  1. Sorry I just cannot figure out how to delete a post.
  2. I didn't want to leave a negative comment and run but I seriously thought that I had deleted my original post. How people like their vintage games to look is a personal taste and I am biased towards scanlines. Since I own both sd and hd crts I decided to place them side by side and do a comparison. My hd looked fine but was missing something compared to the sd set which just happened to be the scanlines. Now I kow this is not an apple to apple comparison to the previous screenshot but this is the image I happen to have on my hard drive at the moment. Here is a shot from my 2004 Sony FS100 sd crt through s-video. Not nearly as good as a PVM with scart but this is what I own. The contrast looks a bit blown out but that is an artifact from my phone. I have to mention that one of the deals I made with my wife when we first moved in together is that I would get one room in the house for my own personal use so my sd crt is in the spare bedroom and not relegated to the basement.
  3. What I need to add to my original comment is "needs scanlines."
  4. To my eyes that screenshot look absolutely hideous.
  5. Luckily for me A/V modification IS an option. The gentleman who runs my LGS is game to perform any mod you ask of him. I am just not sure if composite or s-video is preferable for a system of this vintage.
  6. The tv I am using is a 2004 Sony sd crt of the FS100 line. My set up is in a 10ft by 13ft room which also contains my turntable, amp, and preamp. My stereo was off when the Atari was in use. I tried the cart on both a 2 port and a 4 port. I no longer have the 2 port. I did not take any pictures of the game on the 2 port because the system had glitches and the game would actually crash after a few seconds of play leaving the screen a jumble of alpha numerics. However the 2 port had some problems with my other games so I exchanged it for the 4 port. My 4 port is the original Made in USA version that is not compatible with the 2600 adaptor. I am using RF/power combination switchbox. Unfortunately, as you can see from my photos, this system has a problem in that it makes every game yellow. Last night I moved my Atari to the master bedroom and hooked it up to my 2001 Toshiba hd crt. It displayed the same problem. I have decided to return this system for one that does not turn the screen yellow but because of the Pope's visit and how it will affect traffic patterns this process will take at least 2 weeks. I just took a moment to examine the lines and I would say that they "shimmer". That is they appear very jumpy or nervous, shaking to the left and the right but their range of motion is very limited. They also appear on the menu screen. Not nearly as noticeable during play but by that time everything has turned yellow. My next step is to trade in this system for another and see how it plays on that system.
  7. I am not really complaining. I have never purchased a homebrew and I do not know what to expect. This is actually the reason I wanted to post on a forum instead of communicating via PM. I LOVE the game and how it plays but since the PQ for this particular game is not as good as any of the official carts that I own I am just wondering if this is normal or OK for a homebrew. What I find curious is that the vertical distortion lines are not visible on the Atari title screen. NOTE: The horizontal bands on the pic in post #133 are an artifact from my phone and are not visible otherwise.
  8. Unfortunately it seems the photo I have posted is either to small in the post or too large when one clicks on it for the vertical lines to be visible. I am not sure what to do about that. Hopefully you can adjust the size on your end and you can see what I am talking about.
  9. The vertical distortion lines are visible in this shot. Unfortunately my 4 port is turning everything yellow!
  10. Unfortunately I do not. My tv is a Pioneer and the it has a "screen size" setting on the remote which offers several options including "dot by dot". It is the only flat panel I have ever owned so maybe I am taking it for granted that other flat panels will have the same option. You could try doing a search for "overscan" or "dot by dot" and include your tvs model number in the search. It is quite possible that someone somewhere has asked the same question as you.
  11. Apparently my RF box on my 4 port will only play on channel 3. I have 2 more crts to try the game on but I am working quite a bit of overtime and will not get around to trying them until the weekend. I have a photo to post but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do it. Is there a FAQ somewhere that I have overlooked?
  12. I'll post a picture just as soon as I figure out exactly how to do it!
  13. Your tv should have a "dot by dot" setting or something like that. This will eliminate any overscan. I just do not see overscan being a problem as Warlords was most certainly programmed with overscan in mind as all crts have it.
  14. Fortunately the place I purchased it from offers a 1 year warranty on everything they sell. Hopefully it is the RF box and not the system. I tried the system before purchasing but since I was using Joust as my test cartridge I never noticed the yellow push. I already returned a 2 port once I discovered that it was not compatible with all cartridges and now this.
  15. I finally got around to testing my cart. The initial Atari logo screen looks as it should but when it switches to the Pac Man title screen the image degrades. There are a myriad of fine lines coursing through the image as if the cart is not seated properly. I tried this on a 2 port and a 4 port with the same result. Anyone else encounter this problem?
  16. For about the first minute the image is as it should be but then it will suddenly become very yellow. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks.

No I have not. Just checked out the info and how appropriate to have Trey Anastasio in the band.

  18. I FINALLY got my 5200 console and some carts. Now all I need is to wait for my controllers to arrive.

  19. Not all new vinyl is pressed using digital masters. There are several companies that use a 100% analog system to create their vinyl and these are the companies I support.
  20. Your dedication is extremely impressive as are the results! Congratulations! I must confess to an extreme dislike to using flat panel tvs for retro gaming and if I lived in Europe I would snatch a Bang and Olufsen crt with the remote and never look back.
  21. Just remember that the 1080i sets do not have scan lines and will, I believe, present your 240p games at 480p or 480i. I always check the model number and then do some so internet research before I buy. What most people do not know is that a good quality hd crt is vastly superior to any 720p lcd ever made. I have both sd and hd crts and I was able to literally compare games side by side and I preferred the 240p games on the sd set. Btw the Sony Wega I have is the FV100 model which is a very common model to find. It is fairly decent but it pushes reds which will be a problem for you if picture quality is a priority.
  22. I have a 2004 Sony analog crt for 240p, a 2001 Toshiba hd crt for 480p, and a 2009 Pioneer plasma for 1080p and I have never experienced any input lag on any game ever.
