  1. Doesn't matter if LCD is smashed or missing and/or if motherboard is badly fubar'd I just need the Vita for a project I wanted to do and I'd need one whose shell is in decent shape and with buttons and control pad usable (analog sticks doesn't need to work either) No games, no power supplies, no batteries, nothing else. Prefer USA but will consider oversea.
  2. One four buyer paid, more PMs answered, list updated. List is current as of October 3 just before midnight EDT
  3. Doesn't Windows 98 still depend on DOS to boot? Disable auto booting of Windows (usually in autoexec.bat delete win) and you should boot to DOS mode. Or better yet, make 2 separate autoexec.bat file. One for booting into Windows, one with DOS mouse driver (if needed), sound card settings, etc and when you need to switch mode, rename the autoexec.bat to autoexec.win and rename autoexec.dos to autoexec.bat. I had to do this long ago to play Ultima 7 games. It does not like emm386 at all so I had to make a version that only used the default 640k RAM.
  4. The caps used in game carts (SMS and Genesis as well, just about all carts post-crash) are for DC filtering and not subject to heat or high frequency so they probably won't fail like caps inside the console. If the cap leaked, something probably spilled into the cart or it was handled badly.
  5. I would check the power supply first. It may be failing and losing output after it gets warm. Then replace caps and the voltage regulator. If that still doesn't work, I'd check the video encoder chip. If you have something like can of compressed air, turn it upside down and aim at the video chip for a quick squirt and quick freeze. Does the video come back? Resolder that chip or replace it.
  6. I didn't see a "Never bought any, never planned to sell any, will keep genuine SNES system + flash card instead for playing"
  7. One local used DVD and game store had these. I have never found before any of 8-bit Action Replay and I found a CIB for Game Gear (manual in 3 languages, ad, and unused registration card) for 9.99 plus 5 "Atari" games for 99 cents each. Sorcerer and Pitfall II are the only real 2600 games not overly common. They had some Colecovision games in the mix all labeled as Atari as well but took Front Line (only labeled one not Zaxxon, Venture, Donkey Kong or other common Coleco game) and 2 unlabeled games. Knowing my luck, I wasted $2 on 2 unlabeled Zaxxons.
  8. RIP PM box... All PMs answered. First page updated with holds pending responses.

  10. If alternate games can be loaded via USB or SD, load the old Christmas demo and hang it from the tree. 8-bits Christmas graphic with nice tune.
  11. Today was a good day to get out. The price? One goose egg. :D :D let the hating commence! Will probably sell off all of XBox 360 as I don't have one and I am not interested atm. As for the rest I'd need to see what I have and which one I'd like before I dump leftover on the marketplace.
  12. I had looked into making replacement self centering replacement. There are many analog joystick on various markets like replacement PS and XBox controller and Avr/Arduino but they all used 10k pots and I have not been able to find a 500k pot in the correct size and shape to swap those on analog sticks. It's on the back burner as I got a few other projects to work on including finishing up and testing extra Masterplay clones to sell.
  13. Player 1 port is probably directly wired to the controller pads. Genesis controller can work as well. Player 2 goes through the link port. One can wire inside rather than to cut up a link cable to make into controller adapter.
  14. Took it apart, the pot wasn't connected to the plate. Now it works. BTW the flex circuit is rev 9 and seems to be working OK.
  15. Found this for 99 cents at Salvation Army. The top row button does respond but the controller seems stuck going left so either a bad pot, loose wire, or broken plastic part.
  16. Or one mold and use sandblasting equipment to add texture afterward.
  17. I like Mouser and here's a quick link: http://www.mouser.com/Passive-Components/Capacitors/Ceramic-Capacitors/Ceramic-Disc-Capacitors/_/N-5g90?P=1z0x8hsZ1yvneqiZ1yvfzm2Z1z0z7l5&Keyword=220pf+capacitor&FS=True Take your pick. They may not look the same but they generally behave the same and 2600 isn't so picky that it'd refuse to work if you didn't use exact match as original cap. As for resistor, usually they won't fail in a 2600. But if you plan to do a lot of repair or electronic projects, grab resistor kit off eBay. I got something like 100 different common values.
  18. I would rule out a few things first. Got a meter? Check power supply, should be more than 12v without load, and both VR for +5v output. If the power supply is low (like 6-8v without load), then 5200 won't work even if the power LED comes on. If either of the VR is bad, 5200 won't work either. After that, check for hot chip (remove large RF shield), if any of them feels like it will burn your finger, that chip is likely failing. With a bright flashlight, look inside the cart slot. Foreign debris can get in easily and prevent the cart from seating fully. 5200 uses interlock on pin 16 and 32 to enable 5200 to power on. If the cart was dirty, not inserted right, or absent only the red LED and the black screen will happen.
  19. I have 20 crisp new bills like this: Where do I meet to buy that?
  20. Asking someone who knows how to program 7800, if you had a decent bankswitching scheme and battery save support, would a Zelda-type game be possible on 7800? It seemed like 7800 were limited to smaller games and shorter gameplay back in the day to save money on ROM chips, before 7800 was discontinued. NES was originally limited to max 32k ROM space but with off the shelf logic chips and later, MMC series bankswitching chip larger and complex games were possible.
  21. Hmmm... dunno. It's like $4.50 at the cheapest to send this to Wyoming. I did take it apart just to see how the buttons were wired, damn convenient hackable label on the PCB plus the joystick is 4 direction capable. 2 buttons on top plus 2 buttons on front does leave some room to work with. If I could replace the joystick with translucent blue, add a few UV LEDs, and swap one of the button with a spinner controller I could have a mini Tron cab.
  22. Didn't take long for it to pop up in Goodwill. 99 cents, it's the older B&W LCD version that looks like someone tried to cross Tiger handheld with a mini cab. Will probably gut it and use Rasp Pi with color LCD to play emulators.
  23. I have them both but they aren't good for my mod plan. I need a space to install a 3.2" LCD display for my plan. neither NES and SNES Advantage has any room for that LCD.
  24. It is not region problem, it could be the cap kit was screwed up or a solder broke during shipment.
