The Jaguar Shell is amazing.
GASP! They EXIST!
I still want to put a retro pie into a Jaguar shell & slap a Coleco Chameleon sticker on it- now I know all the bits I'd need exist! I just have to figure out how to put them together!😆

I hope that, for this one I was not wrong about the fact you have a Playdate, even if the download link also give a PC version IIRC.
I absolutely have a Playdate! Now I'm extra excited to try it! 😁

Good morning & Merry Christmas! Who's up for a presents? 😁
So I'm gonna start with my surprise box from last year's Santa, who's never admitted their forum name (they know who they are! Probably!)
I rarely make it to McDonald's these days, so it's nice to get some of the gaming toys that aren't hand-me-downs from my niece! 😆
I had no idea Sabaton had a magazine! This is gonna be a fun read!
And the wrapped gift:
Funky pinball handheld! I love these kind of things (I finally got a Brick Game a couple months ago!) Not everyone's up just yet, but I look forward to trying this out! Thank you so much for this unexpected awesomeness!
The card came with hints for what was in the packages, so let's go down the list! 1- "It is (not yet) a cat, it will be smooth as wool."
A needlepoint kit! Slightly different from the cross stitch I normally do, but I'm excited to try it! Needlepoint is actually really hard to find in the states anymore, this isn't something I could've gotten around here! Very cool!
2- "It seems it is a tradition, so let's perpetuate it!"
I was reading the card out loud- me & my fiance immediately knew it would be a gummi burger. The tradition is upheld!! New brand this year too 😁
3- "Not a videogame yet, but a game."
This is actually very cool! It's hard to tell in the photo, but the maze is double-layered. To win you have to do part of it blind! It may take me a lil' bit to get to the finish 😅
4- "Candies?"
Candies! I think I may have had a variation on these once as a kid. My fiance may steal them though, as these are his top 3 flavors. Maybe I should hide them!
5- "This one is for Lady Duel! This is PAL and maybe in French but I found it appropriate."
I love this! Context for those who don't know: I have a second, older online name I still use a few places- "DuelLadyS". Which, as my Santa figured out, is a holdover from when I was a local Yugioh TCG judge! While I have no means to play this, I will definitely be keeping it for nostalgia. (I also love that the case is broken. I've seen so many complaints about the lack of replacements for PAL PS cases, I feel like I'm getting the proper European retro experience!)
6- "No peanut butter in France, but I guess salted caramel is a good replacement."
Definitely a good replacement! I have already opened these, & I don't expect they'll last very long!
7- "A cat game, only in digital but in physical. Let's game!"
I'm definitely curious to try this one- the physical goodie box is giving me cat-themed Broforce vibes 😆 (yes, I did find the download paper, I just didn't take a picture of it!)
8- "The biggest adventure of a leaf!"
LYNX HOMEBREW! EEEE! I haven't gotten a new Lynx game in ages! I did peek in the map pack, & it looks like this game is HUGE! I'm looking forward to it!
Numbers 9 & 10 had no hints, since it was an additional card/info:
The back of the card offers up a translation "Santa, how do you know so much about me?" "
InstagramAtariAge." Which is very appropriate! It always amazes me just how on-point this Secret Santa always is. It's like we're all spying on each other! An immense thank you to both my Santas, to Chicgamer & Captain Breakout for organizing it, & for everyone who joins in! This is always one of the best parts of the holidays! Merry Christmas everybody!

Makes sense. I'll see what I can find on ebay.
There's four books for Pac-man, made by Millcraft. One is labeled Ms. Pac-man, sometimes it's easier to find that way.
There's also four Mario patterns from Plaid, and a few punch needle kits from Purr-fect Punch. I don't do punch needle & suspect the iron ons for it no longer work, but I've seen Mario, Zelda, & Punch-out.
Let me know if you need any help looking!

Any chance you could take some hi-res pictures or scans of these and share them, please?
If it's ethical to do so, that is.
While the company that made them is long gone, cross stitchers are cutthroat about copyright & I'd likely get crucified for it 😅
More importantly, I don't currently have access to a good scanner or a camera better than my 5 year old phone. But if that changes, I'll make a post!

So I haven't said anything yet & have no pictures (for not-showing-address reasons), but now that things are fully sorted: I have double presents!
I got caught very off-guard by a second Secret Santa present, from last year's Santa! Cue emotions of confusion, excitement, then panic that somehow something had gone wrong in net-space & someone would be giftless because the wrong matches got through! But I have communicated back & forth with Chicgamer, all is well, & a thank-you gift is headed to my Double Santa becuase such generosity deserves a reward, dangit!
So look forward to a lil' extra to show off come Christmas Day! 😁

I'm getting some great mileage out of those vintage pac-man pattern leaflets 🤣
I'm glad everything made it ok! The ornament was bought last summer when I had the chance to visit the last Blockbuster. My fiance's reaction to the Touch Me was funny... he's looking at it, asking me about if it's actually vintage, until he hears a plastic sound & looks up to see me pulling a battery out of something- "you already have one." "Yeah, that's how I knew to look for one!" Then he sighed & left. I think I watched a birthday present plan get formed & ruined at the same time 😆

