  1. I want this one:

I am assuming that is this one:

"[ ] assembled FinalGROM 99 board, buttons and LED soldered €45"

Correct? Just want to be sure. I want the LED and SMD buttons already on the board. Will it fit in a TI cart shell like that? I want to glue a clear lens in the hole I drill in the top of cart shell. And I will 3D print some buttons that press the SMD buttons down.

  2. Well, after installing the 15k and 22k resistors, the picture is still b/w on the Sharp TV. Looks ok on the Samsung. Here is a bit of a clue. Last time (10k and none), I got a brief flash of color before it went b/w. This time, however, it did NOT do that. It was just b/w.

At this point, I am waiting for my transistors so I can build Ben Heck's "reloaded" circuit.

But I am willing to try other ideas if you have any.

  3. Question. I am not sure which resistor I need to remove. I believe I've identified the only 15k ohm resistor using this website, however I just want to be sure. I've attached a photo where I marked the resistors that I think I know. So, please tell me, is the 15k I need to remove the one in the lower right corner (between the green resistors)?

The plan then is to put the 15k on the mod board in place of the 2.2k. And put the 22k where the 3.3k is.

  4. BTW, in the mean time, I do not have a 22k ohm resistor. So now we have to wait for my bag of 1500 various resistors to arrive. I'd really like to perfect this circuit. Eventually though, I will probably desolder the resistors necessary to do Ben Heck's reloaded mod. But I am also going to buy Bryan's circuit board... which is what will ultimately be installed.

  5. OK, I went back and read the first post. Since the top of the shrink wrap is split, I managed to take some more "forensic" photos. Definitely some addendums in there, about three or four sheets. I can read the following at the top of each sheet:

    "ADDENDUM"

    "TERMINAL EMULATOR II"

    "... with keyboard..."

    "... RECORDER INFORMATION..."

I remember those being replacement pages for the manuals.

Then there are smaller things folded further down in there. One looks like the TI BASIC reference card. Not sure about the others, but maybe one of them is the one about the video modulator.

Also, I noticed the one of the manuals is shrink wrapped within the shrink wrap.

  6. OK, sorry for the delay. I found it. It was in the box where I keep my black TI (My other three are beige). Here are some photos.

The shrink wrap has split across the top, something could have slipped out. But I can't tell. The strips are visible, bound in a ring of clear tape. In the bottom of the box was also a TI BASIC reference card, and some more strips. It's clear that nothing has been purposefully removed from the shrink wrap. It's way too tight. It would get destroyed if I had tried to remove one of the books, let alone try to put it back in.

Anyways, I forgot why I was looking for these.

  7. I will await your findings. I may try Ben Heck's reloaded AV mod (linked above). Anybody here have any experience with that one? I am not sure where to connect ground on that one. What I mean is, there is ground to the mainboard, and ground to the composite video connector.

  8. Here is the pic after the new resistors have been put in place. Much improved on the Sharp, but still b/w.

And here it is on the upstairs TV (Samsung). It may appear brighter, but I think I used different camera settings. And there are reflections from the kitchen. ignore that.
