Heard that - what BS. Love their products and currently have 2 of their players. They were more than profitable enough, but are calling it quits for no real reason. Very strange.

I'm into hi-def, but on a budget. never ponied up the exhorbitant funds for OPPO gear, ever.

Was going to pull the trigger on a 205 sometime this year. Their players were more expensive, but they were built like tanks and played many formats, that to accomplish at decent quality on separate machines, would typically cost more.

  5. I'm impressed with the results on my model 2 Genesis. Better than the s-video modded system I used to have. Anybody have any experience using these with the non tmss model 1? Are jailbars still an issue?
  6. Finally picked one one up for my Genesis. Can't wait to see how good they look on my beloved Sony FV300.
  7. Isn't there an RGB mod called Sophia or something like that?
  8. Pat and Geno's both claim to have invented the cheese steak and they are located across the street from one another. Going to both to compare which is better is something many visitors to the city like to do although I say just go to Pat's. BTW if you decide to run up the stairs at the Philly art museum ala ROCKY may I suggest that you go inside the museum itself as its a wonderful place. And check out the Liberty Bell cause there is only one of those. Also do a search on "South Street".
  9. Glenside is, I guess, a wealthy Philly suburb, and that is where you will find the most excellent Classic Game Junkie. Check out any of the myriad of YouTube video tours of the store to see if it's worth the trip. While your in town you can feast at the world famous Reading Terminal Market or compare cheese steaks at Pat's and their arch rival Geno's. After enjoying a cheese steak you can walk a half a block to Rim Cafe for an outrageous coffee/chocolate indulgence courtesy of The Godfather of Chocolate himself, Rene. "Make it happen!"
  10. I recently acquired two Wico sticks and a keypad and I am beyond happy. This is coming from a fan of the stock controllers.
  11. I mentioned this in another thread but it deserves repeating: The Sony 40" XBR is probably the definitive laserdisc display.
  12. I mentioned this in another thread but it deserves repeating: The Sony 40" XBR is probably the definitive laserdisc display. And at 1080i there is plenty of room to play with vintage video processors to fine tune your LD experience. Additionally you can play 1080p consoles on sets like this and they will look excellent, better than any 720p LCD, but the overscan is a definite problem with some games.
  13. Back in 2001 I went shopping for new tv. I didn't know anything at all about televisions. Hell I didn't even know what HD was. I somehow ended up with a 36" Toshiba HD crt which cost me about $2000. I wanted one of those Sony 40" XBR sets but they were over 3 grand! I really wasn't that interested in video games at the time so I only occasionally played some 3DO or Dreamcast and it was excellent for both. What I really enjoyed was watching laserdiscs. So for you who has acquired that Sony 40" XBR I can assure you that you have one of the very finest displays ever for watching LD. And if LD is your bag then I recommend the forums at the LDDB for info on how to make your LDs look even better at 1080i, something I wish I had done years ago.
  14. About a month ago the rad cats at Too Many Games announced a one day charity event to be held at the Expo Center in Oaks, Pa. from 12-6pm on December 10th. Pennsylvania's favourite son, James Rolfe, will be there. Tickets are $10 but since all proceeds go to charity you are welcome to spend an additional amount for your ticket. I am fairly local so I might as well check it out. It will be interesting to see how many vendors are going to be selling their prized collectibles if there is no profit to be made. Hmmmm...BTW the event benefits Philabundance a charity to provide food for those in need.
  15. Good Deal Games sells this on cart. Colour me curious about the cardboard box as well.
  16. Looks like this happening this weekend in Parsippany, NJ. I have to work in the morning but if I feel up to it I will make the 80 mile journey. My wife wants to tag along so that will make the trip less tedious. Pat and Ian have a panel together and I am hoping they make it one their podcasts. Anyone have any experience with AVGC?
  17. Thanks! I was actually on the phone with Frank as he searched the various stores, including Electronic Sentimentalities, and he said that they were all out of stock. This is why I decided to post here instead of doing a search because I believed that we had checked all of the known sources. Glad we were incorrect.
  18. My 4 port has been sitting at Classic Game Junkie for 2 months now as Frank has been unable to locate a source for the composite mod. So I come to you, fellow brothers, in hopes of locating a source for said hardware. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  19. I never knew that the Vectrex had a carrying case! Looks rad and expensive. Never saw one at Classic Game Junkie but that does't mean Frank does not have one in his store basement.
  20. My local store charges $220 with one controller and a one year warranty.
  21. I'll be leaving for TMG in about 15 minutes!
