[Docking in Star Raiders?]

You have to be able to see six porthole windows in the starbase before you can dock successfully.

That's what I've been doing and still can't dock.

Have all enemies been cleared from the sector? And have you used up a decent amount of fuel in case the base won't dock unless you really need fuel? (I forget if there is a requirement or not)

 

I'm pretty sure there are no enemies in the sector when I dock, also I'm prettu sure I don't need to be low on fuel to repair something.

You can see the Velocity of course in the bottom right, he approachs with a velocity of '3' (1 on keyboard?) and then after '0' a few seconds later docking is estabilshed.

Don't forget to turn off shields.

I always turn off my shields and it still wont dock.

Hmm can you write out the steps you are following? Are you getting a 'docking aborted' message? Are you reducing speed to 0 when the bottom right lookslined up?

I reduce my speed to 0 when I'm in range, then I lock on to it and nothibg happens, I don't even get a docking aborted message.

I'm having trouble docking with a starbade in Star Raiders, I've followed the instructions in to manual but I can't seem to establish orbit with the starbase, am I doing something wrong?

Alright I screwed the backing on and everything works fine now, thanks for the help.

disassmble the keyboard and see if the mylar works by itself.

I just took apart the keyboard and tested the bare mylar and everything works fine now, I even tried pressing a key and it works. Perhaps the backing was screwed to tight?

There are two CO4051 16 pin chips near the keyboard socket. If you can swap them maybe that would work.

Just replaced those and that didn't work.

Reseating the POKEY chip didn't work, but I did take a closer look at the connecter and noticed that 2 of the connections on the far ends of the cable look burnt.

I just noticed there's a leg on the POKEY chip not in its socket, I'll try re-seating it.

I replaced the POKEY chip and it made no difference.

Hi, today I got my 600XL to work but now I have another problem, the keyboard is broken. sometimes it just doesn't do anything, other times the A key sticks. The only thing that works all the time are the side-silver keys (except the help key), any help would be nice.

Update:I got it to work! I think there was something wrong with the Sally chip, but now I have another problem, the keyvoard is broken. sometimes it just doesn't do anything, other times the A key sticks. Edit:I don't think the help key works either.

Update:Just got me a working 600XL mother board off Ebay, so when it gets delivered, I'll be able to start swapping chips.

Update: After installing the 64K mod, it either boots to a white screen or a purple screen.

Hi, about a month ago my Atari 600XL got delivered, and one of the things that came with it was this odd looking thing. From what I can gather, it might be for the Vic-20, as it fits in my C64's modem slot. I've seen RAM expansions for the Vic-20, but all the ones I've seen go in the cartridge slot. I can't seem to find any info about this thing on the web, so any insight would be nice.

Yup. Got me one for Christmas, mainly because of the ability to play games off an SD card as I don't have a flash cart for my 2600.

Here's some arcade games that have the joystick in the center and buttons duplicated on either side. Mostly pre-1985 arcade games.

I use my left thumb on the disc, also I'm generally left handed.

Probably the right button set. I havn't encountered any arcade machines with a twin button set up.
