Well you may think that he thought your comment was funny, but in actuality his response says the opposite -
Of course it would, since he obviously had a lot of time and personal investment. Still it would be even better to get these into the hands of someone that will preserve it for all to see, and not just end up in some private collector's hands that might just get stashed away. But your dad definitely deserves to get something out of it as well

I just Notice something missing on yours (U16). Just above where the delay line would have been, there is a 74LS14 chip that does not get removed. That's part of your reset circuit that absolutely needs to be there. The delay line in mine I left because i didn't feel like desoldering it (doesn't matter either way).

Maybe it's just me, but it sounds like you're trying to maximize the $$$ you can get from something that you essentially got for free. Personally if it were me I'd donate them to someone that's interested in preserving them for historical reasons.

It takes a lot of force to fully seat that daughterboard, and I would highly recommend taking the motherboard out of the case and set it on a firm surface with a piece of cardboard underneath and press down hard. But before doing so make sure that all of the pins are lined up with their respective piggybacked sockets first. Go ahead and test it with the motherboard out of the case before securing it with screws. Also you can test just the 64K base RAM by leaving out the jumper blocks. And don't forget that there are several chips that need to be removed from the motherboard that are no longer needed (there's a photo on my website showing which ones).

I was wondering when something like this was going to happen. I could have possibly done the same from my CV-NUC+ project, by surgically extracting just the SGM aspect, but at the time I didn't want to create any additional friction. But your timing appears to be good on this alternative release, and due to your excellent engineering of a CPLD solution to enable the much smaller write only YMZ284 sound chip to work, it's even better than what I would have done anyway. Great job 👍

PAL 3.546895MHz Crystal Alternative Solutions
mytek replied to Overange's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I've been using Microchip/Atmel equivalents for the GAL chip as MMU replacements for quite sometime now, and they should also work for this application as well. Programmable with TL866II Plus. ATF16V8BQL-15PU (datasheet) Digi-Key P/N: ATF16V8BQL-15PU-ND Mouser P/N: 556-AF16V8BQL15PU Brand new and in production for only $1.49 👍 -
Dead 800XL but ALL chips work in another 800XL
mytek replied to KLund1's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
@KLund1 is this one of the 800XLs you got from Marlin's garage sale? -
Never ever will I do that again. But if I did, the SMD approach would be the way to go so as to minimize thru-holes which could be very tricky to do on double sided boards (no plated thru holes).

The extra C5 designated as 0.1uF in the BOM was not correct. The "real" C5 on the board is indeed 56pF. This BOM shows the corrections, and has been updated on my website as well. UGV-II V1.1 BOM 05-02-2025.pdf So for those that may have used the previous BOM when ordering, you will have one extra 0.1uF capacitor. Sorry about that, but at least you don't have any additional components to purchase with a subsequent shipping fee attached. Good luck with the build EDIT: I left the original cost for the PCB (excluding shipping) as it was, although with all the recent tariff bullshit going on, it's likely going to be considerably higher.

Thanks I will look into it when I get a chance tomorrow. Must be a remnant of the previous version UGV BOM that slipped through the cracks.

AliExpress RetroTink Equivalent 2x Scaler with HDMI Output
mytek replied to mytek's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
@QBAZ I see that you are a new member here on AtariAge, and also appear to be using the embedded quote (") function to post your replies. Unfortunately this has the effect of cutting off your text if the browser window is not expanded when viewing that post as can be seen in this screenshot... It is a minor thing, but I'd thought I'd point it out since you are probably unfamiliar with how things work on this forum, being a new member- 114 replies

Yep there is no mix input on the TK-II-STEREO board for the SIO audio input , so therefore the only way to hear that audio is via the normal audio output on the A/V DIN jack.
