  1. Yeah...all the new ones have a longer prong than the original ones back in the day...I noticed this when I was taking a cord out of a non working unit and installing it in a working unit....is the prong length causing the outer ring not to connectto the female end?....If so I wonder if you could lop off 1/8" off the prong....allowing it to go all the way in (John Wayne Bobbit thinks this is a bad idea)....don't know if this would work...but it's my first thought
  2. Maze Craze has an addictive quality to it....It would be interesting to see how long you could play without exiting the maze or being caught by that thing that is chasing you
  3. Adventure and Haunted House are good ones....those types of games are great for goofing around with....just to see what little quirks you can discover...I just got Dark Chambers...that might end up being fun in that vein
  4. Yeah....thats kinda what I meant....somehow I have 4 Combat carts That's what happens when you buy carts in bulk or as part of system packages. You end up with WAY too many commons. I try to restrain myself as much as possible from doing deals like that unless I can actually use more than a few of the carts to fill holes. Collecting label variations helps, because then you can at least justify the purchase of your fifth Combat cart by saying "well, the label is different from the four I already have" but even that doesn't go down too well with "she who must be obeyed". Actually I have never purchased a Combat....they just spontaniously appear every 10 years or so.....kind of like the census....or John Travolta
  5. A real gamer would never walk away from an arcade game. He would keep playing until his pants were soaked with urine and his armpits smelled like soup. You're hardcore dude
  6. We didn't get ours until Christmas 1980....Combat for sure was first...I want to say Asteroids, Space Invaders, Breakout and Video Pinball were amongst my first
  7. Yeah....thats kinda what I meant....somehow I have 4 Combat carts
  8. You have to have Combat...thats a rule...Space Invaders is also a must....those are mostly solid choices
  9. I can't remember.....do you push fire to start each round of Demon Attack...or does it just start automatically?....either way....Demon Attack....sheesh....I'm happy to play 10 minutes on that one
  10. One of the nice things about Defender is the ability to hide above the screen or below the city and come back to the game later. Why did I never realize you could do that in Defender....I may take a run at that one tonight.....or try to long haul Asteroids game 1 with no saucers
  11. I've heard the story about Coleco sandbagging it's 2600 releases to boost sales for the Colecovision console....but I don't know if I believe that....sort of cutting off your nose to spite your face kind of stuff. As 2600 arcade ports go....a pretty solid effort I think....as is DK Junior
  12. Doesn't look so bad to me....want to see a garbage version...check out 2600 King Kong...a really cheesy impersonator. I loved the Commodore 64 version even though it tended to run slow....and the arcade version was the first arcade game I ever played at a VFW fish fry in Lorain Ohio lo those many years ago

    tron comic ad

I love those old print ads....I have 3 boxes of comics from the 80's....I should frame a couple back cover ones for the man cave!
  17. I'm just talking about hitting reset once and playing basicly until you don't feel like playing anymore...I can flip space invaders over a couple times....then I start getting loopy and screw up....I played Enduro for almost an hour once also...the thing that makes Video Pinball easier to do a marathon is that you can pause between turns...the others just keep comin at ya.....Donkey Kong lets you rest between levels...but those fireballs that look more like ducks get pretty tricky after a while.
  18. Once I played a game of Video Pinball for almost 6 hours before just turning it off. This got me to thinking...on what other games could this be done?.....I was thinking Hangman...but you have to reset for each word...so thats technically more than 1 game
  19. I like Real Sports Tennis because I am simply unable to beat Activision Tennis...The Activision graphics seem better though
  20. Could this be as simple as the range of fire not reaching the target rock?....I seem to notice from the middle(start area) I cant reach asteroids at the outer edge of the screen. I agree with the ones that go right through being a glitch...thats legit
  21. The Slik Stick was pretty small...It was ok for me as I use the thumb on top grip. I got a box of games that also had some of the GemSticks which I havn't tried yet...so I'll definately check those out
  22. For nostalgia purposes I give the nod to the Slik Stik....we went through a ton of these back in the day....which I suppose means it wasn't very well built....but I liked them...and they were pretty cheap
  23. I want to say it's not emulator...but I can check and find out....If it's not...it's a darn good representation...and I highly reccommend if you have a GBA
  24. Good find there!....I always wanted the Indy 500 with the special paddles....new in box alone makes that a nice purchase....really hard to find those. BTW anybody know if those controllers were ever sold as a stand alone?
