  1. Hi Gazoo, Thank you for the quick replies and also the verification process / program! 1. You are right I forgot to test 1x more thing that is to try other consoles with the (in my view) "faulty" chip, but I am 99% sure it will be the same result. (as I did test it during the initial stages and also with the original PEB box, when we "lost" the CALL functions) I need to test that again with the latest software and hardware. I added the pictures of the different chips sets in the earlier message in the thread. 2. As a few people have this issue. we still need to find the root-cause (e.g. what is the common factor causing the red page during the GROM verification): a. chip issue? b. other hardware configuration issue?
  2. Okay it saved it actually, I had to turn off/on the computer. (then after Reload BOOT) it works I believe the benefit of BOOT is to load programs from special locations besides "DSKx" or like a Harddisk. The following is not a showstopper, but not sure if more people have the issue with the "C" option. (I am running the F18A mod, but I do not have this mod in my TI, maybe that's the problem ?) This still does not work: C - Extended Basic V2.7 - nothing happens (it stays in BOOT) Then via G C - TI Basic ---> sometimes hangs (all colour stripes, like a video mode), e.g. CAL (= incorrect function) C- Boot C- TI Basic (again in the menu) C - TI-Writer/Assembler - - works okay, can load an assembler program C- TI Basic (again in the menu) C- Disk Manager 2 (does not load, sometimes it does load with green colours in the menu and very hard to read) (but when loaded from XB27 directly it has white letters It starts to alternate between, TI-Basic, Boot, etc.
  3. I have the same, but the module all works correct? (like in XB27 try CALL NYANYA or if you have a nanoPEB CALL MOUNT(1,1) DEC2HEX also works. The issue I found it today is the chip (if I can figure out how to put pictures in AtariAge, I can show it): Here are the type of chips I have in the XB27 cartridge: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/229718-extended-basic-v27-suite-cartridge
  4. The red-screen issue (GROM verifier) has been found, because of the chip issue (see http://atariage.com/forums/topic/229718-extended-basic-v27-suite-cartridge/)
  5. (Okay now I have sorted out the XB27 thingy and all working), this is the thing I wanted to try out. I am using a nanoPEB here.I do not have a F18A mod. (videochip) How is the configuration saved for the BOOT.dsk ? (it does not seem to save on my system ?) * Both disks below require to press "enter" in the XB27 to load boot from DSK1. (on my nanoPEB) (The original boot.dsk in this thread does not work on my system, it loads the boot though, also I saw at the "C" it indicates "C1, C2, etc.) The C1 brings to Extended Basic 2.7 all okay. but I could not load a program (it also seems the configuration is not saved on the disk for all menu options?) I used F5 (I do not see all the DSK1... like I see when pressing F5 using the one below) then press F9. Save to DSK1 Install Gram 4 (the other one below shows Gram 6) I tried both Power up (Y/N) ftp://ftp.whtech.com/f18a/BOOT-F18A%20(Mod).zip (I copied the individual files with TIDIR of Fred Kaal to the disk). * This one works to configure the files and loads the program (assembly EA5), but also does not save it to the disk ? * the C (there is no C1, C2, etc. only a C). * Selecting C Extended Basic 2.7 does not load either (I think because it want to switch to 80 column mode ?) * TI BASic works (but I see the graphic mode change) * Disk manager 2 loads (but the colours are very hard to read, using the Boot utility) (but when using the XB27 directly it is all okay) BTW directly from XB27 suite: Dec2Hex is working okay (because this has to do with the other issue, see http://atariage.com/forums/topic/229718-extended-basic-v27-suite-cartridge/page-20?do=findComment&comment=3250435)
  6. Hi Gazoo, Today I found the issue I had (1x module always showing the red GROM verifier issue and the other module everything green). Conclusion: it is a chip issue (the large XB 27 Suite Chip). It is the original one you send over. I can send you the pictures of the boards (but I do not how to included them here in Atari-age) Problem determination process 1. Opened-up both modules (Hardware is the same, with a slight change, 1 module has some pins, the other one not) (the group of 2-3-8 pins) The other difference is the wording on the chip "8315FMP / AM25LS07PC" (original) and the other "AM25LS07PC / 8302DMP" but that was not the problem (just wondered why there is a difference) 2. I swapped the large XB 27 suite and the smaller atmel xb 27 (in both boards and also combinations of them). The issue still remained with the "failing XB 27 suite chip" (chip type 3x3033-35452B 1-F1404-63 or 83 and a "LC H" indicator) (always a red colour, but everything else works, the CALLs, etc.) I noticed that the other original one indicates "LC F" 3. Then I got the (3rd) "fake" chip back into it (just to try), but it has exactly the same chip number (and LC H) on the chip. (used the original little XB27 atmel chip with it). Upgraded with 060315XB27, everything is okay and green. tried with the "fake" little atmel chip, still all okay. 4. Tried back the "original XB27 Suite Chip (large one), red GROM verifier errors. It is something to do with the chip. 5. I can send you all the pictures of the chips if you want ? Question: >> What is the best way to do? (to use the "fake" chip, where everything is green and everything works?) >> or to go back to the "original" chip which gives "Red GROM verification", but everything works as well. >> both chips are "LC H" versions. I think more people might have this issue with a bad type of chip? But luckily we now know that it is the chip giving the red color. >> Edit - Photos: www.globeron.com/freedownload/services/TI99/XB27-Chips-Comparison.zip
  7. Stargames in Belgium -- but everything is in French, he did not make it in English yet. http://www.stargames.be/shop/accessoires/4085-compactflash-drive-rs-232-nanoped.html ... I just sent him an e-mail, as there is someone in Singapore who also need one. I am trying to meet him as I arrive coincidentally Tuesday in Brussels (but his location is a bit out). Where are you based? Maybe he can send it directly to you.
