I'm using OSx16 Boot-CD (Boot-USB, Also), Atari Games with Easy-To-Use OSxGC Interface (Command) Included.
OS and/or System is not my problem, Just Now.
I Have problem With My USB Sound Adapter and OSxUSND of OSx16 and BOOT-USB, Sometimes with Some Systems (OSx16 Supports USB Sound Card/Adapter With OSxUSND).
But With OSx16 BOOT-CD, No, I Have Not.
I Think OSxUSND Developed By OSx16 Developers, For Atari And Atari Games, Only !
Suggestion : Download and Test it (OSx16 BOOT-USB OR BOOT-CD).
Good Luck.

I just got a Gateway2000 4dx2-66 computer from 1994. It works, but when I turn it on, it wont boot to the hard drive. Apparently, (only on a Gateway?) if your computer clock battery is dead, a floppy disk is your only boot option. When I took a look inside, i saw that it uses one of those old batteries that are hard to find now. Does anyone know an easy replace, or alternative for this? Or even how to recharge it?
Atari PAC-MAN Fan,
It is CMOS BACKUP BATTERY (CMOS battery).
Voltage is 3v.
Don't Use Any 4.5v, 6v, ... Batteries.
Replace it With "Coin Cell" "Lithium 3V Battery" Or Original Lithium Battery.
See : https://www.amazon.com/CR-2032-Lithium-Battery-coin-Batteries/dp/B00168PDHK
You Can Find Original Lithium Battery, Also (Computer & Equipment Dealers in Illinois).
Look For "CMOS battery"
Note: The Battery Has Polarity, Red Wire Is Positive (+).
Good Luck.

Does this work with no IBM PC Formatted disks?
If no this would still be a possibility for my PC stuff. I have used this before but not with Non IBM PC Formatted disks.
Thanks
Chris
Sir,
Yes, It is possible.
IF Sector Size = 512 and Sectors per track < 80, you have not problem (Even With Incompatible OS!).
"Non-IBM Compatible Floppy Disks" Formatted With/Under Which Operating System and Computer ?
You Can Use Hex Editors (File And Drive Hex Editors), "010 Editor", WinHex, ... Also.
1- Launch Editor
2- File Menu -> Open Drive
3- Select Floppy Disk Drive As Physical Drive or As Logical Drive (For Floppy Disk Drives)
3-1 Important : Check "Open as READ-ONLY"
3- Select All (Entire and Content of Disk)
4- Edit Menu ->Copy
5- File Menu -> New
6- Edit Menu -> Paste (To New)
7- File Menu -> Save As ... .
Done.
It Is Your Backup Method and Program, Just Now !
Good Luck.

Remove 5 1/4 floppy disk drive from your old computer, or buy a stock 5.25" (low price/low cost).
Install it to modern desktop PC system (You need FDC/FDD Flat cable).
Set it up in System BIOS.
Install WinImage program.
Read/Load and save floppy disks to image-files.
Just, Create an archive of Image-files, Read Files Immediately From Physical Drive or From Image-Files, Extract files, RUN And Execute programs, etc .
Good Luck.

I always found it funny that the cheap ~$200 early computers were called "Home computers" while the $4000 systems were called "Personal Computers" You could buy a 'personal' home computer for every member of your family for the price of one PC back then! Lol
yeah I know the origin of the word is in business. personal meaning a computer a worker could have on their desk vs logging into the mainframe or whatever

Yes.
As I Did For Myself and Friends.
My Old PC (Intel Pentium 200) Without HDD and Without Audio Device.
32MB Memory, Old CD-ROM Drive + CRT Monitor and Keyboard, Only.
PC + OSx16 Version 6.22 BOOT-CD (350 Atari Games Included) + Low Coast USB Sound Card (~$3) + Speaker (or Headphone) ==>> Atari 2600 + Many Games And Real Atari Sound ! (A Complete Console).
OSx16 became the only DOS that Supports USB SOUND CARD (Unique !).
OSx16 Version 6.22 BOOT-CD is FREE, and I Can Use USB SOUND CARD with My modern PC, Also (And You Too).
Why Not ?
Good Luck.

