  1. As some discussion about the number of Jaguar's sold comes up in the Jaguar forums once in awhile (despite no solid figures that I can recall), I thought it'd be nice to share a document that Buddybuddies and I came across that discloses lifetime sales of Jaguar games. This is only through April 1995 but I think it's still an interesting look at how the Jaguar was doing. I have attached the document to this post but you can also see it on our website.

Although our site keeps getting constantly delayed (even by recent estimates), we are hoping to provide some other interesting features in the near future.

Can we see how well the other games did?

  2. Would be cool to be sure. Like the Saturn, the Jaguars strong 2D capabilities make it a prime candidate for a few more good SHMUPS to be ported at some point. Wonder if we could track down the source code in Japan. Probably easiest to port the DOS version?

I think is possible to see the game running on the jaguar. Oh and thank you for mentioning a possible Saturn version,i was going to make a mock up of this.

  3. In case people may not know, this is a real game from ~1995 available on a bunch of different platforms, including dos. It would be a welcome addition to the Jag library, though I think it is not open source, and it was developed by a Japanese developer - and we all know the Jag didn't make any kind of splash in Japan, so its unlikely the Japanese developer would be interested in porting it.

It kinda is open source 'cause someone managed to get it running on a Atari Falcon 030,but that's because it's free to download

  4. it's not just alpha blending, it's also graphic layers. For Alice I had 2 layers of 32x32 tiles and even with the blitter, I got 30 fps

on this RPG I have 3 layers of 16x16 tiles + dialog text, etc..., it would barely run at 15 fps

and I think the 2Mbytes of memory would be too short for double buffered 3 graphic layers + all gfx assets and sfx

In the end, this RPG will take about 1 year of fulltime work, I can't go for another 6 months to 1 year of redoing an RPG just for the Jaguar, sorry

It's understandable,it would have been too much for the jaguar and you :)
  5. Looks like Orion already answered the question:

KGRAMR unfortunately, it's not a question of demand, it's a question of feasibility. It won't be possible to have this game running at decent speed on the Jaguar, there is too much graphic layers to be displayed, not enough RAM, and the transparency of magical effects won't be possible on Jaguar as it doesn't fully support alpha blending.

oh that's a bummer :( but it's understandable at least.