  8. Hi L@K, I am also in Singapore (15 years), but I live the last 3 years more in Bangkok (I am there also 10+ years) and fly in / out. The week of 22-26 June I am in Singapore to conduct training and can meet up in the evening if you want and synchronise where to get all info. So far I know there is nobody else in Asia with a TI-99/4A (someone did sent me an article of a TI-user group which existed .... x years ago, I will see if I can find it). Tomorrow I am on my way to The Netherlands and meet Schmitzi this weekend in Germany also to synchronise on all the TI-stuff. * for the nano-PEB they do not ship to Singapore (but in Europe only), ordering is in French... but I know the person (give me your e-mail address, that's easier). I am flying via Belgium (Brussels, if the person is nearby, I will see if I can pick it up and bring it to Singapore). * for the XB27, great module, get it from "arcadeshopper" Greg is a great help and shipped them to Thailand, so Singapore should not be any problem. I have 2x XB27 here, but I promised to give one to my family member. (I just managed to find the issue I had with the module (see the other forum), module is now all okay with the software. Recommended! Cheers, Ronald at globeron dot com
  9. My ("buggy") module upgrades okay, everything works okay, but still the GROM verifier shows that it is comprimised (red screen) * CALL functions work okay (after plug in / out the module) * F6 has blue borders, but still shows May 13th. (not June 3rd) (This one I never got it to work somehow) * Selecting Z = TIBASIC the old DSK1.BASICLOAD RUN (green screen) hangs the system, it does not load the program
  10. Classic99 (v380) and p-code card video:
  11. Exactly that's the procedure (see the other forum with all the options). F7 on, off, on, off and press FCTN-= (quit) then turn-off the TI, turn-off the nano-PEB (if any), plug out the module) (turn on nano-peb, turn-on TI, plug in the module) does it for me. The strange thing is 1x module still shows the errors on the groms (red screen) (but everything works) and 1x module is perfect (all green screens) Everything works means: CALL NYANYA, CALL MOUNT(x,y) for nanopeb, and DEC2HEX, etc. Latest version (I did yesterday) = 051315XB27 (if I am correct? 13 May version)
  12. Hahaha. That's funny. I was so busy to figure out how to get the XB suite stable that I forgot the whole purpose...which was the Boot utility! Thanks!
  13. Hi Lee, Thank you for the feedback, it will be corrected in above's list (UCSD P-code card is listed here in the list) - http://www.cadd99.com/pc99.htm
  14. thank you! that is probably the reason as I have most of the time TIDIR open to see what is on the disk!
  15. It was not easy, luckily you had the "scroll-lock" item mentioned for the dip-switches for the MESS. Now I also got all the P-code card emulations to work https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7jwHlQfNTAKQ9WdKORAnpA * Still some issue with TI-99/8 and the diskdrive (I noticed that in other systems as well in MESS) it is not always stable of it looses it configs.

