Hi, I replied by PM but for wider reference these are the prices in UK Pounds I got on eBay in June 2018 (not including postage):

    I-Cyborg £71

    Sundance £56

    WOTW £59

    3D Sector X £80

    Continuum £92

  2. Interesting. I would have thought that prices were higher. Did you offer international shipping, Chris?

Yes, most sold internationally; good photos, some low numbered carts too... was all a bit random... some others I sold at the same time made way more than expected but I only listed the ones asked about :)

  3. Snowball in the black shell is now available to preorder. The price is £18 plus p&p (£4 UK, £9 EU, £10 Rest of World).

Snowball is a simple 2 player Vs game where you and another player control an elf each in a snowball fight, first to 3 wins.

Video of me playing both players on my own here: https://youtu.be/Fw4PMZScdMA

This edition is not limited but I only have 50 PCBs on order for this so it would be some time to restock if they sell out. If you would just like a ROM of the game with your own personalised title page message then the price is £5; if you are buying the cart version, I will happily send you a ROM file with personalised message at no extra cost.

Drop us an email on enquiries@vectorrepublic.co.uk with your address and I will send you a PayPal link for the total to your location.

  4. Good plan, I thought it looked a bit uncomfortable as well. Seems like I did an interest check on these a while back now that I recall and there wasn’t a lot of interest. Maybe that’s why Victor only made 11. It’s amazing that a system with so few games has such a following. I guess VecFever is real.

It would be great if you could make something similar, looks like you have the skills and machine access... Vic similarly handed off the electronics side to someone else although with the readily available PCBs and so many people making the workings on various projects that should be the "easy" part.

Comfort wise it plays really well but I mostly use it sat on a desktop rather than handheld... it just feels so nice, heavy, and high quality and just looks beautiful. I think only 11 were made just because of the time incolved in the various stages of making the machined and anodised part.

  5. Well that’s a hard statement to prove, but I have seen a few hardware items in different forums that have never made it to the US to my knowledge. Either due to my ignorance or lack of timing. I don’t fault the creators, it’s hard to produce large quantities of products for sale when it’s done by one person in their spare time. This is one of them:

11 of those were made, the original two guys making them have kept (at least) one each and they fell out during making them... some or all of the others were sold (so 9 maximum) and at least one of the two sellers offered them up on the Vectrex fans Unite page on Facebook to anyone in the world... from mine and everyone else I speak to about sales numbers, at least half of all games are shipped outside of Europe, mostly to the US.

Maybe it's not what you meant but your statement implied some tight knit cabal of European home brewers usually keeping most of what they make inside of Europe which really isn't the case so I just wanted to add some facts around that :)

  6. It’s to bad most of these European projects usually stay mostly in Europe

I'm interested to know which European projects have stayed in Europe... I can't think of one at all but maybe I missed something... everyone I know who has released a game or hardware in Europe has made it available Worldwide.

  7. Magical Sound Shower, too! Not sure how I feel about "demakes" but I do like Outrun and I do like Vectrex, just not necessarily together.

    I like this comment

Ah yes, I did this, forgot to post it here... original video:

I'll have a newer video with a bit of traffic and Splash Wave as the music later.

I've no intention of making a finished game or anything, it's just a bit of fun.

I'd be very impressed if anyone could create a 100 foot high fog machine laser show in 4 hours but hey, the internet will have its opinions ... and anyway, no one will be reading this or watching the video as no one is nostalgic for the Vectrex anyway :)

  8. The games do exist on standalone cartridges for a lucky few that were given them, albeit without the high score saving I believe, and a little cut down due to fitting into 32K size. However sadly plans for marketing them as titles was shelved, and the only real way to get them is to own a VecFever.

The standalone versions do save high scores by the way.

  9. Just an update to say that I now have the Japanese versions of Big blue available if anyone is interested in this niche within a niche grin.png

If anyone is interested in a Japanese copy of the game at the usual price of a GCE version (£36 + p&p) then order from the website (vectorrepublic.co.uk) before the end of June and leave a note in your payment or drop me a PM. I'll be adding these to the website soon for £40 to cover the extra cost of design work and printing.

  10. I think George's move to not taking prepayment is the way forward; certainly best until you know you pretty much have the game ready to go in code and physically. For me it would just put too much pressure on me to go faster, I'd hate to be sat on a load of money for years... if you think Warrior was what, $60?? 150 copies, you have $9000 dollars sat there, years later exchange rates have altered, production prices have changed, postage prices have gone up and you've received hundreds of emails you could do without asking where the game is. Everyone handles things differently but that would be a nightmare for me personally.

  11. Ok, in order to unlock Spike Goes Down, you need to score 20k on Protector. Problem is, that game is too hard for me... ;-( I never got close..

Last year I brought my Vec with Protector Special Edition in to work and had a mini competition.

One guy scored 17,200... So close... ;-(

This year, I brought it back to work and had a competition again.

The same guy from last year and another guy got competitive with each other (I was egging them on) and...

    They (both) broke 20k!!!

So today, for the first time since I bought Protector SE back when it was first released, I was FINALLY able to play Spike Goes Down!!!

    YAY!!

Hey, it's a really fun game, and more my speed.. ;-)

    desiv

Hah, funny... I took my Protector to a games meet years ago when Protector was pretty new and someone unlocked the game, I don't even know if I was aware of a bonus game on the cart. I love Spike Goes Down, use it as a high score competition game whenever I have a games meet.

Regarding this topic... I guess in 4 years there's been a few additions to the rare list!

  12. That is a damn cool idea. Will the manuals be in Japanese, too?

No, not for Big Blue at least... too much work and cost for what would be a very low numbers selling version I think... I have the cart labels printed already and my Brother is working on the 3 stickers that will be used to convert GCE boxes into Japanese ones :)
