  1. Your character should be a quarter - the ones you used to put in those real arcade machines - and you play until your quarter is dead.
  2. So far I've only gotten half way through level 2. But I did find some easter eggs. Anyone else find any?
  3. I don't think it is possible to beat INTV Boulder Dash. There are way too many levels. A Save\Restore game option would have been nice. I managed to get half way through level 2. Does anyone know how faithful it is to the original? Is that even important?
  4. I have just finished reading all 25 pages of this thread and it occurs to me that if INTV Boulder Dash is licensed then undoubtedly the copyright holder - First Star - would probably not accdept a release of a ROM image unless it could be guaranteed to be secure, and probably not at all since such a guarantee is difficult to provide. Unfortunate. Maybe the game will make it into one of those flashback thingies.
  5. Could that be a reason that there will be no ROM for INTV Boulderdash. Then you should play with the two player option. Fun Fun.... It is amazing we are talking about a game that is so old in concept. I remember back in the Early Atari Days and everyone seemed to have a Boulder Dash clone of some sort. I thought it was like a chess game where you move your pieces one step at a time. I didn't realize it was "real time" Quite the thing for it's day and remarkable that variations are still being produced.
  6. It would be cool if a level editor could be found in INTV Boulder Dash. The carts that are being used do contain Flash RAM according to Elektronite..
  7. And Blix? You were commenting about it's superiority because you believe - without evidence - that more people are playing it. Hmmmmm... Your source for your speculation?
  8. That would spoil all the fun, now wouldn't it? I'll tell you one... I found that there is an auto-scroll option in the controls. It centers Rockford if he is too close to the edge of the screen. I find that it makes the game play more enjoyable. At least for me.
  9. Ah, so you are just speculating. You don't know what methods are being used. I certainly don't, so I wouldn't venture any opinion on how difficult a nut it would be to crack. Probably easier to just do another complete re-write. I wonder. Are there any programmers here who think they could have done a better job with the INTV hardware?
  10. Am I the only person who has found some of the easter eggs in INTV Boulder Dash? What have you guys found if any?
  11. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Isn't the point of the programmer to make a playable and enjoyable game? Isn't it the point of the businessman to make some money? Isn't it the point of the game player to enjoy and challenge themselves? How does Blix compare to INTV Boulder Dash on these points?
  12. "It'll be easier than many other more complex mechanisms that have already been broken." - Stargunner How would you know? You don't know what methods are being used. I certainly don't, so I wouldn't venture any opinion on how difficult a nut it would be to crack. Probably easier to just do another complete re-write. I wonder. Are there any programmers here who think they could have done a better job with the INTV hardware? If so.. How so?
  13. 20 caves and 5 variants to each cave, plus the easter eggs. My bet is that it took a while to create that. It couldn't be just a 6502 to 6502 port where most of the code remains the same.
  14. Elektronite probably has their own development kit for the Intv hardware.
  15. Haven't you found the easter eggs in Intellivision Boulder Dash? There are several. Some controller extras and some other stuff that are just a bit hidden.