Nice! I knew this puzzle game as "Tower of Hanoi" (I actually have a wood set) and I tried your 2600 version on Stella and also real hardware (using an harmony cartridge).
A couple of suggestions:
- PAL version displays 311 scanlines ... .
- You should increase the "move counter" only when you drop a disk/marble on a rod ... .
- Maybe you might add some (faint, or it might be annoying) sound effect when you drop a disk.
Also, you could include a link to the roms for emulators and real hardware on your page ... .
Sir,
Thank you for the suggestion.
We will consider As soon as possible, Exactly.
Thanks a lot.
Good Luck

Sorry if this post looks familiar to anyone, I posted this in another forum and I wasn't getting any replies. I realize this might be a more appropriate forum.
I completed the G7400 RGB addition mod as described here. It was surprisingly simple and took me about an hour to finish.
I now need to build the 8 pin DIN to SCART cable. I am not familiar with building these, but I can't imagine it would be too difficult. So I hope someone here could give me some tips to help me complete it.
Here is DIN Connector Pinout (according to the website at the link above)
1: RGB status (75 Ohm, 3 V)
2: Ground (0 V)
3: Blue (75 Ohm, 0.7 Vtt)
4: Composite Video (CVBS) (75 Ohm, 1 Vtt)
5: Red (75 Ohm, 0.7 Vtt)
6: Status CVBS (VCR) (10 kOhm, 12 V)
7: Sound
8: Green (75 Ohm, 0.7 Vtt)
Here are my questions:
1) Do I add a 10 kOhm resistor to scart pin 6 and 75 Ohm resistors to scart pins 1, 3, 4, 5, and 8?
2) Does the symbol on scart pin17 (see fig) mean that I just connect it to the metal connector (pin 21)?
3) Is there anything I missing?
Any help or additional info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Sir,
Don't Add Resistor and, No Other Wiring/Connections.

Here G7400 == G7200 (Only, In RGB To Scart Cable!)
3V/75Ohm, 12V/10kOhm, ... Are The Lines Technical/Electrical Specifications (Voltage/Impedance
Specification).
Good Luck.

I actually sat down and compared performance of a mechanical disk in IDE and AHCI modes, AHCI overall is faster, but with a mechanical drive its not noticeable in day to day use
Yes Sir,
There are differences in Bandwidths and caps.

Improvement :
Digital Signal Processor (DSP)

Sir,
Is there a way to get PC Speaker working on modern motherboards with integrated sound? Do they still have headers for an internal speaker?
Source of Sound for PC-Speaker (internal speaker) Is " Programmable Interval Timer (PIT)",
Source of Sound/Audio (Via On-Board Chipsets or Add-On ISA/PCI Sound Cards) Is "Digital Sound Processor (DSP)".
You Can Disconnect Internal Speaker, And Connect It To System Output (Rear/Front) With Wiring (Hardwire).
I also always use IDE mode for SATA drives when installing new Windows ...
-> OS Installing/Installation Manual.
Yes, "If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It...".
Good Luck.

Dear Sir,
Will DOS go berzerk on an 8 core 4.2Ghz machine with 16Gb RAM installed???
Sir, DOS Family Operating Systems Needs At Least 640KB Conventional Memory, And Developed For PC's With Intel's Processors That Supports 8086 Architecture (As You Know).
Also windows 8.1/10 users will need to turn off EFI boot in BIOS in order to dual boot other OS, if your PC supports it
Yes Sir,
EFI (Also UEFI) is designed to improve software interoperability and address limitations of BIOS.
All 64-bit versions of PCs running Windows with a logo from the Windows Certification Program will use UEFI instead of BIOS.
After Turning off The "Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) specification", System Switches To Standard BIOS Specification Status. Also you need to enable legacy USB device support in BIOS, otherwise your USB keyboard and mouse will not work
Yes Sir,
Not only For "OSx16" Operating System, But Also For Other DOS Family Bootable USB Devices, Too.
Turning on The USB LEGACY SUPPORT Option, provides control and status capability for the legacy keyboard and mouse functions.
... with FAT file system so you can drag and drop games on it?
Sir,
If You Have HDD(s) With FAT16 And/Or Floppy Disk Drive (and Floppy Disk With Fat12), You Can Access/Execute/Run Files And Programs Stored In Those Mass-Storage Devices.
"OSx16" Supports FAT (FAT16/FAT12).
Note:
There are some differences between the OSx16 and MS-DOS, PC-DOS, FreeDOS, ... Operating Systems.
Some Programs And Games For DOS, Works Under OSx16, MS-DOS and PC-DOS Environments, Only.
And ... Very Nice Logo/Picture (Milky Way Galaxy).Thank You, And Thanks A lot For Your Comments
Good Luck -
Sir,
Use Some of Those Semiconductors in Other, New and Simple circuit.
TIA Connected to ? (Use AV mod With 4050 Regular Schematics And Repair and Find out 4050 Inputs)
2x2 Connectors -> Audio Output (Mono to Sterio With 2 Capacitors !).
3x1Pin Connector [Right ?][Mid=GND][Left ?] -> Positive Line Missed ! (4050 Is OFF)
Pictures Are Mismatch (3x1Pin Connector Side).
