I deciphered the tree yesterday, although it does not help much... Resorting this poem is easy to do Roses are red Violets are blue The 7 frame Pitfall Harry animated gif says GREYINK, possibly refering to that strange set of grey 2 and 3 digit numbers. I figured I'd help out a bit, since I know there's no way I can figure it all out alone.

Could be related to the browser frames, or something completely different. I think we are close to solve the (first?) riddle. I think you're close, Thomas. You just have the letters in the wrong order. The animation reads (in order of the animation frames)... THFRAMESUMSTSCRTNIZEFUWNT2WINTHPRIZE If I am reading it correctly, as such: TH / FRAMES / U / MST / SCRTNIZE / F / U / WNT / 2 / WIN / TH / PRIZE Or... "The frames you must scrutinize if you want to win the prize." Now its just a matter of figuring out what frames to scrutinize. Or maybe this is the answer? Dunno...

So, Iguana... I'm dying to know if you've heard back from Ben yet. 'Fess up!

Yeah, I'm not finished yet either. Worst of all, Tripod just closed down Pitfall Harry's site due to excessive use of Bandwidth. Sorry, Ben.

I've caught up to you, Matthias.

Sure. I have a couple of them, plus several games. Check out my Nintendo Forsale List and send me an email.

quote: Originally posted by liquid_sky: this is an idea i came up with last night. Although not totally fair, ebay needs a seller filter. Users with a feedback at or above a set amount (i.e. 10) bids will automatically be entered. Users with amounts lower than the said level can bid, but the seller must first approve thier bid. A seller always has the option of cancelling a bid from someone they don't want to deal with -- no questions asked. It's a good safety mechanism, and works just fine for me. Anyhow, newbie eBayers are usually more prompt with payment than more experienced users, from my experience. I have absolutely no problem with someone with "0" feedback winning an auction. Now if they have "10" feedback with some negatives thrown in... the warning alarm goes off... [ 05-04-2002: Message edited by: twit ]

I'm not too sure and it just occurred to me now that older browsers might not support it. Mitchell- Thanks. Actually borderlight and borderdark are proprietary Microsoft IE attributes. I don't want to go there (I'd like to try to keep it cross-platform). I'll just have to play around with trying to tweek the code to work on a PC, I guess.

weaselbrains: I'm assuming you are on IE5 for the PC, correct? I've tested it in IE5 for the Mac and everything lines up just fine. Anyhow, it isn't just a simple line that surrounds each box -- it's a 3-pixel mini-bevel effect. In any case, I cannot achieve exactly the same effect using just tables, unfortunately (I wish I could, it'd be easier). I'll try to jump on a PC today and take a look-sie at it. Thanks.

Hey all! I just posted the very first part of my newest reincarnation of ULTRAtwit.com. So far it's just my sale lists, but the future has much in store. Eventually I hope to have some classic-feel online games, and other fun toys. Check it out. Let me know what you think!

I first good thrift find in quite a while this past weekemd -- a Virtual Boy In-Store Demo display. It's in pretty rough shape, but can definitely be fixed up. I haven't found anything this good in years!

Hello! I am looking to sell my Stratovox Cocktail Table arcade game. I need to free up a little room in my apartment... Anyhow, Stratovox is a 1980 title released by Taito. I describe the game play as a combination of Defender and Space Invaders. Quite fun, actually! The coolest part is that it was the very first game that included a digitally generated voice as part of the sound effects! There is a good description of the game on the Killer List of Video Games: http://www.klov.com/S/Stratovox.html The game plays well, and the cabinet is in good condition -- there are some minor scratches on the glass top that do not obstruct game play. Remember... this is the cocktail table version cabinet. If you need pictures, I will be happy to either email them or post them to my website (I just haven't gotten around to it yet.) Please feel free to email questions to me -- stratovox@ultratwit.com -- I'll do my best to answer. Since I am technologically inept I may not be able to answer "techie" questions regarding the game with too much accuracy, but I will try. Shipping is pretty much out of the question for me. I do not have any way to crate this up, much less the manpower to move it. Ideally, I'd like to sell it to someone in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul, MN or surrounding area who can pick it up. I'm also willing to be here for you to have a crating company come pick it up for you, but please be aware that you will be responsible for setting it all up. Please forward any offers to me at stratovox@ultratwit.com -- Thanks!! [ 04-14-2002: Message edited by: twit ]

quote: Originally posted by Tempest: Atari had a few staff Artists who did the artwork for both Sears and Atari. Someone was trying to track the individual artists down, but I'm not sure if they ever found any. That was me, Tempest. And I had horrible luck. I am trying to track down my list of names that I was keeping, but haven't seen it in several months now. I'll post it if it turns up. IIRC, I had about 30 names of illustrators I was trying to track down. I spent the better part of a week going through all my 2600 boxes trying to decipher (with a magnifying glass) the signatures on the illustrations. quote: Originally posted by Randy: Some of the Atari watercolors appear to have the signature "Spohn" on them. There are numerous references to an artist by the name of Franz Spohn on the web. His background and style are such that he could have done those paintings, although I haven't seen anything that directly links him to Atari. "Spohn" was one of the names I was working on as well, but I tracked it down as far as finding a "Cliff Spohn" who made illustrations of the period that stylistically matched the label designs. Unfortunately that research didn't get much farther than that.

Hey all! I'm currently looking for a Nintendo Virtual Boy system. All I need is the system itself, in good working order. I do NOT need the tripod, power supply, or even the controller (although a new controller would be nice, it is not necessary...) No games are neede either. If anyone has one available, or knows where I can pick one up at a reasonable price please contact me: virtualboy@ULTRAtwit.com -- I still have some Atari 2600 stuff, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, GameBoy, & GameBoy Advance available for trade. I can pay cash as well.

quote: Originally posted by Philflound: Well, I guess you can say that, but I personally own about 610 or so games for the 2600, including all those you listed, plus alot more rare ones including 11 prototypes. I think many of the bigger collectors probably have most of the games, so it's not uncommon for a big collector to part with his collection. I don't think I'd ever part with my collection. This is where I think I need to add my 2 cents... As most of you know, I have been collecting for many, many years now, and have been an active member of the Classic Gaming Community since the mid-90's. That been said... I am currently in the process of auctioning off all of my Atari 2600 collection via eBay. As Philflound mentioned in his post, it is not unheard of for someone with a big collection, including many rarities, to dispose of their collection. as a personal example, I am getting ready to auction off some of the more rare items in my collection in the next couple of months (including a Quadrun, Video Cube, Diagnostic and Signal Tracing carts, etc.). I just do not want this to turn out to be a eBay "witch hunt" for people selling rare games. While I agree that "Bug90" (amongst his other aliases) is a complete scum for ripping people off, I do not want legitimate sellers to be dragged into this ruccus. Just keep this in mind... There are legitimate sellers outn there with some pretty incredible stuff. On the flip side, it is great to watch out for each other. Just don't get too anxious in your skepticism.

::: Bump ::: These end tonight. Don't miss out!

Some games just seem to have a lore attached to them. Look at Chase the Chuckwagon, for example. It's definitely not the rarest game out there -- quite to the contrary. It seems that one pops up on eBay every month or so (at least). People get all excited about it, just because it is backed up with hype (take a look at old RGVC "brag" threads, and I think you'll see that people have always gotten excited about CtCW and Waterworld).
