thank you video to both Gazoo and Tursi of having XB2.7 and Speech built in! (play it with Classic99 emulator, select Others and load the module (= rendered video) http://www.globeron.com/freedownload/services/TI99/RikAndXB27Speech.zip

I did ask Rasmus some time ago how easy it would be to port. But i believe the source code is needed to do this. Was wondering if there are other ways eg. A layer between the other console game and TI platform. Or is mess a better solution to play the games on the real emulated console. The problem is learning all those new command structures to even start it :-)

The decathlon part 1 is there already in this forum called Sports. 100m run. Good to see it on TI-99/4a as in the days my friends had the atari 2600. But i suggest to play it with a suzo the arcade joystick as it is robust. But i am not looking fwd to do the marathon or 1600m without getting RSI. Most popular games both Roadhunter and TI-Scramble. Was hoping that it would be easy to clone games from other consoles easy to the TI using the same processors or newer video chip (eg from MSX) or would it be easier to use mess with the roms of the real device?