  17. SGCPU setup luckily did not take too long as Michael already indicated. Copy only the hsgpl files from the nvram directory (but note there are 2 nvram directories for TI99_4p !) See the video for more details:
  18. Hi Michael, Gazoo, Cschneider. ...geee that took me 4 hours+ to get it sorted out how to get HSGPL-card to work for a single grom gram gracker file I made a video and reduced it in 27 steps for people who have a HSGPL card and how to get it running but I also noticed the "Please respect the copyright of the SNUG. Usage of the ROMs is only allowed for owners of a real HSGPL card. I hope I am not doing something wrong here (as I do not have the card itself, I had never heard of it before actually). In the description I have linked again to this message above (conditions to use the ROMS): I managed to get the Gram Kracker file to work (for a single type of file, GK files with multiple files for GROM / ROM I did not got that working, but Tursi mentioned in another post (XB27 Suite ?) that mapping need to be done. I have not read all the ins/outs of the HSGPL card. PS. I went through all the GramKracker disks I have, but most if not all I have it already in another format which loads perfectly in Classic99, V9T9, JS99er, MESS/QMC2 and other emulators (no switching required !) But it is good to know how to handle the Gram Kracker files (as in the past I only had the "GramKarte" from Germany. I found a disk with all the formats described by Eric Paul Rebel which is handy and also I found a Gram-system disk with all kind of different loaders, for Modulator, Gramulator and variants. Next step (as this requires both EVPC and HSGPL working) as I am now trying to see if the SGCPU card can work as well in MESS/QMC2 (next challenge is...there is no Cartridge port to load the EA module, so need to load it from disk, but I am back at the "black screen" again).
  19. Video: MESS+QMC2+TI-99/4A and Gram Kracker loading GK formatted files - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBaD-EhA0QY Question: It is a bit cumbersome everytime to use the "switches" method. 1. Are there any other methods to load Gram Kracker type of files on a real TI-99/4A ? (without having a Gram Kracker device). - Can the XB27 Extended Basic Suite load Gram Kracker files in an easy setup? is this possible with a separate loader? - (I have some loaders for XB, which can load Assembler games, but not GK format) 2. Are there other emulators which can load GK files easily ? ( I have not explored all of them V9T9, Classic99, JS99ers, etc.)
  20. (just for fun) Now the other question is, did TI release any "Azerty" type of keyboards? (probably not, because of the internals? mapping of the keyboard?) The TI-99/4F has a "clavier Azerty": http://www.ti99.com/ti994f.htm (Azerty: these are typically used as Keyboard in Belgium and France ... I run against it last April again visiting family in Belgium, fixing their PC, every time pressing the "wrong" keys AZERTY: https://www.google.com/search?q=azerty&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=v3liVaWIBciiuQTI54HYBw&ved=0CEMQsAQ&biw=1366&bih=633
  21. Hi Ralf, Ksarul has helped me (offline) a lot to figure out what the power supply is required, There is more info. Also "Flottmann1" has an adapter with a "switch" on it (different model) and there are different shapes of adapters. But I need to look into this another later.
  22. I think you are right. it can be either one as it has a different (European) power supply, but Flottmann1's USA connector+EuropePS does not indicate "P" then it must be P for Pal modulator.
  23. 1. Does someone coincidentally have "spare" original TI-99/4 (not /4A) overlays to sell? 2. I found some online (see jpg below), but are there also online versions of these overlays? (the one at the right with red letters and the one in the middle - not too sure to which module they belong to) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cb/1979_TI-99-4_with_Speech_Synthesizer%2C_RF_modulator%2C_keyboard_overlays.jpg Alternatively I can print these ones: http://www.ti994.com/1979/console/overlay2.jpg http://www.ti994.com/1979/cartridges/vchessoverlay.jpg http://www.ti994.com/1979/cartridges/vgraphsoverlay.jpg
  24. (see also Facebook TI99ers, with pictures). Greg McGrill has helped me out to explain it and I exchanged it, all works fine! In short -- if you see a brown (= Mitsumi, backplate of the keyboard) that is called "mylar" material (I call it a "my liar" keyboard as "lies" and it does not work, especially after years in storage! (but it actually worked good 20+ years ago, what you also can try it keep pressing the keys, suddenly keystrokes start to work I noticed. If you have a 3.5 year old kid, he can help you with this pressing the keys 100 times :-) replace it with a green backplate one (switched typed of keyboard). You can find keyboards at Ebay (make sure that is has the green backplate) and not brown/mylar
  25. This is fantastic! Thank you so much for these pictures, very helpful! (Ksarul mentioned already that this need to be documented, because you cannot find it online ("http://www.ti994.com/" and "http://www.ti99.com/ti994pow.htm" mention different power supplies, USA and Europe version) and now I see a new one with a switch on/off (In the mean time I found a person in NL who has sent me an 9900/N adapter (probably broken or maybe the fuse is broken), but we need to check the internals. * The TI-99/4 I have is the 1st one in your zip format PHC004M P (like you the "P" is engraved) Do you know what the P means? (maybe that's the difference why the other European one does not work?, but it is strange that it has 5-DIN (USA) video connector and a European power supply? * Also it looks that I see a difference in 9900/N adapters (the 99-4_Netzteil_without Plug and with the switch on/off it looks the same internals as Jean Louis - with 2x fuses) the other one in "99-4_1_Europe_works", looks like it only has 1x fuse ? * What do you mean by "yellow elko" (like elkonite?) or do you mean to remove "rust" ?
