I bought the console and most the games factory sealed in I think '94 or '95 from an electronics store in an outlet mall in the US. (It was a huge deal on usenet back at the time, they had many of the bundles for sale at outlet malls across the US).

It's (obviously) an NTSC console, games, and the warranty and manual are all US.

So no, I didn't go out an buy a PAL box from Europe trying to 'deceive'. Looks like this box was discussed here 3 years ago @

Since we're all in Philly, feel free to stop by and inspect and judge :|

I bought an Atari 2600 Jr. system from an outlet store around 1993 to 1995.  It came with several new games.  By the time that I got to the store the 7800 systems were sold out.  I still have my system.  The box is in multiple languages.  The 2600 Jr. system has the serial number.

I believe it has something to do with buying patterns. Sometimes if I haven't purchased anything in a while, BOOM - I suddenly have an Extra Bucks promotion. Not saying that's the hard and fast rule, but I have noticed a bit of a correlation.

I recommend having multiple accounts to increase your chance of getting promotional offers.

  3. I have an Atari 800xl that used to work.  It has been modified with a switch on the back.  I thought it was an Omniview but I pulled up my receipt from when I bought it 10+ years ago and it says it was modified with an Omniview256.  It has been several years since I last used it.  I tried it this week and now all I get is a black screen when I try to turn it on.  I tried both switch settings.  I noticed that something is bouncing around in the power supply.  Could the power supply be the issue?  I am trying to decide if I should just sell it for parts as is and move on, have someone try to fix it or buy a new power supply and see if that will solve the issue.  I don't have time to try to fix it myself. Thanks.

    Nope.

It is a Taiwan Cooper box.

Here is an original board game style box next to a Taiwan Cooper box. It’s a bootleg/pirate version.

Thank you!  I like the box even if it is a bootleg.

  5. This is for Atari Flashback 9 and Atari Flashback 9 Gold (same file works on both)

    1. Download this file attachicon.gifatari_update.img.zip

    2. Unzip it (will uncompress to 36MB file named atari_update.img)

Put it on an SD card, insert into console, power on.

    3. Push LEFT on the joystick to start the update process

once it's done, bush RIGHT to skip the prompt

Reboot! The SD card option is now enabled.

To add ROMs, it's like how the Flashback Portable worked. Make a GAME folder in the root of your SD card. You may need to rename your ROMs and avoid any special characters. Both .bin and .a26 files should be recognized.

This thread has some relevant troubleshooting info, and you might even find some other downloads there.

this message has been brought to you by the firmware fairy

I just bought an Atari Flashback 9 Deluxe. I followed these steps and the Flashback does not seem to recognize the SD card when I am trying to upgrade the firmware. I am using the SD card that came with the Deluxe version. I bought this system new from eBay. When I took the system out of the box it sounded like something was rattling inside the system but the SD feature seems to work for saves but not for the upgraded firmware. I already tried the option that you had in the other thread about formatting. Any other ideas as to why this isn't working? Thank you!

  6. I have a lot of stuff to sell but you must pick it up at my home in Wentzville, Missouri. I don't have time to ship. I have Atari 2600 games loose and boxed. A large number of 2600 controllers and power supplies. A 2600 system, Astrocade system and games, 2 Colecovision systems, a modified Atari 800XL, multiple 1050 drives, 2 Genesis systems, Intellivision games and systems, a TI computer and the list goes on and on. Please send me a private message if you want to see the items and buy. I am looking to sell ASAP. I will sell at a discounted price.

  7. This should be interesting, Newegg was selling these brand new for $255 shipped, 5 days ago. :ponder:

Newegg is the reason that I have two systems. I originally bought a system from Newegg two weeks ago when eBay had their 20% off sale. Newegg cancelled the order and my daughter cried and cried because I told her that I had bought her the system. eBay then had another coupon sale this past week. It wasn't as good of sale but it was better than buying locally and paying sales tax. I first bought one from Newegg because they were the only dealer who had new systems available at a decent price. I was afraid that they were going to cancel again so I bought a second one from another dealer when they posted after I purchased the one from Newegg. I never expected to get both because so many systems had been cancelled the week before from multiple dealers. Bottom line is now I have 2 systems and I only need one.

It has been a long time since I sold on here or eBay. I am just trying to sell this extra one and be done with it. I now have a full time job and am no longer a game dealer. I have no interest in selling like I used to.

  8. This is an interesting item. I have been a Bally/Astrocade owner for almost 40 years and I never saw this item before. There also was a 10 year period when I bought and sold more Bally/Astrocade items than anyone else on eBay. I came across some unique items over the years but never this. I wonder if this was part of a store display at Montgomery Ward.

It will be interesting to see how high this goes. The Bally community is much smaller than for a lot of other systems. A couple of people who used to spend big bucks on Bally items no longer are around. One passed away and one left the hobby.
