  1. Yeah, it's not a bad game in theory, just incomplete... but what's there is fun. The problem is it's so expensive. However, the weird collector in me likes that one of the rarest titles, is also quirky and fudged. Adds to the character of it.
  2. Seems to work a charm. I'm not using previews at all, so can only speak of the menu lag issue, but this seems to have done the trick at least. Thanks!
  3. Yep, like I say, it's a minor thing, but noticeable. When can we get full Netflix style menu implemented
  4. I tried three different ROMs, and couldn't get any to work on either the SD card OR Handy... do you have a ROM that works on emulator?
  5. I removed those Mac system folders via the command line, and makes no difference. As I say, it's still very usable, just a few more clicks to get a game loaded.
  6. I thought that too initially. As I had all the ROMs in separate alphabet-based folders. But I moved all the ROMs to root. I can't remember explicitly deleting the preview folder, but I have since deleted everything on the cart, and re-added just with the games and the menu.bin/menu folder and it still does it. When I check via terminal, showing all system files etc, I don't see the preview folder either. Also, would the preview folder explain the A-button presses not always registering? Maybe something funky my Mac is adding to the root folder? Only seeing these, which I think are standard: drwxrwxrwx 1 trew staff 16384 29 Jul 10:10 .Spotlight-V100 drwxrwxrwx@ 1 trew staff 16384 25 Jul 19:44 .Trashes drwxrwxrwx 1 trew staff 16384 29 Jul 10:10 .fseventsd
  7. Not sure if this is the right place to put this. I'm on menu 1.8, and find sometimes there's a bit of a lag when navigating files with the D-pad, and also pressing buttons. Sometimes I have to press down three times before it starts to move through files. And often the first time I press "A" to load a game, it's not registered. In games themselves, I get no problems at all, and the menu lag is the same on my other Lynxes. It's still very usable, just wondered if others had the same.
  8. Just tried it here and it doesn't work for me. It looks like it's going to load, then I just get a blank screen and a continuous tone.

PUT ME DOWN FOR ONE. Kidding. (well, not kidding, but y'know). This looks great btw, really excited for it.
  10. So... you're basically saying these are now collectable... how can I call myself a Lynx collector, until I have the super rare, 100-only, original "silver pin" edition? Bugger.
  11. I have one here. Photo of it next to the one I bought off you for comparison The all grey is a PAG200, and the black/grey is PAG201 (FWIW).
  12. I thought this was going to go more like: "The TSA will instantly pull you out of line and want you to start up the Lynx and want to play California Games Surfing."
  13. Ah, not a bad shout! Best isn't great for non-US orders (shipping costs etc). But... I'm likely moving to the US soon, so can hook myself when I get there. I have a few of the large Lynx cases, but not boxed, and all shiny and new, so that's a good call.
  14. It took me ages to find one for the Lynx 1 on eBay. If anyone knows a place with them in stock (boxed) would be helpful.

Yeah, when I sniffed around eBay in Australia, could sense that the rare titles from US/UK weren't so rare there? I've even bought a few Double Dragon's and Desert Strikes from oz, as even with shipping can bag a better deal.

What's definitely NOT worth $60 is this game manual for Super Asteroids / Missile command. The MANUAL. Even the game brand new is barely worth that. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Asteroids-Missile-Command-manual-near-mint-shape-Atari-Lynx-/252466465704?hash=item3ac82c8ba8:g:r88AAOSwbsBXjTA6

    lynx values

Well, the value will depend of a few things. Is it the original Lynx or Lynx II? What condition is it in? Is there a charger? What currency (guessing $). I'd say $100 is a bit high for just the Lynx and one game. I'd say half that was probably more like it. For what it's worth, I think you can bag a Lynx II for about $30 - $40 that's in OK condition and working. You just need to be patient on eBay. Lynx I's I find can run a few bucks (10ish) more as they're a little rarer? (but often in terrible condition). If you're a gambling man, you can look for the Lynxes that are "not working" on eBay, especially the ones that say no games. Often people don't realise it needs a game in it to switch on, so you can grab a working one for very cheap. I've done this twice, and both times the Lynx was totally fine. Just a quick look on eBay, there's this one with three games and some extras for $70 delivered. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atari-Lynx-Gray-Handheld-System-Bundle-Carrying-Case-and-3-Games-Rare-Model-/172269753583?hash=item281c13d4ef:g:Sa4AAOSwYSlXgteF
  18. Ah, I re-read your post. I thought you were just asking about the white pixel marks (which is a permanent problem for sure). If nothing is displaying at all, maybe re-seating the ribbon might help? I'd still recommend the McWill screen anyway, just cos it's so darn good.
  19. Yup, that's a problem with the screen itself, (dead/leaky pixels?). Nothing you can do to fix but replace. I had one just like it, and did the LCD upgrade (McWill mod) and everything is as good as new. If you just swapped out for a normal LCD, that will also fix it.
  20. It's the resolution that's the killer for me. What good is all the GFX muscle in the world, if you've barely got any pixels to use. Sacrilege, I know, but I always found the Game Gear games looked prettier because the basic number of pixels allowed more detailed sprites and backgrounds.
  21. It's the badly cut-out hole for the screen that's bothering me most. The rest, if cleaned up, I could live with.
  22. G'ah, I'm so close... is that handful at least 7 by chance?
  23. Part of my daily (ok, three times daily) internet checks is the first page of this post to see how that list is coming on. I'm getting close... close enough I can almost taste it.
  24. I think there are 16. The difference usually is just the manual. That post I linked above shows the main ones, but here's the list I know: Klax (Box/Cart/Manual) Chips Challenge Shanghai California Games (Box?) Paperboy Slime world Gates of Zendocon Ms Pacman Blue Lightning Gauntlet (this seems to be where the rare ridged cart version comes from) Xenophobe Rampage Roadblasters Rygar Electroscop Robosquash
  25. There's only one "humped" game, which is Klax. Info on that, and other JP versions here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/249421-japanese-lynx-games/?hl=%2Bjapanese+%2Bmanuals&do=findComment&comment=3451374 Related... here's two beauties that showed up to my house this morning:
