  1. Well, I got the 2600-daptor and almost flawless copy of a Quickshot II Turbo joystick. Both work just fine in Windows 10 with Altirra emulating Atari 800XL. Plug and play.
  2. Nobody? I guess I will reply in few days with results as I just ordered Quickshot II Turbo and 2600-daptor.
  3. I have Altirra installed on my PC (Windows 10) and emulating Atari 800XL. This is just to play some games I used to have when I was a kid. As a controller, I would like to buy QuickShot II with autofire as this was my favorite joystick to use with my original Atari 800XL. In order to interface the old joystick with my new PC over the USB I am looking at 2600-daptor. Does anybody have used such combination and can verify that it will work? Most of the documentation for the 2600-daptor mentions Atari consoles like 2600, 7800, etc so I am not sure if Altirra emulating 800XL would work properly with the "daptor".
  4. Again, thanks for all the valuable info. I grew up in Poland so was one of the kids with B&W TV only. At some point my parents got a color TV but it was in a living room so I had limited access to it when I tried to play games. If I am to get an old Atari, it would be 800XL as that's what I had back in the days. My friend had 130XE but besides the extra memory, I liked the look and feel of 800XL better. Kinda classic look if you ask me. 🙂 I started exploring more and even downloaded Altirra on my PC with some games I had when I was a kid. It is fun.
  5. Thanks for bringing up the graphics quality. I didn't think of that. Definitely don't want to go take a step backwards and be disappointed when games from my childhood don't look like they used to. Though I have to be honest that for the most part of my 800XL experience I had a small 13" black and white TV. You just had to learn and memorize what some of the shades of gray would be in real colors.
  6. Thanks! I am reading thru all the good info here on the forums. The problem is that more I read, the more options there are. 🙂 Besides the old 800XL (which would definitely look cool), there is Atari Flashback with the ability to load games onto the SD card after firmware update. I am assuming that the FB would be a plug and play option since the newer models have HDMI video out. Back to reading...
  7. Back in the days I had Atari 800XL. I guess nostalgia is hitting me so I would like to buy one now. I would also like to acquire few games I played as a kid. I see tons of cartridges for sale on various marketplaces but how do I know which ones are compatible with Atari 800XL? As far as I know carts for 2600 console won't work in 8-bit Atari. Lots of listings are for untested games somebody found in a basement or attic. I doubt sellers will know what system those carts are compatible with.
  8. I also had bad experience with Syzygy. Ordered joystick early March with 1-day shipping (NY to NJ). After two weeks of not receiving the package or any updates from Syzygy I have contacted them. They promised to ship the joystick next day. That didn't happen. Then again promised that the package will go out in the next two days. Well, after asking for tracking #, the replies ceased. Initially, I go the same run around that the "mail server is misbehaving so they can't process the orders". This is BS. Same excuse they use since 2014? They just do not have anything in stock and can't ship. I had to file a complaint with my credit card company to get my money back.
