  1. hey thanks for the response i wonder if all vectrex's do that or just certain models if anyone here has a vectrex which doesnt do that, please let us know here, thanks
  2. hi all, i have been noticing something with my vectrex (i am a recent first time vectrex owner) i have noticed the screen can be quite shaky, but not randomly.. it happens in a predictable manner depending on what's on the screen. an example is (see the video link below); when i turn on the vectrex and minestorm loads, then, when the game starts and you get the text on the screen saying 'MINE FIELD 1', the text itself, the stars in the background, and the lives shown at the bottom of the screen , they are all visibly shaking (unstable) however, when the 'MINE FIELD 1' text disappears and the game begins, the shaking of the stars and the lives at the bottom of the screen, stops, and the screen is stable. here is a 7.5MB video clip showing the issue https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7wL60tHjgC0UDIxSGNFZ3VDaU0/view?usp=sharing if anyone has any thoughts or comments about this, please let me know, thanks!
  3. hmm i think i will just assume that the article (Buzz Reduction #2 (Harder): means: .......to solder the 14AWG ground wire, and the Braided 'ground' shield of the new audio cable, both together (alongside each other, so in parallel), to the designated ground points of the power, and logic boards (the ground points being, G2 on the power board, and on the logic board: the leftmost pin of the volume pot* (when viewing from the rear)...... *which will be labelled R236 or R326 i'm assuming we do this (add the 14AWG wire) so there is some extra grounding going on between the power and logic boards, in case the braided wire on its own is not quite a good enough ground for the task in hand. (if anyone knows if my assumption above is incorrect, please shout, thanks!)
  4. if anyone knows where the 14AWG wire is supposed to go (from where, to where) please post here, thanks (that's regarding this article): http://www.playvectrex.com/vectech/quietvec/quiet_vectrex.pdf
  5. shame did not share the answer.. im currently in the same stuck mess u were 5 years ago (god knows what is meant by the 'node').
  6. cool ok, thanks guys, i will check out vectorgaming site and see what's goin on
  7. Hi all I have just got a vectrex and like many others have thought about perhaps looking into getting into vectrex coding. Some people might say.. "yeah, good luck with that, it's not like programming in BASIC..." but personally im in no rush to get to the top overnight; im happy to spend time on it slowly, learning some each week, ongoing, over the coming months, years.... (some people say the journey is often more fun than reaching the end goal, and this is something i agree with ) getting more people working on games would mean a bigger scene, more games for all, and keep the vectrex alive, healthy, and exciting If there are some folks reading this who are already vectrex developers, could any of them be persuaded to perhaps start a kind of 'vectrex programming course'... starting from scratch, highlighting things such as what tools to use for programming on the vectrex, important stuff to read and learn (could direct us to other articles around the internet), chat about the hardware of the vectrex, compiling/running your own programs on the vectrex, etc... at this point, a dev reading this might think.. "it all sounds good for you but, if im spending some hours each week helping others to learn and answering questions, what's in it for me?" .. well i would propose perhaps something like a paypal fund? personally i would be happy to pay $10 a month to the dev. if 10 other people are also interested in learning vectrex programming, perhaps if they are willing to pay $10 a month also, that would be $100 a month for the dev, who would hopefully spend some hours a week bringing us juniors up to speed, and all importantly: answering our questions as we go along with the learning. we could all help each other out, all learn together. perhaps an idea would be, as a group, write a simple game for the vectrex, starting literally from scratch. it doesnt have to be anything spectacular of course. just something to get us beginners started. so, is anyone interested in this idea? perhaps a dev reading this might consider being the teacher? or, perhaps you, reading this, are also interested in learning vectrex programming? if so, would you be willing to contribute some funds? so that the dev can be rewarded (could buy pizza and so on ) ok, if anyone has any thoughts or comments about this idea, please reply below. if u think it's a bad idea, it's ok, go ahead and say so ..... and finally, long live the mighty vectrex