To be honest I was surprised also, but this is how your adress has been communicated, so I just followed the instructions (after all, maybe US Postal is less strict on signature than french post)...
Glad it arrived safely (and it seems candies are still inside and not eaten by customs dogs), apart the introduction cart, everythins is packed, so you can safely open the parcel if yo uwant to save some space. And of course, feel free to open the gifts when you want, even if there is not enough to make an advent calendar.
I actually had my fiance open it, to see if the gifts inside were wrapped & could be removed without spoiling the surprise! I'm gonna wait to open this year- the advent cross stitch thing does wonders for my preventing me from getting too antsy for gifts on my rare free afternoons. It was also funny- I'm listening with my back turned to him opening things up...
"Oh no..."
"What? Is everything ok?!"
"... packing peanuts."
😆
Not 100% sure why that was the reaction, but it was still amusing!
(And I just double-checked... apparently the line in my info DM with my name got deleted! This is what I get for writing it on the bus!)

My box arrived! And I am deeply amused because it shipped with my forum name on it, which I don't think I've seen in my years of online exchanges. Normally that's advised against because it can cause shipping issues, but I guess mine looks enough like a name to pass! 🤣

And just for fun, my in-progress Cross Stitch advent for this year! I have no idea what excactly it is yet, save for being themed after A Christmas Carol. Unless they're messing with me & it's actually Captain Planet!

In the early 2000s a place called Zakka (sort of a Japanese dollar store) closed, & the people running the clearance basically set up a personal yard sale in the middle of it. I bought my copy of Flickr on the Sega CD from there. I found a used loose Genesis at an army surplus store around the same time.
-
I felt this for years, until a friend (ironically the biggest Sega junkie I know) found out I didn't own one & actually lent me hers to try & hook me on the system. It was Mischief Makers that got me... well, that and the serendipitous discovery of a console without cables and a Mischief Makers cart at my local thrift store while I still had her deck. Put it on hold for an hour while I zipped home to get the cables to test the deck with. Worked fine, so I bought it!
It genuinely is a limited library, but there's a handful of gems. I thoroughly enjoyed Ogre Battle 64 on top of Mischief Makers, others have mentioned the racers & you already know Robotron 64. It's super easy to mod for JP carts as well, if you're into imports.

Oh man this was great.
Thank you! Things I didn't get to mention due to space & time constraints:
-the cross stitch patterns are from my collection of vintage pattern books- pacman is from 1981, Bob-omb is 1990 & technically part of a larger pattern. I didn't have big enough fabric so I just did one bomb & drafted the text myself.
-I bought the candle before assignments happened, as a stocking stuffer. It got a slight upgrade after I saw your note about always getting vanilla candles! 🤣
- the mini Pikachu is made of yellow fluorite, & the bath bomb has a Pikachu inside it, so mind the drain!
-I'm really hoping the CDs are to your taste! Both are technically metal, but Master Sword is heavy on the prog/symphonic end. And as one commenter online said, Gloryhammer walks a tightrope between Epic & Epically Stupid. They're one of my favorites, but definitely not for everyone!

Alright, I'm up... let's do this!
always start with the card!
I always have to tell myself I'm not a kid anymore and I can't expect things to be tucked away in ca-
OH! Nevermind. 😁
The present spread! 'Handmade' definitely caught my attention as I've been doing a lot more crafting this year.
Now, the opening! Firstly the candies. Sonic is an excellent choice, I grew up with him! Trick is, one of my best friends is the BIGGEST Sega/Sonic junkie I've ever met... so if she doesn't have one, he might just go speeding off with her! 🤣 And it appears gummi burgers might become a tradition for me!
That Sabaton patch is VERY cool! Coat of Arms is one the the CDs we just picked up, so the timing is amazing! And now I have a way to tell people 'yes, I have a Virtual Boy', without hauling the blockbuster rental case around!
Burgertime! I'm pretty sure this is the last Burgertime game I have means to play, but didn't own, save one. So I guess now I have to save up for a very expensive vintage handheld 😅
I LOVE the handmade perler Klonoa! Also apparently my tree will be taken over by EVIL! Klonoa can't help- my tree is quite tiny & won't handle an ornament that size... plus I'd rather he be out year round anyway! I think I stashed a Mario at my parent's last year... could Mario beat Eggman? I've not played the Olympic series, I've no idea!
Thank you so much, Santa! I love ALL of it! Now, to clean up & play Christmas Nights until my sister comes by!

It is 4:30 am in my neck of the woods, & I'm debating if I should attempt more sleep or just start opening stuff by myself. A debate I have most years (just easier to pick 'get up' when I was a kid!)
For now, here's the completed train cross stitch! Debating on outlining the 'believe' for better quality!

I have to say, I admire your patience for cross-stitch, HoshiChiri. I would have been tempted to stop here and call it "Train in a Blizzard".
Hehe 😄
I've been doing it since I was about 6 or so, so it's become a somewhat mindless task to keep my hands busy when I'm watching/listening to something. I've been doing a lot more of it recently after finishing my big project in 2021-
That map's a bit over 2 feet square- I worked on it on & off for around 9 years! Kinda forgot how quick I can finish up smaller projects until it was done!
Anyway, here's the train at the halfway point- I added in another color today but haven't taken an updated photo yet.
