I never knew that "gaming phones" made after the N-Gage were even a thing. The longer battery life and bigger screen is nice and all, but with a price tag of around $1,040 and the fact that it's just a phone with a D-Pad attached to it means it's gonna get nowhere; it also makes me wonder why Huawei has such high expectations on this.

All of the local arcades I've visited so far only have redemption games, so I get my arcade fix from Mame and arcade compilations.

I think a PS1 sub-forum would be nice. After all, there's already a sub-forum for the 3DO.

This looks great for a game coded in basic. It makes me wonder what programming in coco basic is like.

I managed to get 2 Geminis for $40. The problem with both was bad solder, as once I re-soldered parts such as the controller ports and the cartridge slot, both consoles worked flawlessly.
I think with enough re-soldering on all the ports and switches, a Gemini could last a long time. I've been using one a lot recently due to it having a better picture than my Jr.

I did the math and concluded that the current price for Atari Vault is worth around 3 Taco Bell crunchy tacos.Oh, and this Public Service Announcement ... Steam has Atari Vault on sale for a whopping $3.39.

I just noticed that this thread is a year old now.

I'm pretty sure the joystick worked on those purely because I just so happened to have the cable positioned right when I tested them before making this thread. In fact, I just tested the CX40 on the 600xl again and got it work fine as long as I have it positioned right.I always go by process of elimination, after all you DID say that the cable itself worked as it was supposed to on other systems, which could mean it's either the inside PCB or maybe one of the 9 pins of the joystick port are bent slightly
-
I kinda doubt that it's the PCB, as I have to mess with the cable to get the up contact to work. I would still try using another PCB, but I don't have another PCB to test with.Hmmmmmm.......it may be the cable or it COULD be that the dome of the PCB INSIDE the stick may have a dome that slipped off the contact, check the PCB to be sure, this way you can for SURE eliminate the PCB as a problem. Take a known GOOD PCB from another stick and connect it up to the cable of the faulty joystick. If all positions work it is the PCB itself. To be on the safe side though if I was you if it IS the PCB, replace both the PCB and the inner white handle as those nubs can wear down too and not make full contact with the domes

After a bit more testing, I've came to the conclusion that the joystick has a faulty cable. Anybody know where to get a replacement cable?

I first heard of the 2600 probably around 2010 while googling Pac-Man gameplay videos. I then looked that up and stumbled upon 2600 game reviews from Classic Game Room (HD), and I guess the games peaked my interest. It wasn't until November 2012 when I got an Atari 2600 Jr. with some games to go along with it. It, along with the NES and the SNES was what got me into retro gaming.

The CX20 is the Driving Controller. Do you mean CX40 or CX10?
I mean the CX40. The driving controllers work fine on it.
Have you tested other joysticks with these systems? That's an easy way to rule out a problem with the controller ports.
If you're seeing the same problem with the same joystick on two different systems, my first surmisal is that the joystick cable is faulty. It might be a touchy connection that works only sometimes; perhaps when you plugged it into the other systems, you inserted the connector or flexed the cable in a different way, allowing it to make contact. Try replacing the joystick cable and see if that eliminates the problem.
I have tried other joysticks with both systems, and they work as normal.

Hi, I found a strange problem with my Atari CX-40 joystick. Where moving the stick up doesn't do anything on my Atari 2600 Jr. The odd part is that it works fine on both the right controller port and other systems I've tested it on, except the Atari 600xl, which experiences the same problem as the 2600 Jr.

I'm pretty sure I just saw an Ataribox ad on Youtube.
