To be fair, I think this looks like more fun than most Ocean titles. For me, whether I'll enjoy it or not is if it's more arcadey/straightforward, or if it's got huge, sprawling levels that are confusing to get through. If it's the latter I'll pass on it.

What's very odd to me in regards with this Game is that, during my early days researching stuff about the Atari Jaguar, i came across with various reviews for Mr. Tuff, which unusual for an unreleased game of the era. They ranged from average to positive. The only other one Game i can think of with a similar situation is Skyhammer on the Jaguar.

What were featured in the other two magazines you have?

Naturally would love to see other issues Okisyasu might have.  Anyone asked this person yet?

Some people might have forgotten but those who went to JagFest 2K or 2K1 (IIRC) based on research i did a couple of years ago, might remember that two or three Japanese folks went to the show. One of them was actually the guy who co-edited the Jaguar Japan magazines ;)

Any suggestions on a vid? Musing on Irony Soldier(s). I think the longest longplay I've seen was 30 minutes.

Iron Soldier 1 and 2 would be pretty cool

I have two more issues. I suppose we could always ask this Okisyasu if they would provide more.

We could, but we have to keep in mind if he still has any remaining physical issues on sale, given the age of this fanzines.

Attached is a Japanese Atari Jaguar publication. This is the first issue. I had intended to scan it quite some time ago but only recently found the time. This publication strikes me as being like a fanzine, especially given that it was printed on what I would call newsprint, but the content is more than I would expect from something created by fans (maybe I don't give them enough credit?) including game guides. This particular issue contains guides to Cybermorph, Dino Dudes, Raiden, Trevor McFur in the Crescent Galaxy, and Tempest 2000. There is even a section on the Jaguar CD as well as a page listing games, some of which were released and some which weren't released. If you enjoy this please let me know as I have more to share, but it is time consuming scanning these.

This is actually by Okisyasu (https://twitter.com/Okiyasu2), who made the magazine and there are more issues floating around.

    Holy cow! Great find :D

  7. Really cool seeing Berserk getting the spotlight in modern days.

I also like that were getting an enhanced 2600 edition! It really makes you wonder if we'll see a new edition of, say, Tempest 2000 on the Atari Jaguar, featuring the tracks that were featured in the OST CD that were cut from the final release due to memory constrains.

  8. A new BigPEmu build is in the works

Rich Whitehouse states that it will introduce rewind functionality, network rewind, rollback support, and reverse audio support. It will also include two scripts for analog support in AVP, Iron Soldier, and Wolfenstein 3D

In other news, Rich will be giving a speech regarding his work with BigPEmu at PRGE 2023. I hope Hans Reutter of Cyberroach uploads the speech to YouTube in his YT channel! After all, he helped with the Atari 50 collection :D

@SebRmv and the Removers had a very nice Bomberman clone in the work many years ago, but with real life and other nasty things that make us doing other things than coding and playing, it seems the project has not been completed yet.

Unfortunality, the project is currently dead, at least for me.

It would be nice seeing those Bomberman-esque projects being completed someday. My mom used to love playing Bomberman and she is the reason why i like the series in the first place :D

I was so miffed when this one failed.  This was supposed to be the last first party game, if not last game for the system period.  Nintendo at the last moment (more or less) scrapped the US release of the game back in 1997-98 for the US.  Japan still got it, and looking at the captured image above, someone hacked what was intended back into the Japanese release.  I used to play the hell out of the Gameboy game and had been looking forward to it which is a real shame.  The game takes that look Dream Land 3 went with and ran with it on a puzzle game.  The game was originally one of those downloads in Japan, but stunningly got a cart release well into 1999 which is super late (like Wrecking Crew 98 did.)

Where did you hear the game was coming out in the US? That's new info to me...

Yeah, I would say absolutely nothing needs to be achieved, and no one should ever feel like it has to be just to be worthy of being part of the SNES community. But I personally still want to be blown away with new SNES content, just because that's what exites me, and I subscribe to the idea that people shoud also be allowed to freely ask for what they want without harrassment, however grand it may be. And each person can choose similarly what floats their boat. I'll personally take simple authentic positive chat around SNES in the SNES sub-forum. And I'll personally take brand new SNES games that blow people's expectations out of the water. It's all great and adds to the continued awareness and positivity around SNES. The later is what I personally dream of though. :)

Well, as i said on another thread (IIRC), things are looking up in the SNES homebrew scene with games like Dottie Flowers and Rex Nobilis.

    https://www.timeextension.com/news/2023/06/round-up-every-game-showcased-at-the-first-homebrew-summer-showcase-2023

The main sticking point for all homebrew devs is the lack of a SGDK equivalent on SNES, which would ease game development on the console.

The interview with Gleadow is HERE:

    https://mega.nz/file/kYN2ACQQ#Cs9xxAtfv8e_7E1A7oJy05tsj8IyaeKOrMuQaQSrnvc

He talks about sales estimates for the USA.

Here's the  supposed 2 Million claim by Darryl Still, for the UK:

    https://www.pressreader.com/uk/retro-gamer/20181228/281779925219884

Maybe people should stop running around on social media platforms, talking of others putting in thev bare minimum of work! and ask themselves why they never found the likes of :

Peter Walker and Bob Gleadow for starters, you know, follow basic rules of writing and don't go off single sources, when contributing for paid-for work at the time.

To suggest the UK Market was bigger than that of the USA and by such a huge margin..

    They should be embarrassed.

    Screenshot_20230922_193920_com.android.chrome.jpg

At this point, it's pretty much safe to say that the 2 million figure is not based on units but rather what was worth in sales, but knowing who did the RG article, the author didn't care about double fact-checking...

He's also strongly biased against anything Atari, and he's admittedly a big Sega fanboy.  I used to enjoy the channel when Dave (or whoever the other guy was) was part of it. But eventually Joe's corny sense of humor and his repeated trashing of Atari just killed the channel for me.

David White was the name of the second co-host. It seems (to me at least)that You come across with Sega fanboys more often on Twitter than here.

Cool... interesting how he keeps adding stuff that wasn't in the games, seems like a real labor of love.

All that's left for Rich Whitehouse is making the emulator cycle-accurate and murder any remaining bugs within the program, particularly one regarding Skiing and Snowboarding when you finish a track and go back to the selection screen. That and releasing the macOS and Linux versions...

Oh yeah, and the possibility of adding Jaguar Voice Modem support for Ultra Vortek :D
